I read the story Pinocchio after seeing the Disney adaptation of the book and I must say I really detested the book.

Where do I begin?

Pinocchio is a disgusting little boy puppet who is rude to Gephetto, he drinks, he kills, he swears, he causes the Blue Fairy to die, he is sold when he is a donkey to the circus, he cares for no one except himself. It is only at the very end of the book that he redeems himself by rescuing his beloved father from being eaten by the whale.

I can't stand him and after I finished reading the book I was so glad I had finished it, I have yet to re-read it a second time. It is one of those books I really hated and the entire book was just a hopeless mess full of disaster, greed and selfishness. It is one book I don't recommend people read, it is not for children and Walt Disney definitely cleaned up this bad boy puppet considerably from the book version. If you ever read the book you'll see what I mean.

I loved the "Fae Fever" series of books but I do need to vent about what the author did rather than what the character did.

During the final chapter of one of the books, the heroine was subjected to something so horrible and prolonged that I was in disbelief. I kept saying this can't be happening...someone is coming to the rescue. Each page was agonizing to read.

Then the author wrote a "letter to the readers" to let us know she understood we were upset. That did not make me feel any better.

I hate when that happens
There was a series I read that really upset me at the end the whole time you're hoping for these characters to finally be together but when they finally get to be they are both so messed up from the trauma that they can't enjoy their relationship nor their lives
It seemed at the end the author just didn't care

I read a book I really detested and it sucked badly. The book was Joey Pigsa swallowed the key. The story revolves around Joey a boy raised by grandmother and is craving attention so badly he does dangerous things like swallow his house key. He hardly gets much love from family and he starts goofing off just to be noticed. A truly horrible book.

That is a shame. I do not think we are supposed to be upset and disappointed at the end of a story.

Maybe some authors do give up by the end of the story. I am glad we have this thread to vent about it.

Def some do! And I too am glad to be able to vent here because it beats venting to people about fictional characters they have no idea about and end up looking at me like what the heck is wrong with you lol I get enough of those looks anyways lol

I was even talking about this same series with someone I work with and they too were upset
