Sleepy Hollow Pilot Mon 9/16/13, 9:00PM-10:00PM on FOX
Premise: Ichabod Crane awakes from the throes of death 250 years in the future where he must solve a mystery dating back to the founding fathers. Due to a blood spell cast on a battlefield during the Revolution, the infamous headless horseman is revived along with Crane, and the murderous rider embarks on a bloody rampage in present-day Sleepy Hollow. Ichabod realizes that he must act quickly, for the headless horseman is only the first of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Detective Abbie Mills, a woman familiar with supernatural experiences, forms a bond with Crane as they try to stop an increasingly vicious cycle of evil.

I have spent a lot of time in the town where they filmed the pilot. There were people who were disappointed when the decision was not made to film the series here, though it did cause a lot of disruptions just to film the pilot. I remember all the noise and all the trailers and the road closings one day when I was at the library. I was fortunate that filming hadn't started for the day when I left to go home. I was on a street that was closed but there were no barricades for traffic coming from my direction. The scenes were taking place after dark, though.

Kyle, I wonder if you will recognize the area on screen.

I started watching last night, but I need to finish watching it today.
So far, I can tell that I will enjoy the series. Ichabod is snarky and I am enjoying his adjustment to being resurrected 250 years in the future.

The show is great. I loved it! The villain is scary and very dangerous. The protagonist, Ichabod, has made allies, but are they a match for the headless horseman? I was hoping people would tune in and they did. "Fast National ratings for Monday, Sept. 16, 2013 The first new network series of the 2013-14 season got off to a good start Monday: FOX's " Sleepy Hollow" tied for the lead among adults 18-49 in its hour and helped the network capture the demographic crown for the night. "Sleepy Hollow" was way up over FOX's "Mob Doctor" premiere in the same spot last year and even bested last spring's premiere of "The Following."

Not to mention the demon that has Ichabod wife's captured in that dimension...which the demon exits through a mirror to kill people who serve him but displease him...
LOTS for Ichabod and Abbie to deal with...mostly on their own.
I was hoping the priest would survive...because he knew stuff...like where the head was buried...that Ichabod found...and the sheriff...I would have liked the sheriff to live...and the sheriff was a good quality actor just like the sheriff on UNDER THE DOME...and he knew more than he told his lady deputy before he died...just like in UNDER THE DOME...
...a NEW TREND in television shows?
I like how Ichabod is adjusting...pretty impressively...and mostly HE is the one looking at people like THEY are the ones slow to catch on...
...because they ARE slow to catch on...even though Ichabod is dealing with more. I was hoping people would tune in and they did. When the clips of future episodes were flashing onto the screen, I saw what looked like four horsemen. I hope that does not mean they failed. Maybe the scene is part of a story that Ichabod or another priest is telling. The mirror demon was confusing to me. I do not know if he wanted the head for his own purpose or to help the horseman. But I am not familiar with a story arc where a horseman would be working with a demon. I agree they killed off some very good actors in the first episode.

Kyle, I wonder if you will recognize the area on screen. I definitely did. There were two locations I recognized. When the camera was flying over the town, nothing looked familiar and there is no bridge like that around here either. So I don't know where those scenes were filmed. I was disappointed (and I'm sure people in the town were too) ot to see the name of the town in the credits. They said filmed on location in CHARLOTTE. I don't recall any filming there. I didn't read about what the people in the town had to say, but the Fox affiliate's newscast has a reporter who I like to watch whose reports are usually shown at 5:50 Mondays and Wednesdays, right after I get off the computer. Instead of him on Monday, they had a report from the town where everyone was excited about seeing the show that night. There were going to be parties. The college library did not get Tuesday's paper and even though I went to the library in that town, I didn't take the time to look at the paper there. Another paper this week had an interview with one of the men who played Ichabod. He didn't know who he was going to play, but he had to wait a long time during the night to be called. They showed him wearing Ichabod's boots, lying beside the Headless Horseman, and carrying the horseman's head. There may have been other scenes. I think he said he appeared five times. He sort of looked like Ichabod, which was a requirement for the role. Now about what I recognized. I had a green light where I turned left Tuesday morning, so I only drove through the one location once instead of twice like I usually do. And then the road was closed due to construction of a new building. But the next street over is no longer one way, so I didn't go back there. I did drive through there on the way home, and on one of the filming days, that was a street that was closed to most traffic but I was able to drive on it because it wasn't barricaded in the direction I was coming from, even though there were noisy trailers all over the place. The location was used three times, at least. It may also have been where the police car turned upside down because of the way they moved the camera. The red reality psychiatrist from "Awake" arrrested Ichabod there after making a quick u-turn. Abbie also took Ichabod there when she went to the church where the priest was killed. And I believe it was the buildings across the street from the ones I saw in those two scenes when Abbie and Ichabod went off together when I don't think they were supposed to. There was one scene where I didn't recognize any of the buildings. One looked like the old post office, which was in those three scenes I mentioned above, but I'm not sure. There was a church I had never seen. The church where the priest was killed was one I have walked past many times. On the Fox affiliate's newscast, they said a cemetery was created on that church's lawn.

I mostly liked the pilot. The actor playing Ichabod is very good. I liked the comedy. I'm surprised no one mentioned there was a black president, but maybe that would be too much for Ichabod to take in.
Some of this other stuff is too much like "The Secret Circle" and those vampire shows for me to enjoy it.
I forgot this. Did anyone notice the bloopers? It was dark in two scenes but when the camera angle changed the sun was out.
This is quite understandable when you think about how long it took to film everything.

I forgot to mention that in two of the three scenes in that one location, you can see the tallest building in town. It has offices and residences, and retail as well as the CBS affiliate's local newsroom on the ground floor. In the other, you can only see what's across the street.

They re-ran the pilot episode again on Saturday. A little silly, but fun to watch. Now I know it's on Mondays @ 9 pm. Will have to set my VCR.

I enjoyed the humor. I guess you are catching on that I do not like the scary shows to actually scare me. *laughing*

I just got done watching both episodes and i really like it. They seem to be doing a great job w/the mythology aspect of it and can be predictable most of the time but i'm going to keep watching. I'm just a tad worried about where they are going to go once all the horseman are brought in...

An editorial cartoon in the newspaper for the town where the piot was filmed (whose building was supposedly given the name of Sleepy Hollow's paper, but I don't recall seeing that, even though their building was right where those three scenes took place) had two men at a water cooler. One was asked his impression of the show. The other said he tried to follow it but his head wasn't in it.
Wait, that's not right. It's a familiar expression ...

I didn't notice this but I keep reading that one other landmark was used in the pilot. It's close to the intersection where I turned on to that street that I said was used three times.
When I read that someone was killed next to the bell tower, I was thinking of the church where the cemetery was. Now I'm starting to wonder. I think there are two bell towers, but when people talk about the "bell tower" in this town, they're referring to one that was rescued when the rest of the church was torn down and replaced with a new builidng.

The printed TV listings showed two "Bones" episodes. My TiVo showed the pilot would be on again. I could have watched to see if that building was the one I was led to believe it was, but I had too much else to do.

The newspaper where the pilot was filmed had a list of top stories for 2013.
One detail I missed is that someone stole one of the cop cars.
