Sometimes I am sad that my favorite stars do not get even a nod at the Emmy Awards.
This time around, I have a reason to watch.
Game of Thrones
When "Game of Thrones" star Emilia Clarke learned of her Emmy nomination this morning, she had this to say: "Yer chomoe anhaan. Jin ha Khalaan, shekh ma shieraki anni."
That isn't jibberish — Clarke's statement was in Dothraki, a language her character, Daenerys Targaryen, speaks on the show. It means: "You do honor to me. This is for the Khal, my sun and stars."

This is the 26-year-old's first Emmy nomination, for Best Supporting Actress in a drama. "Game of Thrones" received 16 total nods, the most of any drama series. Clarke's co-stars Peter Dinklage and Diana Rigg also received nominations.
Clarke's Dothraki statement might be one of the most unusual reactions from an Emmy nominee. Actors often take the opportunity to crack wise. Amy Poehler joked, "I appreciate the nominations. I love my job. But nice try, guys. I'm not falling for this old trick again," While Sofia Vergara said, "I better not finish this cheesecake then."
Clarke made a joke of her own to the Los Angeles Times, saying that Daenerys' dragons were really responsible for her nomination.
"I think probably my dragons did it. Maybe they were scared," she said. "No — I'm lucky enough to get to play a seriously strong woman who is going from strength to strength, and if you're a woman who is empowered, maybe you like that."
