;D ;D
Yay! CW decided to bring back the series that follows a troup of ballet dancers to the airwaves. I watched the first episode last night. Looks like we're in for some major drama.....again.
Poor Ronnie! He broke a bone in his foot and his surgical pin area is now infected. His ballet careet may be over. That would be awful since he's such a wonderful dancer.
I'm looking forward to more episodes.

Watched episode 2 last night. Just like last season, this season is full of angst, jealousies and bad behavior.
I don't remember Jason from last season but he is a jackass. He's jealous that Beckanne has "stolen" his best friend from him. Chase and Beckanne are a couple and Jason doesn't like it at all. Even though he seems to have a boy toy to lounge around with.
Ronnie was only seem for a couple of minutes. He's resting his foot and hoping the infection just goes away. I wonder how that's going to turn out? He and another female dancer, named Silver" share a place together. Don't remember her from last season either.
Alyson is serious thinking about hanging up the toe shoes after this season and moving to Detroit (!) to marry her doctor boyfriend. He wants her to give up ballet. Aren't there any dance companies in Detroit? Well, it is bankrupt.
Christina (prima ballerina) and her husband Chris seem to go be going through some rough times. He' directing a company within the company and it's taking time away from her. We haven't heard from him what he thinks about this, but Christina seems to be thinking that now she can spend time with her friends. Hmmmmm.
The company is putting on "Cinderella" this season and everyone is grasping for choice parts. The English (former) ballerina who owns this particular production is pretty tough and doesn't seem to care for Christina (too tall), Beckanne (too young) or Rex (injured/hasn't been jumping yet). Who'g gonna get the choice roles.
Something tells me Rex doesn't the Prince Charming role because we see him crying in the preview for next week's episode. No hints as to who gets the Cinderella roll.
Haven't seen anything relating to Rex's brother and the ballerina who left the company last season. Wonder what's going on with them?
Fun, fun show!

#rd show of this new season. Not the best episode. Jason raged at Beckanne and Chase about being pushed aside. Jeez, they're a new couple and would like some time alone. Not with a little queer boy who wants to hang out with his best male buddy. Wonder how that makes HIS boyfriend feel?
Casting for Cinderella. Adam has decided that since it's a strenuous ballet, he will have 3 companies perform. Lots of people didn't get the parts they wanted and there was ongoing angst. This went on for the rest of the episode. Boring.
Oh, poor Rex. They left his name off the board in the slot for the prince because he is getting over an injury and Adam doesn't know yet if he can be the best in the part. He still has a chance at it though, unlike Ronnie who is still walking around on crutches.
Next week Alison is going to tell Adam she may be leaving ballet at the end of the season. He doesn't look too happy.
Hope it's a better episode than this week.

I enjoy reading the summaries. It is almost like I know the people even though I have not seen an episode.

I was tempted until I saw it was a reality show.
I can enjoy a show more if terrible things are happening to people who aren't real.
I might have at least liked the music.

