I thought i would let everyone know that i'm going to be rewatching or re-rewatching in some cases Smallville from beginning to end. Also, if there's anyone interested we could set it up for more of us to watch the complete series in the synchro lounge. Basically, i watched seasons 1-7 of Supernatural with my mom which ended a couple of weeks ago and we were talking about either watching Smallville again (my idea) or Charmed. (her idea) Yup. I won out this time. She has seen SV but not nearly as many times as i have. But beware: We have been known to watch up to two discs per night so idk how we could schedule it but for some of SN we watched up to one season in like a week. Yeah, she was really into it. But it should be fun seeing Smallville in my own time, on my own schedule, and see if we can pick up on some things we didn't catch the first time.

Finished season 1 and started 2 today. Oh, and i forgot to mention that my aunt (who will be watching it with my cousin) will be borrowing all the seasons from me. She's supposed to be by on Tues to pick up season 1. Apparently my aunt also got into Supernatural cuz she saw it my collection and then later watched it on Netflix. Go me.

Not really. I'm finding that some episodes i remember better than others. I was never too keen on season 1 so it was like watching it over again since it's been so long. That and everyone looks so young.

Idk if my dvd player is being overused or if it's decided to give up on me. I wasn't able to watch 2 episodes from season 6 b/c they kept skipping. So yeah, i ended up having to skip both "Crimson" and "Trespass". Then when i put in the last disc, i couldn't get it to play the main menu. I was able to skip ahead up to the middle of "Noir" but when i did get it to play it kept skipping and wasn't able to play completely. No luck on the beginning of the episode or "Nemesis". I went out and bought a dvd player cleaner hoping that would help but it hasn't. And since my mom's dog managed to get a hold of S7 right after i bought it, i might have to end up re-buying it.

Am i just talking to dead air or are ppl reading and not replying?
I wasn't able to watch the last 2 episodes of season 6 so we just went ahead and started season 7. Hopefully my aunt will have better luck with it. We're about halfway through the season. So far, no problems playing it.
Oh, and it turns out that it's season 8 Abby got to. I probably will end up re-buying it simply because there's a handful of episodes that won't play.

I've never done what you're talking about doing.
I have yet to get a DVD player. My priority is being able to record shows that are actually on. DVDs cost money though I understand libraries have them. Again, it's a priority issue.
I used to watch reruns but now there's only time for seeing the episode the first time. I suppose what you're doing could be enjoyable. Sounds like it. I just don't have the time.
And I don't even have a job!
Sorry you may have lost season 7.

I'm about halfway through season 8. Again, i couldn't watch 2 episodes from the 2nd disc. I believe discs 4 and 5 are the bad ones if i remember correctly.
Kyle, i understand about you not wanting a dvd player. The price has gone down on them but the dvd's themselves can get pretty expensive unless you hit a good sale.
Anti, i haven't really been posting too much detail but i'm glad that you and others are still reading my posts.

Anti, i haven't really been posting too much detail but i'm glad that you and others are still reading my posts. Libraries have DVDs. At one of the libraries I go to the DVDs aren't actually in the package but you take the package to the checkout desk. I don't know how they know where to finmd the DVDs behind the desk but they do. My major concern is recording shows. I found a DVD player that would record, for $300. It was cheaper just to get cable, though I've spent more than that on cable, and on the TiVo I got instead. But the TiVo has been very valuable since it recorded episodes of TV series that I might not have known were going to be broadcast. The TV my relatives let me borrow when I was in the nursing home had a DVD player, but I don't want that TV until I have a way to record. As my various VCRs keep giving me trouble, I may have to do something. I heard I might lose the ability to watch cable without a converter box, and if that happens my TiVo can only record one show at a time, meaning I'll need a second one and I'll have to keep up very closely with when two shows are on at once.

Oh ok. I understand now. That makes sense. I thought i was one of the last to still record onto vcr's. Usually as how i'm still asleep by the time prime time starts and leaving before it's over most nights, it just works better that way. Plus i want to get out of watching as many commercials as possible. Oh, and back on topic i did go out and buy season 8 again. I have the next 2 nights off work so we should be able to finish the season and watch the 2 missing episodes. Also, my aunt said that she was able to load the last disc of season 6 on her portable dvd player so i'll keep my fingers crossed that it will play for her when she and my cousin get to those episodes.

Oh ok. I understand now. That makes sense. I thought i was one of the last to still record onto vcr's. If they work, I can still do it. Plus with an antenna, a VCR is the only way I have to record. No point in spending $300 on a recorder when I can't even count on the signal coming from an antenna.

