Television Without Pity Closing

I'm very disappointed to tell you that the Television Without Pity website that some of us have loved for eons is closing down. I first discovered them back in the day of the original WB board. Their recaps of Smallville and related threads were some of the funniest, snarkiest posts I'd ever seen. For an example that will only be relevant to Smallville fans, it was they who came up with the name 'Stompy the Wonderhorse' for Lana Lang's horse, after he trampled her in one episode. Their website was founded in 2002.



I had no idea whatsoever that TWOP had been bought by NBC Universal, the company that decided to close it beginning April 4th. However, in a grand gesture they are keeping their user forum up until May 31st. By contrast The CW gave us only a couple of days notice when they closed our forum. We have been though the same situation, although more disheartening. TWOP is even allowing members to post contact information, unlike The CW, who deleted such posts as soon as they sprang up.

I plan to post an invitation on their forum for members to join us.

TelevisionWithoutPity.com will cease all editorial operations on April 4 and the site will be taken offline.

However, the forums will remain open until May 31 to continue to provide our members with a place to debate, discuss and deride all the shows we love and love to hate. Obviously, we are all sad about this, but we are keeping the forums open for a grace period so that you can contact your fellow posters and perhaps find new places to continue your conversations. There may be some technical glitches going forward as most of the site is shut down, and we ask for your patience as we figure things out.

The only horrible stories you would hear were from folks who were not witty enough to survive. If you could post there and make people laugh you were a thousand times golden.

Kryptonsite, although a great place, was pedestrian by comparison. We did funnier stuff on the WB and The CW often.

Sometimes we equaled or surpassed TWOP, but on a day to day basis they beat the pants off everyone. That's why I'll miss them.
