Uh oh, Metatron is back. Is he working with Ezekial? What does this mean for Dean and Sam? And since this is the "mid-season finale," I think we're in for a hell of a cliffhanger. Watch and discuss here.

SoCal, it was too fast for me to pick out Metatron, but I will take your word for it.
I am concerned about what Zeke did and whether he hurt someone we care about.
It looks exciting.

AA, I saw some photos from the episode in another website, and they showed that Metatron is back. In one photo, you see Metatron and Samzekiel talking together, alone!

Oh no! I do not trust Metatron at all. I hope they give us at least one pro-human angel other than Castiel. I do not consider Metatron pro-human because he had a good idea of the havoc pissed off angels would cause on earth.

I had to give some thought to how to rate this episode. I know Supernatural treats the angels harshly, but this episode was brutal. I am giving it a 3 because it was interesting. I think they are going overboard with the "angels are dicks" story. On top of that, I think Cas is going to act like the other angels now. I enjoyed the light-hearted Cas who wanted to be one of the guys at the beginning. Then, everything went downhill. Metatron is awful and I am very disappointed that Kevin is gone. I have not seen anyone be resurrected after they are fried by an angel that way. Zeke said that there was no more Sam and that he had been imitating Sam. I do not believe him because I do not think he would have badgered Dean about the loss of time when they were on the road. He is lying...he had better be lying. I truly did not think angels could suck up other angels' grace. Amazing!

I gave it a 4. I thought it was a terrific episode with lots of action and some heretofore secrets being brought to our attention.
Don't know why it took until now for the angel war to come up on the boy's radar. It was fun to see them with Castiel who seems, somehow, to have kept the FBI badge Dean gave him....what, way back in season 4?
That Metatron....he seems too slimy for words. Sorry to see he's convinced Gadriel to join him. Why am I not surprised to see that the angel possessing Sam lied to Dean about who he was? Although, I doubt Dean would have know Gadriel was in Heaven's prison for letting the serpent into the Garden.
Sorry to see Kevin get iced. I wasn't all that attached to the character, but he was a good guy, helping the boys and the fact that he got burned to a crisp by Gadriel was sad.
Geez, Dean is going to feel really bad now. He's feeling guilty about letting an angel possess Sam from the get-go, but finding out that the angel lied to him to get access to Sam, the fact that he tricked Sam into saying "yes," and got Kevin iced is going to really make him feel like sh--.
Is Sam really gone? I think not, but you never know with these guys. It's gonna be a long hellatus.

I went with a 4 for this one, but only because there isn't a 3.5 or 3.75 category and I really liked this one but it is just shy of a 4 for me. I really liked this one with the major exception of killing Kevin I have grown very fond of Kevin and the support and friendship he has offered the guys. I am with Anti to an extent, are there no good angels? Why can't we see one or two of them, in all of SPN we have only seen 2 or 3 of them, surely there has to be some? Moving on- I was happy to see TFW back together even though it didn't last long, and I enjoyed how the guys got along however briefly. The small conversation between Dean and Cas about why Cas can't stay, Dean was as honest as he could be at that time and Cas showed no hostility towards Dean and even called Dean and gave him crucial information about Sam. I was wondering who "Zeke" really was, but I had been leaning more towards Lucifer or someone else, I enjoy the quirkiness of Metatron but I am starting to be annoyed by his manipulations, again, any good angels? I don't think that Gadriel was in control of Sam all thru the episode, I think it was only in the last moments that he took full control. I liked smart Cas, how he took Theo's grace and became an angel again, though it does make you wonder why he didn't do it before? and since this isn't technically his grace what effect that could have on him and will he be powerful? I don't know if he will be like the other angels but I do wonder if we will see a less naïve one and if he will have a harder edge to him since they kind of forced him to "be a barbarian". SoCal, Cas got the badge in S5 5.03 Poor Dean is broken, in his quest, drive and zeal to save Sam and in doing what he had to do(common theme) he has ended up with no brother and Kevin gone I am wondering if Dean has finally hit bottom, he looked broken at the end and in his voice was total despair. I am wondering how Dean will manage with all his guilt over Sam and Kevin, is he finally going to realize that at some point he can't fix everything? I felt so sorry for Dean at the end and Jensen did an amazing job of conveying all the emotion he could into his voice and his face at the very end. All the main actors were great tonight and for only the second time the 'bad writers did a decent job" It is going to be a long hellatus.

