This series debuted Monday on The CW. I thought all CW shows were supposed to have their own boards.
I know that alien from somewhere. At first I thought he was Ashton Kutcher but he's too old and already has a series.

We need a board!
I think I'm going to like this show. As long as they don't focus on the romances as much as the commercials suggested.
It's a lot like when segregated schools integrated, only with the kids carrying around phones. Nice phones, by the way.
Life in 2024 isn't too different from now. 80s music seems to have made a comeback. I was surprised at the John Lennon reference. These kids won't know The Beatles.

Pilot (aired 2/17/14)
The pilot was okay and it showed the issues the aliens will have to overcome if they live with humans. This Romeo and Juliet drama has been ratcheted up another notch with the fatal shooting of the leader of the aliens.
I like the fact that the aliens do have a way to heal people and I think they should keep it secret. Otherwise, the human scientists would use them as lab rats.
The resistance to integration of the school was realistic and actually less violent than the historical integration of some of the U.S. schools.

What happen to Hart of Dixie that was supposed to be on at this time slot? March 21. A Friday. I'm not crazy about the romantic stuff but it's an interesting story nevertheless. It's always good to see people trying to make this work. That little girl was cute. Those parents were looking at those aliens like they were evil. But they have reason to be scared.

It still looks interesting, though there's too much mean behavior for my taste.
The ordinary people seem to be reacting like white people in the South did when forced to have black people around them.

It does remind me of the way people acted during integration. It might be interesting that the son wants to replace his father on the council.
I watch so many shows that I don't know if I will be able to keep watching this one.

One of the posters on this site attacked me for saying that (whether it was here or on the CW site, I don't remember), but like that man from "Duck Dynasty", if I didn't see it, I didn't see it. I may have seen incidents on the news, but that was different. I went to school with black people from the first grade. When I was in third grade we moved and when my school burned, we got sent to the black school, which was integrating anyway. I don't recall any problems and for years I wondered why black people thought their schools were inferior because this school was nice. Edit: I just want to point out the school fire was during a severe thunderstorm. Part of the school was still there because they had fire doors to keep the fire in one wing. But there wasn't enough room left for all of us.

Now that I am on the laptop, I want to mention some of the elements of the show that I think are very interesting.
Some of the students and one of the security personnel are Atrians who have removed their markings.
Can Roman's uncle be trusted to keep the peace?
I was amazed when the unique plants appeared to grow from the corpse of Roman's father. Did that happen because Roman was leaning on his father?
When Roman and Sophia's friend made contact, her body reacted and she realized that he had to be involved in her recovery. I hope she keeps that information private.
I personally witnessed it. White people were against "bussing" and integration and were vocal about it. At first, it seemed that the children who were sent to the white schools were selected based on their personalities. I mean they were unlikely to cause problems or get into fights. As integration became more widespread, fights did break out.

I think I did see some racial fights, but it was long after integration.
I saw a review of this show that said people in Louisiana should have made more progress after 50 years.
Another place I saw this described as a "Romeo and Juliet" story.

I'm not clear on whether giving Roman's sister caffeine was intentional.
I did like seeing the girls in swimsuits.

At least Knox's son is safe. But the poor kid is being taken away from his mommy. I wasn't totally convinced this legendary safe place really existed.

I had hoped the true nature of Grayson's parents wouldn't be revealed, just because of what it would do to him. But better that than the miracle cure becoming known.

That was pretty exciting. If they hadn't gotten to the Cyper in time, the whole world could have ended up like Luke. And it was all they could do to save just him.

I'm caught up, but there are other shows for which I will have to watch a marathon. It should be fun.
The problem is if I have that much time in one evening, I should read newspapers.

I'm caught up, but there are other shows for which I will have to watch a marathon. It should be fun. The problem is if I have that much time in one evening, I should read newspapers. I was wrong. Things happened this week that indicate I missed an episode. This can only mean I didn't see it on the list, and that could be because I kept extending the life of other episodes and didn't realize that this one got deleted. I know the yellow light is my warning that it's about to get deleted, but some yellow lights are less serious than others. It's the exclamation point you have to worry about. So we now know why the spacecraft crashed. Yes, it's true that Atrians were going to die one way or another. Sort of like Hiroshima and Nagasaki. And now the Romeo and Juliet relationship is becoming known. And that's something that doesn't interest me. Instead of floating offenders, Atrians put them in the crate.

I watched the episode I missed online. It was helpful that I already knew some of what was going to happen. I already had seen Mr. Burke but didn't understand his role at the time, which I would have if I had seen the earlier episode before. That teacher sure is pretty but she's not nice.
I thought it seemed like the hurricane formed too quickly, but now we know where it came from, if not why.
The kids were told to stay away from windows but that seemed to be the only place most of them were.

Taylor is pregnant! That's going to be interesting.
At least people who have figured it out think it's Emery.
Interesting Internet technology they believe will be developed by 2024.
And they didn't destroy the Suvek. Uh-oh.

I don't know. There has been some interesting stuff.
The CW strategy for tonight is to take advantage of our being in the habit of watching aliens on Monday night. They're airing a movie I saw a year ago about a new kind of Apartheid in South Africa. Aliens who look nothing like us and don't speak much English, if any, are being held in a kind of prison. At least one is sympathetic and may be able to help improve relations between humans and aliens. Even thinking aout this movie depresses me because I saw it either the Sunday after I came home from the nursing home last year or the next Sunday.

One of my favorite newspaper columnists lost his mother recently and he had to write her obituary.
She was living in assisted living. The place was called Atria.
