She was a precious lady. I enjoyed her sweetness.

We've been through this before. So hard to watch Archie when it happened. Only now it's Jean Stapleton that's gone.
Mike Huckabee started his broadcast with "I just can't stifle myself."

it's been hard to watch AitF since 1979! re-runs dealing with Nixon-anger are so dated.... the really weird thing was the spin-off 704 Hauser, with john amos as the complete opposite- a blue collar democrat with a snooty, white-collar son (who was a ripoff of Carleton from FRESH PRINCE OF BEL AIR... but that's another story.) why haven't you heard of 704 Hauser? the viewing public rightly decided it wasn't worth pushing after a half-season. not so much a decision on politics as on Norman Lear's relevance to sitcoms. it says NOTHING about John Amos as an actor! he was in DIE HARD 2! first McClane loves him, then hates him!

I never knew about "704 Hauser" Spoonie... so THAT'S why they he left "Good Times" and they killed him off in the first show of the new season.

He wouldn't have lived in 704 Hauser as long as Archie was still there. He left because of J.J. bringing down the show's quality.

I didn't realize the show was made in the early 1990s...
Spoonie, you're right.... Lear's impact on "socially-conscious" TV had waned long before.
Didn't Esther Rolle leave "Good Times" for the same reason?
She was the maid in "Driving Miss Daisy".

Sad mann! She was such a talented lady. I know a lot of people my age don't know how amazing and groundbreaking AITF was, but it remains one of my favorite shows. Jean and Carroll were brilliant. There are full episodes up on youtube. Well I hope there still are... *goes to check* They're still up YAY ;D

Nope, did not know that. Thanks. Now that is what I consider a major transition.

I did not realize he was "Meathead", but I think he did an excellent job of directing those movies. The only one I did not see is "When Harry Met Sally" but I saw Jensen's and Misha's re-enactment.

'Stand By Me'.... so he's indirectly responsible for giving the world Wesley Crusher.... took another bald guy to put him in his place.... the first duty of any Starfleet Officer is to the truth. The Second duty it not to suck. Wesley fails on both. it's only logical!

Anti....You've NEVER seen "When Harry Met Sally?" One of the cutest, most entertaining movies ever! You have to see it. You'll have a smile on your face and in your heart for days afterward. I NEVER get tired of watching it!