Continuing my rant from the Vent Thread:
They expect me to buy $55 worth of merchandise to get $4 in savings. I was relieved when this time it was $55 before coupons and savings from the store's card. I included a power strip, which may not actually be a surge protector since something else had that name. Anyway, I have that in case I have to get a new TiVo for whatever reason.
And when I unplugged the TV, "Jeopardy" didn't record. I was just a few minutes late, but fortunately in my area it airs twice. Hopefully the cable company won't take that second channel away. I discovered the problem was that unplugging, even for the short time it took to move the plug to the power strip, disconnected the clock. I had to reset it.

Kyle, i haven't watched Jeopardy in years. And by years, i mean way, way, way back in the day. Is Alex Trebek bald yet? We got to the 2nd disk and then stopped to get caught up on X Factor. I'm off Sun and Mon night so we should make some progress on Smallville then.

We're now onto the 4th disk. Told ya we'd watch quite a bit. The next episode is "Persuasion". I'm ing that Lois and Clark are together now but i'm confused about something. In the episode "Kandor", it is revealed that Kandor is destroyed 20 years before Krypton is. It also shows us how Jor-El and Zod worked together with the crystal and all that. My question is this: Was Kandor part of Krypton or was it an another planet that was also destroyed? I think my confusion is based partly on after Zod and his followers get their powers, they basically have the same powers as Clark and the rest of the Kryptonians. The only difference i've noticed so far is that the sun affects them differently.

Kyle, i haven't watched Jeopardy in years. And by years, i mean way, way, way back in the day. Is Alex Trebek bald yet? If he is he's hiding it well. When I got to the beach I saw a preview of coming attractions. The TV in my motel was like my two TVs that are hooked up to antennas and the TV that is hooked up to a TiVo. You cannot change channels except with the remote. The regular buttons on the TV itself cannot be used because the TV must always be on 3. And by the time I got help with this I had missed the start of the episode. At least I taped it at home. I hope. And if they do that to me at home I will always have to able to find the remote. There was a joke about getting up to change the channel yourself. On newer TVs this can be done. The woman at the motel said they would eventually have TVs where that would work.

That's the way my tv's are upstairs. When i record a show on my vcr, i have to be sure that it's on the channel i want to record and i always need to have the vcr set to record on channel 3. Since we have the cable box downstairs, i set my vcr to record the same way but use the menu to select what show(s) to record from the program guide. Also, i can't change the channel while it's recording but i can watch a dvd while it is if i want to.
We started season 10 yesterday. If i hadn't been called in to work last night we might have gotten more episodes done.

I was watching my TiVo last night and the main menu had an ad for a great deal on a new one. So did my email.
So I bought it. It'll be here sometime next week.

I haven't hooked it up yet. So many complicated steps, and then there's the new problem of never again being able to change the channel by walking up to the TV set.
I'm concerned it may not work for analog. If not, I have to wait until the day they make the big change.

I hope it works out when you do get it hooked up. We finished the show on Saturday. Now my mom is after me to buy season 8 of Supernatural. I told her i will when we'll have time to actually watch it.

And the bad news just keeps coming.
I pulled out the furniture so I could plug the cord into the phone jack. I had to squeeze into the small space between there and the wall--it was hard enough to move it as much as I did--and the cord didn't fit. So I went to the directions, something I should have done in the first place. I thought it was as simple as plugging into the phone jack like I did with the first one, but no. This one requires a broadband connection. Or I could use the cable that the signal comes through. I wondered why I couldn't just do that. Meanwhile, I did all that work for nothing. Well, not nothing. I may plug a phone cord into the jack in case I ever need to use it.
I also realized there is not a simple wire that I can plug into the back of the TV set like I did with the first one, the same way the cable from the cable company plugs in. I'll have to either buy the part or ask for help, but something tells me the part can't be used here. The three wires were an option the first time.
But here's the worst part. It does not work with analog cable. I have to wait until the switch to use this. The good news, which is also bad news, is that this is coming soon.
More bad news: I need a box for my old TiVo, even though it works with digital cable.
The directions say I need a cable card from the cable company to use the new one. The man did say I could get that and then test the machine. I have only a few days left in which I can rerurn the TiVo if it has a problem.
I am dreading not being able to watch TV the old way any more, although I use TiVo for most of my shows anyway and have gotten used to clicking on "Watch Now" after going through the listings. But getting up and walking to the TV to change channels is about to be a thing of the past.
