I had to think about this one for awhile and I have watched it several times I think the best I can do is a 2 for this one. I will put a disclaimer out first- I love Dean, Sam and Cas, I know that without Dean and Sam there is no SPN and I would not ever want them to not be on the show, it just wouldn't be the same show. I usually try and focus on the positive of the episodes, but I don't think I can with this one, it was jumbled, and odd and somewhat rushed, and the dialog was not the best in this one, and it showed.
I have not had a problem with Dean taking care of Sam till this one, surely at some point Sam could go get his own food, he can walk all over the MOL bunker, Sam has completed 2 of the 3 trials, I think he can do a few things for himself. They have done a decent job of showing us that he is hurting but he is still able to function, so Dean let Sam do some things for himself.
I am over Dean being angry at Cas, Cas has learned human behavior from humans, specifically the Winchesters. they have made mistakes in their lives and it stands to reason that Cas will too now that he is trying to atone for his past actions. Cas is not blameless, he has and is making mistakes by not telling the guys what he is doing, and what is going on because that never works out well, but Dean yelling at him and pushing him away doesn't work either, end of S6 ring a bell?
I just don't know what to think about Metatron, is he good, is he bad? I just don't know.
I find it a little ironic that Dean yells at Cas for screwing up, and yet he and Sam put Abbadon back together and then LEAVE her alone in a room with no devil traps, no salt, no nothing, Seriously??? Where are the smart Winchesters that we have seen this year? They should have learned that you don't leave anything or anyone alone in a room, I can think of 3 or 4 time in the past season where that happened and they lost the person or monster.
I am tired of past characters being brought back to die, Yes it is SPN, but come on can we bring down the death toll some, please? The same with the creepy , bloody monsters, they keep trying to up the blood and gore, and I would rather see some actual story.
what I did like was Cas shopping, that was great. I liked how Sam cares so much about the people and lives that they have saved and touched that he is (at this point maybe) willing to give up on the trials to keep the countless others safe. I did like seeing Dean and Sam united and focused on the goal I liked Sam sticking up for Cas. Crowley's emoticon and his smart remarks were great, but I still need to know what is he?? I am sorry to rant, and I apologize if I have upset anyone but I was just not happy with this one.

NC, your comments are appropriate to the episode. I just watched it a 2nd time and I think putting Abaddon back together and leaving her alone is the stupidest thing the Winchesters have done in 8 seasons. They are not that stupid. Now that I have gotten that off my chest, I can talk about the rest of the episode. I love the bunker; it has endless possibilities. The shooting range was nice, but the dungeon is even better. I am glad they did not bring Abaddon to the dungeon because then she would know too much about them. When Dean was ignoring Castiel, I assumed it was because Castiel had beat him in order to get the angel tablet. Then, I realized the lack of trust and Cas not responding to calls for help probably hurt Dean more than the physical beating. It was so touching when Castiel went shopping for Dean's favorite stuff to atone for hurting him. Especially the pie. Crowley is showing how he deserves the title of King of Hell - he certainly knows how to dish out the torture. His monologue is the best I have seen on Supernatural. Usually the monologues are accompanied by long stares but Crowley's was accompanied by a frantic search for the hex bag. Very well played. I think the writers are coming up with very interesting devices to keep the show new and exciting - like cure a demon! Metatron's test for Castiel seems weird to me. All it did was make me wonder if Metatron is going to cause Castiel to get hurt. Because of the insult to our intelligence by the resurrection of Abaddon, I can give the episode no more than a 3.

A little muddled, but on the whole, an exciting episode. So angels and humans have "mated," produced offspring that are forbidden and Cas has to show he's on Metatron's side by killing her? Why did she present herself to him when she could "see their halos?" That seems a little rash. and she seemed powerful, too. Liked that Dean is still trying to take care of Sam. Sam is still coughing up blood and although Dean is concerned, as he told the priest, he knows Sam can do the job no matter how weak he looks. Liked that Dean is still peeved with Cas. That beatdown and the fact that Cas didn't trust Dean with the angel tablet had to hurt. Cas has done way too many things to cause Dean to re-think his "Cas is like a brother to me." Enjoyed Cas shopping. "I need pie" was a good line. The coup de grace was Crowley's reading the "Supernatural" novels to find out all the cases the boys have worked on and killing off the people they've saved over the last 8 years together. The writers really found a way to poke us in the heart with that one. Hope the season finale is great since there's a lot of loose ends to tie up. Of course, since we're up for a 9th season, I guess a a few loose ends will be left undone.

Since I haven't watched the show in months, I was pleasantly surprised at how entertained I was during this episode. For me, it was all about Castiel. I'd forgotten how good Misha is at humor. All the plot holes didn't bother me, since I'm not exactly invested in the series anymore. Therefore, since I wasn't expecting anything special, I was shocked that I took such great delight in several scenes. I'm also impressed with Jared's acting...he usually sucks, but he gave a very textured, low-key performance in this episode. Oh, and he's a sexy boy. I'd forgotten about that!!

I think Jared did a good job of acting too. All of the acting was great and really drew me into the episode. Abaddon does her role too well - she freaks me out. *shudder* Contrite Castiel! He was so precious; I wanted to console him and tell him Dean would get over it. The pie reference blew me away. Did Metatron have to let everyone know the clerk was still a virgin? I thought Dean was going to give a detailed confession to the priest so that his blood would be purified. I wonder how long that would have taken.
