You are welcome.
When this season started, I was disappointed that Root could also communicate with the Machine and wondered if she would be equal to Harold.
During the introduction last night, Harold and Root both did the voice over. Imagine my shock...they are making her equal to Harold.
At first, I thought Root was a homicidal flake, but her character has developed into a worthy foe or ally, depending on the situation. She is as tough as Shaw and probably more deadly. I no longer want them to eliminate her but I do not want her to compete with Harold.
What do you think about Root?

This is a very exciting episode in which all of the main characters were involved in protecting a Person of Interest from both Decima and Vigilance. Decima wanted to use the person to gain entry to a computer chip that is powerful enough to activate the second Machine. Vigilance, of course, wants to stop them. Root made some very clever moves free a convict from a prison envoy, use him to obtain a special package, and then return him to jail with advice on how to get protection in jail. That was lighthearted stuff for Root. She then smooth talked a janitor, Cyrus, into going to breakfast with her while she waited for further instructions from the Machine. She learned Cyrus’ life took a sudden turn when someone broke into his company on April 4, 2009, and shot everyone which wound up killing his best friends. We learn at the end that Root was the assassin. Finch received Cyrus’ number from the Machine and interpreted that to mean whatever Root was doing could cause the man to be killed. Reese and Shaw arrived on the scene just in time to eliminate a sniper sent by Vigilance and to help Root and Cyrus to escape Decima. Lots of exciting stuff. Shaw became trapped by Vigilance and took out around 8 men by herself. After Decima interrupted the signal between Root and the Machine, Harold corrected the problem. Then Root went to a doctor and coerced him into doing something to her ear and it seems like she has uninterruptible communication with the Machine now. They did not really explain what was happening. I always enjoy the tête-à-tête between Root and Finch. During their conversation, Root revealed that it is important to her to protect Finch. After all the excitement, Decima still got away with the chip and it was uploading at the end of the episode. During the upload, we could see the machine was signaling threats to itself…Reese 56.9%, Shaw 49.16%, Maria Martinez (Root) 76%, etc. Those threats will be targeted for elimination.
