In the previous episode (The Messenger) Joe Carroll told Emma it is time to let the whole world know he is alive. Joe's announcements are accompanied by murder and mayhem. So this episode should be a thrill ride.

Joe Carroll is ready to wreak havoc. He staged a coup against the man who welcomed Joe, Emma and Mandy into his cult. They never intended to become one of Micah's worshipers. Joe divided the group by encouraging Micah to kill his wife. Then Joe killed Micah and took over the cult.
Joe staged a bloody massacre at a book signing for the reporter who wrote a book about him and sent a video with a threat that if she did not air it, her loved ones would be killed. I think she would have aired it without the threat!
Joe's message was way over-the-top and I could tell he was enjoying the thought of how it would be received. It said no one would be safe...not in their homes...not in the streets...not even where they eat. He also said something like his name would live forever. Let the killing begin!
Joe and Mike tracked down the FBI mole and that did not end well.
It was really tragic that Mike's father was murdered and the videotape was released for him and others to see. He was heartbroken.
I am a wee bit uncertain about the significance of the final scene where Mike was blindfolded and taken to a secret location. He seemed very surprised to see the lady there. She looked like Ryan's niece to me but I guess she was not.
