I never thought I would say this, but I would not want to lick the sugar off of Dean's lips. He is willing to do anything for a laugh.

Although, I also had to sigh, since it's just ONE MORE TIME, we see Dean stuffing his face and Sam giving him a "bitchface."

Dean can cook for me anytime. I would love to see waggy3015 swoon and be caught in Sam's strong arms.

Oh, AA, you poor east coasters are always having delay problems! Well, that and snow. I still miss our old CW Lounge buddy, LoveJeter, who used to give us a running commentary on "Supernatural" as it aired. I wish she would come to this lou nge.

Those live recaps were fun to read. My daughter came over and we chatted for hours waiting for Supernatural. Imagine our shock when we saw the basketball game was on. I will check the local schedule from now on.

It is scheduled to start at 11:00, but it started later than that last time. I should schedule the recording to end an hour later than scheduled; then, I will prop myself up in bed to watch it.

Although I cannot really discuss this episode at midnight, I must say they have finally done the impossible... ... they have broken my heart!

As I relaxed while propped upon several pillows, I viewed this episode as a typical stand-alone hunt for Dean and Sam. There was mystery involved and that led to me guessing why some people with the suction mark lived while others died. It was revealed that there were two suckers a/k/a fish tacos pishtaco; one was greedy and one was cautious.
During the hunt for the greedy sucker, Sam became cornered and was in personal danger. Dean arrived on the scene and cut the pishtaco’s sucker off and saved Sam.
The real heart of the episode was the final scene with Dean and Sam where Sam said what many of his fans have been saying for years…that Dean has a hero complex and saved Sam because Dean cannot bear to live without him…alone. That did not hurt too badly because there is an element of truth in it. But this comment did hurt: “I’ll give you this much, you are certainly willing to do the sacrificing as long as you’re not the one being hurt.”
When Dean defended himself by saying Sam would have done the same thing if Dean’s life was in jeopardy, Sam said that he would not. I felt Dean’s pain. Truth or not…it hurt…badly.
Dean: “If the situation were reversed and I was dying, you’d do the same thing. Sam: "No, Dean, I wouldn’t. Same circumstances, I wouldn’t."
I am giving it a 4 (3 for being a good episode plus 1 for the excellent emotional scene at the end).
I am going to watch the final scene again...it made me too emotional last night to dwell on it. I can't help it...I love my boys, darn it!

Although I cannot really discuss this episode at midnight, I must say they have finally done the impossible... ... they have broken my heart! That final scene between Dean and Sam was torture. What is going on with Sam? Why would he say such a terrible thing to Dean? The only reason Dean stopped him from completing the last of the three tasks was because it was a trap set by Metatron and wasn't what the boys were led to believe when they first agreed to take them on. And Sam cried that Dean was always choosing other "brothers" than him. When Dean told him that wasn't true, that he always chose Sam...over anyone else, it was Sam who agreed to stop the final task. And how was Dean supposed to know that Sam was "ready to die?" Remember it was Gadreel in the guise of Dean who appeared to Sam. Why is Sam still so angry that he wasn't allowed to die? If that's the case, then in the last two cases he's been on, there have been plenty of opportunities for him to let himself be killed. But it sure didn't look like he wanted to die then. Could this antagonism toward Dean be because of the mark of Cain that Dean now has burned into his arm? Cain told him there were consequences to having the mark, but Dean told him to "save it. You had me at kill the bitch." Perhaps Cain was alone because his mere presence caused others to fear/loath/dispise him without even knowing why. I hope this is the case because I'm starting to dislike Sam and his attitude toward the brother who went to Hell to save his life. I've spent this whole post talking about the last scene of last night's episode. That's because it was the best part. The rest was sort of forgettable.

I could not think of any reason for Sam hurting Dean in such a harsh manner, and you have offered an explanation that I find acceptable. I hope the mark of Cain is the reason behind the harshness because I need something to help me to get past it. The final scene upstaged everything else in the episode.

AA, it looks like we'll have two weeks to ruminate over this episode since the show is taking a "Sochi" break. I'm sorry they're doing that since I would much rather watch "Supernatural" than ice dancing. Also, I'm confused. It looks like the boys are hunting together again in the next episode. If Sam truly dislikes Dean, why are they still living together in the bunker? Why hunt together? I'm so confused.

SPN has finally done it, they broke my heart with the last 5 minutes. I don't want to hate or bash Sam or Dean. I have read comments and other reviews and some of the tweets that say they are rebuilding the relationship and now they can start working on fixing the brother bond. I think that would be great, if they hadn't already crushed our hopes, or at least mine. Though I don't really want to talk much about the episode I do have a question and then I have some examples of events that have happened in the show that make you wonder how much truth is in what Sam said.
Sam has said several times, he was ready to die, does that mean that he was but isn't now? He has had to be saved the last 2 episodes, he didn't act like he wanted to die from my viewpoint. If he wanted to die, then why not let the monster win? Yet, he fought against the monsters both times.
S1 Pilot, Dean goes to get Sam at college, he could hunt alone but doesn't want to S1 Faith- Dean has been gravely injured, Sam goes and finds a faith healer to cure Dean S1 Devil's trap- Sam trusts Dean's instincts when John is possessed, he doesn't shoot John because Dean begged him not to. S2 John saves Dean by making a deal S2 Sam is infected with Croatoan and Dean refuses to kill him, even though Sam begs him too. S2 Dean makes a bad deal in order to save Sam. S3 Sam begs the trickster to reverse his spell and bring back Dean S3 Sam finally agrees to work with Ruby to save Dean, but it is too late S3 Dean goes to Hell as a result of saving Sam S4 Dean gives up Anna because Uriel threatens Sam ( Dean says he doesn't break easy in that episode, but it is a lie where Sam is concerned) S4 Sam and Bobby fid a way to cure Dean from ghost sickness S4 Sam has went with Ruby to kill Lilith but Dean still comes to help Sam. S5 Sam lets Lucifer out of the cage, but Dean and Sam realize they keep each other human S5 Anna kills Sam But Dean begs Michael to bring him back. S5 Sam/Lucifer goes to fight Michael/Adam and Dean goes to Sam so that he won't die alone. s6 Sam has no soul but Dean finds a way to bring it back, at a price. s6 Even as Sam is suffering hell visions and is putting himself back together, goes to Dean so that he won't leave his brother alone. S7 Dean leaves Bobby a message saying that he will take his beautiful mind brother and drive over a cliff if Bobby has died. S7 Dean finds a "healer " to help Sam with his hell visions.
These are just a few of the examples I can think of off the top of my head where these guys have sacrificed for each other or fought for each other, or moved mountains to save each other. Even in this episode they both showed that they cared about each other, Sam went to Dean when he called and Dean saved Sam again from the monster. I just don't get it.

Thanks novemberschild Those are excellent examples of the many times the guys have saved each other although there might be unforeseen consequences. No one could foresee that an angel would kill Kevin and I do not think Dean should be blamed for that. I have watched the final five minutes of the episode numerous times (I guess I am a glutton for punishment) and I do not see a bridge to strengthening the bond between Dean and Sam. I thought they already had an unbreakable bond...until this episode. Does Sam want Dean to say that he will never make another decision about his welfare without Sam's permission? Is that what it would take?