Episode 3 last night......
Jason, the obnoxiously over the top gay dancer was in his element, pissing off Ian and other male dancers by bouncing and prancing around the studio seeminly in happiness over his selection to play a role in the upcoming "Cinderella" ballet AND making fun of two of his rivals who didn't get plum parts. He is annoying.
Ian is rehearsing his small role and seems to be having pain in one of his ankles (which Jason can't help making fun of) but seems to be holding up.
Allyson is telling her girlfriends she has decided that no matter what happens with contracts, she is going to tell Adam she is leaving the company to move to Detroit to marry her doctor boyfriend.
Chris and Christina contiue with their marital problems.
Ronnie is at the gym looking forward to getting the "cast" off of his foot. He's determined to be in the best shape possible for his return to the company. He arranges a "boys night out" for some of his friends and they end up at a bar with scantilly clad women dancing around poles! Chris isn't happy. "I am a married man." The only one seeming to have the most fun is......Ronnie! Well, Ronnie has told us how much he likes a variety of women. Wonder if Silver (his ballet dancer/roomate knows that?)
Adam is sweating over the final casting postings, wondering if Rex is well enough for the tough role of the Prince in "Cinderella." He and Rex talk it out and although Rex tells us he knows he isn't completely well, he tells Adam he's sure he can do the role and invites Adam to watch him do a difficult run through. Rex finally gets his wish as the final casting list is posted and his name is on the list. I'm sure Christina is relieved as well since he is her partner and if he wasn't on the list it might mean that her place as Cinderella in the ballet could be in jeopardy.
Adam starts of his contract talks with....Allyson. She tells us she's prepared to tell Adam she's leaving no matter how much he wants to give her. They have a real quiet talk with Adam telling her how much he admires her and how he has given her tough tasks knowing she could meet the task. Allyson is looking sad and Adam asks her if she still loves to dance. She says "yes." Adam tells her he is promoting her to soloist....quite a big deal in the dancing world. Allyson isn't sure how to react. She's grateful and hugs Adam telling him she has a lot to think about. As she leaves his office, Allyson tells us she is going to Detroit on a 3-day break to see her boyfriend and tell him about the promotion.
Allyson goes to Detroit and meets Ronald, her boyfriend. He's in the midst of a 4-year residency (he's got 3 1/2 years to go) and is anxious for Allyson to give up dancing, move to Detroit, marry him and start a family. We learn during this talk that he hasn't seen Allyson perform with Ballet West....that Allyson has asked him to come to a performance and he never has! She tells him she loves to dance and wants to continue. He's quietly upset and says the ongoing long distance relationship is in peril. The last we see of them, Allyson is getting on a plan back to Utah and Ronald is driving off from the airport.
Whew! Next week, Allyson and Rex talk about her promotion and Ronald's reaction to it. The company prepares for the opening of the ballet.

Episode 4 last night......
Everyone is practicing for the opening of the ballet, "Cinderella" and Adam wants to get the drama of contracts and who gets jobs/promotions/dismissals over with. I find it a little goofy that he would tell dancers they aren't going to get a contract for the next year BEFORE they perform the ballet they've been rehearsing for weeks. Why would I want to perform to my highest effort if I knew that when it was over I was out of a job? I don't get it.
Ian and Jason were competing for the one spot available with the company and Jason got it. Ian was devastated and called his girlfriend to let her know they would have to move on.....another company and a different state. No other ballet companies in Utah. I hope Jason tones down his over the top gayness. It's really annoying.
Josh didn't get the promotion from apprentice to company member, but was asked to stay on. He clearly wasn't happy.
Beckanne told Adam she was frustrated with the little she had been given this year, since last year it seemed that Adam was giving her great parts. She felt she was stagnanting. Adam told her that "calmness is not stagnation and next year, as a soloist, she would be working even harder." So Beckanne got a promotion from demi-sololist to soloist. She's elated.
Christiana and Allyson are having a heart to heart about man problems in the ballet world. Allyson, before her trip to Detroit, seemed to be determined to leave the company, give up dancing and marry her boyfriend, but her promotion to soloist has her confused. Christiana is thrilled about her promotion and gently supportive of her continuing to dance. I agree with her. I find it cruel that her boyfriend wants to give up her career so he can start a family. Christiana tells her to think about it for a while and not to let it become a callus that will only continue to haunt her if she makes a hasty choice to give up her career.
Rex wants a promotion. Adam tells him he isn't sure and will have to discuss it with him AFTER the season ends. He likes Rex's dancing but thinks he's a bit of a drama queen about his injury. I haven't seen that, but I'm sure there's a lot we don't see. Rex hides his disappointment.
Rex and Allyson sit together and talk. Allyson tells him about her promotion and Rex tells her he's been put on hold and says if he doesn't get a promotion he will probably leave the company. Rex tells Allyson he's proud of her and her promotion and Allyson looks pleased and relaxes. I wonder if they will become a couple again.
Christiana and Chris seem to be coming to the end as a married couple. Christiana tells us that Chris isn't making her a priority and Chris tells us about all of his responsibilities. I wonder what will happen to them? I can't imagine a divorced couple dancing together, but stranger things have happened.
Next week....we get a peek of Christiana in tears holding her foot and Adam saying he "can't lost Christiana (his lead in "Cinderella") due to an injury!" Drama galore.