I am so very interested in seeing how Dean feels following the disasters in this episode. The way Dean kept calling Kevin's name, he did not believe what he was seeing. I had trouble believing it too.

Dean's reaction to the news that Ezekiel is dead. Yes...I am shallow and thought Dean looked gorgeous in spite of his shock and dismay.

I will be shallow with you and say I thought Cas, Dean and Sam were all really good looking in this one. I need to do a re watch on this, well all of them, so I can remember where the season left off at.

Hi Long time no see. Reading your reactions was like old times. I heard hub bub about this episode on FB. So I've seen it. I agree it was heart breaking, and no good angels are beyond disturbing.
I'll note one thing that I'm sure they meant to be disturbing about. Both Cas & Gadreel said, "I did what I had to." Yeah, don't want Cas going down that path.
It's amazing how SPN finds challenges for Sam/Dean. That's difficult for one relationship that almost 10 years old. It's cool that SPN's new team answered a fan lament during S6, to see more of an angel civil war.

Hi Yim, , Not only did Cas and Gadriel (sp) say I did what I had to do, but Theo and Dean said that also. It was pretty much a recurrent theme thru the whole episode. I just watched this one again and I have changed my mind on when Gadriel took over Sam, I think it was more in the middle of the episode when Sam comes back from meeting with Metatron for the second time, his posture and stance seems a little different and he moved a little more purposeful which is how Gadriel moved, he was deliberate in how he moved. I think we are all in agreement that we don't want Cas to go down a dark evil path, I am ok with him being more BA and less naïve, but I don't want to see evil Cas again!

Goodness gracious no! I do not want to ever see evil Cas again. An angry Castiel is terrifying, but an evil Cas is horrifying. Okay, Gad took over Sam after the second meeting with Metajerk. That makes sense. He did scare me though when he said there was no more Sam - not that I believed him. Every time I post in this thread, I think of Dean's anguish and get emotional Yim, I did not know fans wanted an angel civil war. Maybe they wanted to see them throwing lightning bolts and doing other supernatural stuff. The vicious hand-to-hand combat is rather chilling.

I really enjoyed the episode. Well acted and good writing. But why Kevin why why why. Bring Kevin back damn it I liked that dude. I think Gadreel is conflicted and is mistakenly following Metatron I'm hoping he can change. But based on the previews I think it will be brute force the expels him from Sam's body. I agree with astounding angel I like the lighthearted learning to be human Cas. I liked him experiencing human emotions including fear and pain. Sam is still there and Gadreel was lying. There would be no show if Sam was gone and that would be a big mistake on the writer's part. The writers need to stop killing off my favorite characters. Frank, Benny, Bobby, and now Kevin stop it right now!!!
I liked the part where Cas took the other angel's grace. It was new and unexpected twist. Since a vessel and only contain one grace at a time and barely that (some vessels explode)this doesn't open the door to angels taking each other's grace. Which would be lame. I like it as a one time only Castiel thing. There is still a part of me that wishes Cas didn't get a grace back. Plus no more turning Cas evil please I don't like him that way.
So let's review. We have two sets of angel teams fighting each other, Abbadon taking control of hell against Crowley's will and Metatron is the only angel with access to heaven. Plus Crowley appears to have a human blood addiction. This is a big mess! Which is great because it gives the writers so many ways to go. Don't screw it up writers. I can't wait to see what happens next.

I would like to see Kevin continue but I am not optimistic. I do not hate Gadreel but only because he is being manipulated by Metajerk. Castiel fell for the manipulation and it took a while before Dean and Sam realized Metajerk could not be trusted. Metajerk was not a warrior angel; by his own admission, he was a nerd. So it should not be too hard to defeat him.
I think Abaddon is the scariest big bad since Lilith so it will be interesting to see how she is handling the demons. Exciting times in one more week.

Metajerk is smart and because his vessel is so unassuming most people under estimate him. But I agree Abaddon is scary as hell plus she has really awesome hair. Interesting to see if Abaddon and Metajerk team up. But they probably won't Abaddon doesn't seem like the team up type. More like seek and destroy.
