Who'd have thought when we first began watching Dean and Sam take on supernatural evil, we'd be here 8 seasons later gearing up to start season 9? It looks like we're still in the angel/demon mythology, so here's hoping the season doesn't disappoint. Let's start it off with a bang. Be sure to watch and vote.

I'm going to have to watch the episode again. Not sure how I feel about Bobby's appearance. Dean and Bobby were in Sam's head and what they were saying to him was actually Sam's thoughts? Good to see Death again, but could he also have been a creation of Sam's mind? I don't remember him being that warm and fuzzy before. Ezekial is hurt by fighting with another angel but he can still "possess" Sam's body? How is he going to heal Sam? If Sam finds out he's possessed, he can eject Ezekial at any time......and will die? Dean sure recovers well after a major beat down by the angels. Fallen angels seem to have certain powers but not all of them. Huh? Castiel is human? What part will he play in the upcoming season. Will he join Dean and Sam in hunting or will he be focused on "helping" the fallen angels. Without his mojo, I don't know how he will do that. I'm just not sure about the direction the season seems headed in. Your thoughts? Have I missed something?

So Sam in a coma, says this to Dean (in Sam's head, through Bobby, also in Sam's head: “First of all, you didn’t rescue jack, halfwit, Sam did. Second of all, Sam, you’re in a coma. Now suck as that may, sometimes that’s just the way things go.” -Bobby to Dean and Sam Is that really how Sam thinks of Dean? If that's so, what a jerk.

SoCal, you observed some troubling issues. When Dean and Bobby were in Sam’s head, at first it seemed like an internal struggle to either hold on or to let go. Then, the comments about Dean did appear harsh because Dean was very willing to take on the trials. I was thinking Sam was really conversing with Death. Otherwise, their conversation would make Sam seem egotistical and I have never thought that of him. I think Sam’s conversation with Death shows clearly that he wants to let go, but Dean guilt-tripped him into staying. Who could resist Dean when he says “There ain’t no me if there ain’t no you.”? I enjoyed the episode very much, starting with the “previously on Supernatural” clips. I loved Sam’s expression when Crowley said “I deserve to be loved.” *laughing* [glow=red,2,300]Flaming wings [/glow]– awesome! As soon as the doctor said Sam’s survival was in God’s hands, I thought that is not the best thing to say to Dean right now. I am glad he did not hurt the doctor. I have always enjoyed the Cas humor, and this episode was no exception. I laughed when he told the truck driver “I heard angels” and then “I would fly but I do not have wings at this time”. I think the entire scene with the biker was hilarious. Then, oh Lord have mercy, Castiel stripped down to his boxers. Learned something new – angels built the Grand Canyon. I liked the Vulcan mind meld. Angels could set up shop and make a living by letting people know what their loved ones really think of them. I am disappointed Ezekiel left his vessel behind as I was looking forward to more eye candy. (He was Helo in Battlestar Galactica.) The boys have kept secrets from each other before, but there has never been anything of this magnitude. We know sooner or later the crap will hit the fan. Castiel is on his way to the MoL bunker.

I have watched this about 3 times now like I always do, I find I need to in order to catch most of what was in an episode. First off, just a few things I noticed while watching the episode When Sam and Dean are in the car talking before Bobby shows up and Dean has told Sam that they are in his head, there is no car sound anymore. When Cas falls after almost getting hit and his hand is so bloody and after he gets in the car accident and is bloody, why is he so clean and not bandaged at the end of the episode when we see him in the Laundromat ( that scene ) Same for Dean to when it comes to getting beaten up, he sure does heal quick Onto the episode - I LOVE the S9 title card, I think it is great, about 1000% better than S7's I am not sure how I feel about the whole Sam/angel story because I see so many problems coming for Dean with this, because he has made a choice for Sam that is probably not the choice that Sam would have made. I am not going to bash the episode, because I want to see where it is going thru the season. I am not sure yet about Ezekiel, did we really see what Sam was thinking, or was it just what Ezekiel wanted Dean to see, it wouldn't be the first time the angels have shown the Winchesters the wrong thing. I was happy to see Dean try to save Sam as he always does, but to also try and get Cas to look out for himself, He genuinely seemed to care about Cas and was trying his best to get Cas to listen to him. I was also impressed by how Cas seemed to care more about Sam's well being than his own. These 3 guys care about each other and are willing to do what it takes to help the other. It will be interesting to see how the angel/demon wars heat up and what happens this season. SoCal, what you said about our little show that could starting S9 I know people get mad at the show and don't like the directions it goes in, but we still have this show and we can still watch it, and unless they do something really stupid like kill off Sam or Dean, then I will keep watching till the bitter end.

AA, I'm surprised Crowley hasn't been able to get out of the Impala's trunk or that Abaddon hasn't found him in there yet.

I would say Abaddon is looking for a vessel, but I think she is using the same body. Maybe Dean put special demon warding on the trunk of the Impala, but she will find a way to get to them. Abaddon is scary. Crowley seems still weak from the torture of being injected with sanctified blood...poor baby.

I am going to watch it again.

ok, I noticed a couple of other things on a couple of more viewings.
When Dean is almost done praying in the chapel, he lowers his head and as he does, a single tear rolls down his face, it is hard to catch.
When Death and Sam are talking and Sam asks Death to fix it so that he can't come back again, you hear the same wind sound that you hear when the car sound goes away when Sam and Dean are talking.
I am now wondering if Ezekiel is who he says he is, and not someone else?

I am glad you made note of the teardrop and wind, etc. After reading your comments and watching the episode again today, I focused and I saw the teardrop...it was beautiful. I think I was focused on the words before. If Metatron had not been so shady, I would trust Ezekiel without question. I want to trust him and the boys do need an angelic ally. In addition to that, Sam is going to be livid when he finds out about the angel in his head. If the angel is a villain, that will make it worse. I wonder if Crowley will be able to tell there is something inside of Sam.

November and AA, you both make me watch episodes over again to catch things I missed during the first viewing. I missed the tear as well. Dean really cannot face life without his little brother. I wonder if the whole Death/Sam interaction was just another instance of Sam talking to himself in his head. And I believe that Ezekial is the one who bursts in and tells Sam to say "yes." I don't like that some of the angels aren't the good, pure things that God made them. It does make for good action, though.

I also think it was Ezekiel who told Sam to say yes but he had Dean's consent. So Dean will take the brunt of Sam's anger. I was shocked that some of the angels turned out to be villains and I kept waiting for the producers to go up in flames. I do like the angels being portrayed as warriors though but they should be fighting to help mankind. I wonder if we see an even more dramatic spin to the angel-demon story this season.
