Oh my gosh, the second half of the season looks SO intense. I don't know how I will survive when more of this little group gets iced. And I am losing hope that Carol returns since I did not see her in any of the previews.

The Dead are back! So sad to see Hershel's head lying on the ground, turned into a zombie. But Michonne won't leave him that way and almost tenderly puts him at peace. Then she turns two of the Governor's fellows into two zombie "dogs" and walks them out of there. The backstory on Michonne was a little confusing. Were both those guys involved with her. Good to see our old Supernatural/Leverage buddy even for an extremely short appearance as one of her lovers and presumably the father of her child. Now we know why she didn't want to hold Judith at first and then seemed to melt. Awww And were they the first two guys she had maimed and chained to her when she found Andrea? A very Carl-centric episode. And he has grown up so much that he doesn't annoy me the way he used to back in seasons 1-2. He thinks he would survive on his own but finally sees that he needs his dad and others. "I win." Chocolate pudding! And when Michonne finally decided to ditch her herd of walkers, brought on, I think, by seeing her double as a walker, and finds Rick and Carl, I almost cried with her. "It's for you." Great last line to a terrific first episode of the season. Looking forward to what the next weeks bring, but nervous about who won't make it!

"It's for you." Great last line to a terrific first episode of the season. Agreed. It is certainly a phrase that has probably not been uttered since the walker apocalypse started. When I saw Aldis Hodge in the beginning credits, I was hoping that he was going to become a new cast member. A dream sequence is better than nothing, though. There were some silly rumors that the governor might still be alive…very happy to see that bullet hole right where it should be. I have a bad feeling about Glenn and the bus full of the Woodbury refugees. I don't think any of them have character names and that kind of makes them seem expendable. Perhaps The Hunters get them…? See you next week. Same zombie time…same zombie channel.

I approached the episode with trepidation expecting it to be tragic, and then it turned out to be one of my favorite episodes.
The back story on Michonne was something I have waited a long time to see. At first, I thought it was a flashback, but then realized it was a dream sequence that took us back to when everything was normal for her and then her world changed. It appeared that Michonne adapted better than the man who seemed resentful of her skill with the blade. They asked her what was there to hold onto and she did not have the answer at that time. While on the road, she had an epiphany and realized she had the answer to that question now.
Michonne kept looking at her zombie double and she did not want to end up like that. She has not lost her edge and she was magnificent with the blade when she destroyed the pack of walkers. I loved the scene where she looked in the window.
Carl has been strong and tough throughout the turmoil and it was time for him to vent the anger, frustration and pain that he had bottled up inside for so long. I did not fault him for what he said, but I was glad Rick was not alert and able to hear it because I think Rick already felt responsible for what happened to his people. Carl did put himself in harm's way while Rick slept but I do not think he will admit it. The 112 oz. of pudding was a nice touch and eating it showed that there is still some childlike qualities in Carl.
I enjoyed the scene where Rick and Carl talked and Rick told him that he is now a man. That was a warm exchange and was much needed following the way Carl acted on their journey.
It is hard to believe there were only three of the survivors in that episode...but I loved it.

I kept thinking about the scene where Michonne made the decision that she did not want to return to the way she was living before she met Rick & Co., so here it is.
