You didn't read it carefully. This was a joke.
Carrie was giving her a boost to break into Carrie's second-floor apartment after Carrie lost Carrie's keys, and Carrie could see what was under her skirt ... which was nothing.
I saw a commercial and her breasts are hidden by a fan as she comments on how hot it is, but it appears she's not wearing anything.
Edit: Without being very specific, some of what I said could be misunderstood.

She put on underwear after getting it out of the refrigerator, a trick she learned while living in Florida.
She was wearing next to nothing while doing Jane Fonda exercises.
I halfway suspected Carrie's male friend was the gay one because it bothered him for her to be naked so often. The other time it bothered him was when she was in the tub and didn't warn him. We didn't get to see that.
