While not making an official announcement yet, YouTube has let word out that they plan sometime in the future to begin charging for watching videos on up to 50 'channels' (so, that's why they created them.) The goal seems to be something like Hulu, where some content is free and other requires a fee. popwatch.ew.com/2013/05/06/youtube-pay-model-premium/Would you pay? I have a feeling I will treat it like Hulu, and only occasionally watch it until they get to the point that most things I want to see I have to pay for. I really couldn't care less about YouTube wanting to start producing their own programming a la Netflix and Amazon, as that's not what I use any of those sites for anyway.
If YouTube kills their own unique business niche, there will be dozens of sites ready to take over what they abandoned.
I guess I shouldn't be surprised, now that Google owns them.

no I won't pay,I will find another site to watch music videos I grew up with in the 80s and early 90s for free.

I guess that the people who have made that website happen must want it to take a nose dive.

P.S. Right now, I am the only one who has voted for the maybe option. Whether I would pay or not would really depend on how much it would be to watch something that I would want to see badly enough...like clips from performances that I am not able to see anywhere else.

^^^ Thank you for saying that to me because lately its been one thing after another for me. In the last month I have lost 3 people: my grandmother (my mom's mother) on April 10th, a family friend on April 30th, and an aunt on May 2nd which happens to be my mom's birthday. In the last 12 months its been 4 people all together because I lost a cousin on June 7th of last year too.  God bless you and what's left of my family always!!! Holly P.S. so waiting for this stuff they want to charge to appear on file-sharing sites will have how much longer onto their getting out free? day? maybe two? I can wait.  |
