Just now saw this and wanted to pass it along. He was one of my favorite actors and I've never seen him in a role where he was not just mesmerizing. "Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in his Manhattan apartment, the Wall Street Journal reported Sunday (Feb. 2). The 46-year-old actor's cause of death has yet to be determined but the New York Police Department is investigating and a law-enforcement official confirmed to WSJ that the Academy Award-winning actor died in his 35 Bethune St., West Village home. The New York Post reports that Hoffman was found dead on his bathroom floor of an apparent drug overdose by a friend at 11:30 a.m. According to the New York Times, the friend visited Hoffman's home after he could not get a hold of the actor and grew concerned. WSJ criminal justice reporter Pervaiz Shallwani tweeted that Hoffman was alone at the time of his death and the man who found him was screenwriter David Katz, with whom Hoffman had recently been working on a project." So sad he did have a drug problem for most of his adult life.
It is being reported that he died with a needle in his arm.
I don't think that he was on any ones bucket list.
Once again Hollywood has lost a wonderful actor who never just phoned it in no matter how small or large of a role he had in a movie.
Demons are hard to kill.

What a jerk.
Three kids under 11 and he's f--king around with heroin. "Oh, I love my kids more than anything." Bullscat. I am so sick of hearing about over paid people who play dress up for a living who complain about the problems/demons in their lives. Newsflash: everyone has problems/demons to contend with, but not all of us deal with it by sticking a needle full of narcotics in our arms.
Boo-freaking-hoo.

As someone who lost a parent because of something they had no control over (not drug related), it really pisses me off to see other people just throwing their lives away.

I remember the first film I saw him in, "Boogie Nights." He was a minor character, but stole every scene he was in. There was no ignoring him anytime he was onscreen. He had more than the 'the camera likes you' quality, even though his characters were far from the ubiquitous physical beauty we see so often. It's like he took the camera hostage, and there was no getting it back.
When he played Truman Capote, the role that won him an Oscar, I was amazed at how he got the voice and the mannerisms exactly right. It was like Capote had come back to life.

I just saw on the Daily Mail UK website that Jared Padelecki is getting grief for tweeting something to the effect..."Sad is not a term I would use for a 46 year old who threw his life away to drugs. Not sad, stupid is more like it."
Good for him and screw the people who are slamming him. I suppose now that he has two children of his own he sees that a parent shouldn't be f--king around with something like heroin. And all the other actors who don't condemn his actions while expressing sorrow at his death are as big an assh--e as he was.

I hate people who get on their high horse. People use drugs. Get over it!!! And why the FUCK should other actors condemn his actions?! This sickens me that so many asshats take it upon themselves to judge drug addicts.