I watched a lot of the episode before I had to switch to UTD.
I was surprised that the dancers did not break down and become overwrought when they were disappointed.
I guess I have watched Hell's Kitchen and other shows for so many years that I became used to tears.
I was a little amused by Beckanne writing down her comments because Adam was not mean to any of them during the interviews.
I agree that telling people they do not have a contract before the performance is not a good idea.
So You Think You Can Dance did that one week this season. The next episode they apologized and said they would never do that again.

Episode 5....
Big, BIG drama. As the company gets "Cindarella" ready, no one seems to be happy, except maybe Beckanne, who got her mojo back after taking a trip to her old ballet studio in Philiadelphia. She spent all four years of high school there and watching the younger kids perform FOR HER and seek HER APPROVAL seems to have reinvigorated her.
Allison is still undecided about Jonathon and giving up dancing with Ballet West. She says he wants her to move to Detroit because he doesn't want her near Rex. And Rex is being very supportive without pushing himself on her. Josh asks Rex if he thinks there's a possibility of them getting back together. Rex says he doesn't know, but the he'll "always be her friend. And if that's how she wants it, I'm fine with that."
Christiana and Chris seem farther apart than ever. I wonder what exactly happened to them? They seemed a tight couple last season, and now, Christiana won't even speak with him (or look at him) when they're in the studio together. Chris seems to think he's taken on too much with being a principal dancer, the leader of Ballet West 2. He thinks he probably hasn't giver her the attention she needs. Christiana, while on the phone with her brother, says that when this ballet is over she will probably move out and concentrate on herself.
Rex is concerned with his lingering injurty and just hopes he's able to dance well. Christiana doesn't help by telling him he needs to be strong and well so she can dance. Rex tells her not to put any more of a load on his shoulders than he already has.
Finally, at rehearsal, Adam is called to another part of the building because Christiana has landed a leap badly and fears she sprained her ankle. Allison and Adam (separately) tell her not to make it worse than it may be but Christiana fears if the injury is bad she might not heal and may never perform again. At 33, she knows she's close to the end of her ballet career and if it the end, she wants it to end with a sucessful performance in Cinderella.
Next week.....it looks like lots goes wrong during the performance. Jason's wig falls of and a ballerina (not sure who) falls, stopping the ballet while various people in the wings run to her aid. I sure hope it's not Christina.

Episode 6.....
Well, it's finally time for the dress rehearsal for "Cinderella." The performance is scheduled just a day after and this is the first time they've tried everything together on the stage and with all the costumes.
Funniest thing? The wig falls off Jason's head during rehearsal. Saddest thing? Ian breaks his thumb during rehearsal and after trying to dance and lift a female dancer has to bow out. All that work and he doesn't get to dance.
Rex and Chrisitiana are really nervous. Christiana still isn't talking to her husband even when he comes up to her to find out how her ankle feels. It still hurts but she'g going to dance. Rex is concerned that he cannot feel some of his foot but says he's good to go. He misses a couple of lifts and of course that makes everyone crazy.
Allison left a ticket at the box office for her boyfriend, who still hasn't talked to her or said if he's even going to come to see what could possibly be her last dance performance. She and Christiana try to comfort each other.
The ballet is performed and everyone does well....except Jason's wig falls off. He recovers it well so we'll have to see if Adam rips him. He holds performers responsible when their costumes don't hold together.
Beckanne performs well, but Adam is a little critical saying that now that she's been promoted to principal, she has to be even better than before.
Allison, poor Allison, she performs well, but admits she's constantly thinking about whether or not Jonathon is in the audiance. Near the end of the performance she peeks out to the seats and sees the seat she reserved for him is empty. What a jerk. She says that may help her decide whether he loves her or not. She calls him after the performance and he wasn't even working that day. Christiana tells her not to make the same mistake she did. I guess she's referring to her marriage. I really wonder what happened between them this past year.
Well, the first performance is over. We'll just have to wait and see what happens next week.
What drama!

