I still have 23 minutes to wait for it to come on EDT. I thought the shows aired here first. Moon must have connections at the network. You know how I love to play around with the space-time continuum. Have you seen next week's episode yet? It's a doozy. (kidding, kidding ) P.S. If anyone wants to see the episodes a little sooner on the night of broadcast, please send me a PM. It must be late ...I actually reacted to the "next week's episode" comment before seeing you were kidding.

I watched it. Like "Revolution", it's different. It's much scarier than "Once Upon a Time" but has a similar concept. But I don't believe that on that show outsiders can't get in. Otherewsie where would they get food, medical supplies, etc.
This should get interesting once they start running out of things.
I won't say I enjoy it that much but I can't not watch it.

I like this concept and I like this show...so far. I first saw this concept in an old b movie...something to do with Mushroom People ...or something like that. It surfaced again in The Avengers #126...on a much smaller scale.
Still...it is good stuff and I will be tuning in every week.
P.S. I do not like the idea of anyone being chained up in an old atomic bunker against their will.

Does anyone know how many episodes there will be? Apparently this might not be a mini-series after all. 13 episodes according to this article.“Under the Dome” brings thought-provoking Stephen King thriller to CBS June 20, 2013 | By Stacey HarrisonSmall towns are often referred to as being isolated and cut off from the rest of the world, but that expression takes on a horrifyingly literal meaning in CBS’ Under the Dome (premiering 10pm ET Monday). The tranquil hamlet of Chester’s Mill is going about its Norman Rockwellian existence one day when suddenly an invisible dome emerges and encapsulates the entire town, not letting anyone in or out. That’s when the 2,000 or so residents become a microcosm of society, with the major players including Dale “Barbie” Barbara (Mike Vogel, Bates Motel), an ex-military man now making his living as a waiter; Big Jim Rennie (Dean Norris, Breaking Bad), the town’s powerbroker who owns a popular car dealership; and Julia Shumway (Rachelle Lefevre, Twilight), the feisty newspaper reporter. The origins of the dome — Is it a government conspiracy? Aliens? Supernatural? — make for the major mystery in the first batch of 13 episodes, which use Stephen King’s 2009 doorstop of a novel as inspiration. But it will be watching how society breaks down in this new reality, setting off a conflict between those who use the situation to become more powerful and those who would rise against them, that will provide the true drama. *** Vogel also showed appreciation for getting to play in the giant sandbox that is the Stephen King universe. He was able to talk to the author during his visits to the North Carolina set and get input on the character, even though the TV adaptation differs dramatically from the source material.Entire article at www.channelguidemagblog.com/?p=87366

I caught a commercial this week which stated that it was NOT TOO late to get involved in the show...or something to that effect...
...and I caught something out of the corner of my eye...
...and I waited...
...and I saw the commercial again to confirm...
...and....YES!
Barbie was beating the stuffings out of Jr.!!!!!
Now, I do not know if this will be in the next episode...as they did show scenes from the pilot as well...so I am thinking it was a mish mash of scenes from many episodes...
...but that scene DID warm my heart!

Now you can see why I almost missed it the first time....! AND in the shorter version it didn't show that Barbie was beating up Jr. because of the girl Jr. was holding captive... ...but it seems clear in this one!

SoCal, don't read this post until you have watched the show. < < < Call me crazy, but I think the split cow was awesome! Barbie placing his hand on the cow and then leaving the mark on the dome was an excellent intro. Disclaimer: Comparisons to the book are not a criticism of the show...just an observation.I agree with Moon that the change in the radio station will remove a lot of the drama that was involved there. In fact, the people at the station appear sane - which is a major difference from what I expected. It DOES look like a movie! And it moves right along at a brisk pace... In the I-called-it-before-it-happened (without having read the book) catagory: ... the "wacko-crazy guy" who locked his girlfriend in the bomb shelter... ...and... ...the reporter lady's husband was the guy being buried at the top of the show... I TOTALLY did not see coming - the sheriff's pacemaker exploding after he touched the dome... ...but I GUESS I should have seen it...as he was about to tell the lady cop stuff that had been going on... I like the varied characters...and their varied reactions... Can't wait to find out what "the stars are falling in lines" means that the frothing mouth/seizure girl who was the daughter of the lesbian couple...and the frothing mouth/seizure boy...was talking about. This show IS getting me to tune in next week! Kudos for predicting some of those actions. I totally did not expect the dead guy to be the reporter's husband. That threw me for a loop. Big Jim's son is wacky...but did his girlfriend have to be so coldhearted? As he said, "Ouch!" It is a trifle awkward for Barbie to be staying in the dead guy's house. I wonder how that will play out. Big Jim did not waste any time establishing that, as a councilman, he can add police officers. I can't see how that final scene at the radio station (those of you who have read the book know the one that I mean) will have the same resonance and insanity if the radio station folks are pretty normal, and even likable, as it does in the book, where it is a kind of crazy fundamentalist religious station. I have a concern that perhaps the 'true gin' (as Hemingway would say) of the story has been sacrificed in order that we didn't alienate (said with a straight face) potential viewers.

Particularly the idea of moving the story beyond 13 hours, and instead of making it the complete story that King wrote, dragging it out a la Lost. Brian K. Vaughn is one of the best writers in comic books these days and has won a slew of awards, but his work on Lost scares me because of the potential to extend this over numerous years with an unsatisfying ending. Once bitten, twice shy, you know. So far, I have to say the story seems very close to King's novel. And that's not a bad thing.

Comments, as I watch the episode. Beware, possible spoilers here for those who haven't yet. #1. I love the fact that a girl is the engineer at the radio station. In my 20 years in the medium I never knew, worked with, or heard about a female radio engineer. But, if we'd had one she would have been considered a Godess. Phil: "Now why is it that engineers always act superior to DJs?" Dodee: "Because we're smarter, Phil." I LOVE this gal! She's right. #2. The DJ is using Koss Pro4AA headphones at 5:18 into the show! These were huge and kind of a greyish green, and the workhorse of radio in the 70s and 80s. Better ones came out later, but I still have a pair that work great, and I wouldn't give anything in the world for them. The great thing about Koss headphones--if they broke (a short in the connector cord, usually), you sent them back to the company and they fixed them for free. That's why all the radio guys used them. Plus, they sounded awesome. One thing these guys got right about radio. 3. I have to wonder if Chester's Mill, Maine is not a salute to Grover's Mill, NJ, the site of the original Orson Welles radio (there's that word again) broadcast of The War of the Worlds. 4. Dammit, they got me, and it was so easy. All it took was the dialogue between radio engineer Dodee and reporter Julia at 17:59 in: Julia: We're under a dome. Dodee: Yeah, that's what they keep calling it. Julia: Why haven't you told anybody? Dodee: We're not a news station. OK, they won me over with that.

Julia: Why haven't you told anybody? Dodee: We're not a news station. I thought it was that they didn't want to scare people any more than they already were. But in this situation, you pretty much have to be the news station. Julia did the right thing. I might as well go ahead and make all my comments in this one post. I like those kids who got out of their trig test. Of course, one is such a math nerd that he took a much harder trig test and passed. See, you do use this stuff in the real world. I have no idea what he did, even though I took a course called "trig". The preacher was safe (there's your fundamentalist, Moon). Then he ends up trapped in the burning house? I don't get it. There are people on this show who know something. It should be interesting finding out what.
