I loved the drama between Daryl and Beth and I am giving it a 5. They made the right choice for a two-character episode...mesmerizing. At first, I thought it was dangerous for Daryl and Beth to hide in the trunk of a car and then I realized the walkers were too close for our guys to outrun them in the dark. Our guys get tired but the walkers just keep moving. Kudos to Beth for not screaming when the walkers were touching the car. There are so many differences between Daryl and Beth… …Beth catches and admires a ladybug…Daryl catches and strips a snake to roast it …Beth gingerly picks at her roasted snake…Daryl bites right into it …Beth runs off when Daryl ignores her silly request…Daryl silently lets her go while he remains in protection mode. …Beth was disturbed by the insult to the dead woman…Daryl did not think it mattered. Beth surprised me when she defied Daryl and refused to return to the camp. Then they traveled to a country club that had a lot of dead people and some of them were hanging from ropes. Gruesome. I wonder if some of the people committed suicide and did not know they would become walkers anyway. Found out later the rich patrons were hung by staff members during a class war. That went completely over my head. Beth does fight when necessary. Darn…Daryl beat the walker to death with a golf club and the blood splashed on Beth. She earned my admiration when she did not freak out. Beth found some peach schnapps and asked Daryl if it was good and he responded “No.” She finally broke down and cried. I thought we were going to have a touching moment with Daryl comforting her, but he grabbed the bottle, smashed it to the floor and told her he would not let her first drink be some damn peach schnapps. LOL My man Daryl knew how to find a stash of moonshine. “That’s a real first drink right there.” EMOTIONAL DARYL! I loved the emotional scenes with Daryl and Beth. It was powerful and I learned a lot about Daryl and Beth. The burning of the house was a symbolic cleansing of the miserable life Daryl led before the apocalypse. He can let go of his past and embrace the man he has become – a provider and a leader. I had my first good laugh of the season when they showed the middle digits to the house.

All good points and observations. I think that I am in too much of a hurry for reunions. A lot of those things escaped me the first time around. Luckily, I have it on tape …so I will be paying better attention next time. I saw a picture of Emily Kinney on a Walking Dead site. The caption said " If Beth dies we riot! "

I am enthusiastic about watching this episode again. That is something I never thought I would want to do - watch an episode twice, but I really enjoyed it.
Last season, Beth seemed like a sweet girl but I would not have expected her to be able to protect herself. She has evolved into a very interesting character and I hope they do not kill her.

I did not enjoy this episode at all. I was hoping they'd switch back to Tyrese and Carol like they did in the other episode. I just felt nothing remotely interesting happened. Beth wants to drink... whoopie. Daryl opened up to her a bit... but was that information really necessary ? Not enough to fill up a whole episode with them talking. I think we learned far more about him in the earlier seasons, when he revealed his scars and his interaction with Merle.
Was I the only one who thought Beth was a goner?? Not because I don't like her, but because like literally nothing happened in the episode, I was expecting them to shock us at the end with her getting bitten or something.

Although I did not think Beth would die in this episode, it did cross my mind that they were setting us up to really like her and then kill her in the next episode. That is what they did to one of the stars on Person of Interest.

I finished watching this episode the second time and I enjoyed the hell out of it. I watch TWD because the characters are so interesting. I suffer through the zombie stuff just to get to the characterizations.
Daryl is a mean drunk and I think that is typical since he has so much anger bottled up. The way he was throwing darts and swinging the golf club was a good indication that maybe he was too pissed off and should not be drinking. But Beth is too young to understand that.
When the apocalypse happened, Beth was getting to the age when she and her friends would have been sneaking drinks and spiking punch at parties. She missed all of that and her life has sucked for a long time. She wanted to do something she missed out on and when I look at it that way, wanting to have her first drink no longer seems silly. She missed out on that but Daryl revealed he missed out on all the things we take for granted like a decent home and vacations.
That unlikely pair survived zombie attacks and emotional crises. Well done.
Speaking of Tyreese, did anyone else think it was dangerous for Tyreese to be walking through the woods with 2 young white girls? I was sooo glad that Carol showed up before they ran into some racists who would have shot him on the spot.

Frequently asked question: Why did the group not have a plan on where to meet if they got separated?
Norman Reedus explained that their “get on the bus” exit strategy was designed to escape from walkers. They did not have a plan to escape from an assault that included a tank.

Another thing that bothers me, and doesn't necessarily pertain to this ep, but EVERYONE assumes that the rest of the group is dead. Like really? I don't get why they're so hopeless. Everyone in that prison (outside of the woodbury people) has proven themselves as survivors. So I really don't get why Daryl assumes everyone is dead. Why Tyreese and Sasha think the other is dead... and so on.