Episode 7....
The ballet is put on during a two week period during this episode. It's nice to see that there were no horrible mishaps that happened during the dress rehersal. And Jason's wig never fell off again. Adam was a bit stern with him, telling Jason that those things do not happen and he has to be more careful.
Even though Josh wasn't promoted, he's still given a spot as an apprentice with the company for the next year. His mom comes for the final show and it was really sweet how they interacted. They both love each other and were not ashamed to express it.....his mom keeps telling him how proud of him she is and he keeps telling her how it's all because of her. Really touching.
Christiana is a mess. She dances beautifully but she goes on and on about how screwed up her personal life is. Several time Chris approaches her and tries to talk, give her kleenex and wish her luck and she absolutely ignores him. It's getting harder to feel complete sympathy for her. Chris, in an aside, seems to admit he hadn't been paying enough attention to her and was too focused on his job with the company. He tells us he's alone is unhappy. Christiana tells us she's moving out. Sad.
Beckanne has been involved with another dancer in the company...someone whose status is very iffy. She's afraid he's going to leave the company after the season ends.
Allison is still pretty upset over Jonathan's refusal to come to see her dance. She tells us she thinks he's done with him and admits that Rex's support make her think of him romantically again.
Rex is afraid that after the season ends, Adam is not going to give him a promotion. He says he's going to dance his heart out, but if he doesn't get that promotion.....he's gone.
The "Cinderella" two week performance ends. Everyone goes out for an after-season party.
And some questions are answered: Beckanne's boyfriend, Chase, tells her he got a contract and you can see in her face semi-shock that this is the end. She smiles sweetly and congratulates him, and he tells her quickly....."Doesn't matter because I'm staying here!" Hugs and kisses ensue.
Allison says she is done with Jonathan and thinks she loves Rex. They seem cute together and I hope this time it works out. They both love to dance and seem to be a good pairing.....hope they don't end up like Christiana and Chris.
Rex goes to see Adam. Adam goes on and on about how unsure he had been that Rex could pull off the leading roll as the Prince in the ballet....that his injury and nursing of hit had him worried. But he ends with......promotion! Rex is thrilled.
Christiana drives off somewhere.
The only people we really don't see are Ronnie, who looks like he's healing up well from his injury. We don't see Ian at all....not too surprising since he's going to be out of a job at the end of the run of "Cinderella.
Adam tells a select, small group of dancers that he's taking them to California for some fund raising. We'll see that next week.
And, oh, yes.....at the after season party, Adam is presented with a check for $300,000 by a female patron. He's blown away. And she may give more as the seasons progress.
Next week is the season finale. We'll be seeing what happens to the small group of dancers in California.

Episode 8 (Season finale)....
Ian packs his bag and empties his locker and leaves the troupe. We hear that he had gotten a contract with another company in another state and that he and his girlfriend are setting up house together.
Adam takes a group of dancers to California to perform at a fund raiser at a beautiful mansion in Mailbu. Some of dancers come along for the ride but do not perform (Ronnie, Jason, Chris).
Beckanne does a lovely solo. Christiana and Rex perform a duet from Cinderella and Rex and Allyson perform a duet to a modern piece of music. All lovely.
Christiana packs up and goes home the next day. She doesn't want to be around Chris. Chris stays to have some fun but he's clearly upset by how his marriage to Christiana is crumblimg. He's preparting himself for a divorce. We still don't know what happened to them between this season and last season.
Allyson asks Adam for a private meeting and tells him how she had been prepared to retire at the end of Cinderella. She gives him some papers and ......... they're her acceptance of his offered contract. Allyson tells us she's done with Jonathon and she realizes she loves Rex!?!
Rex and Allyson are very close during this trip but Rex tells us he's going to take it slow with Allyson. Seems a wise thing to do since she's broken his heart before. Allyson, of course, thinks it would be perfect if Rex could forget the past year and just be with her. Don't think that's going to happen.
Adam tells us how much he loves his troupe of dancers and looks forward to the next ballet season. Ronnie tells the group how much he's missed dancing with them this year and in 2 weeks gets his "boot" off and is reading to start dancing again.
Guess we'll have to wait to see if they have another season.

Thanks, AA. I must say, though, that I was disappointed that almost evey episode focused quite a bit on Chris/Christiana marriage train wreck, but we never really found out why Christiana was SO upset about problems in the relationship. Every week we saw her ignore Chris when he approached her until I finally started rooting for him instead of her. She came across this season as a whiny baby.
That being said, I hope it comes back for a new season. I love watching the dancing!

It does seem unfair to not reveal what caused the problem. There is only one thing that could be that devastating... ...he said she was getting fat.
