I don't think that I like Mother's Day all it does is remind me that I no longer have a mother it is hard enough that I remember her on her birthday in February and in August when she died I don't need to be reminded that I'm an orphan.
My mother was one of the few mother's that worked full time and she made more money than my father, who did make a lot of money working as an optometrist.
She was always home when I came home from school I was not a latch key kid. She worked as the Head Nurse (she was in charge of the whole ward, not just an RN she was the boss of all the nurses on the ward for all of the shifts) on the TB Ward for Kaiser.
She worked either the swing shift or the night shift so that she could be home during the day for her litter of 6 kids.
I will always remember my mother, my friend who loved the great outdoors we would go camping on her vacation with all her kids in tow she even went camping with 3 kids in diapers one year. My parents took separate vacations my father was not crazy about camping and my mother was not crazy about going to Canada to visit my father's family.
They both got 2 vacations when they took separate vacations as one parent would stay home with an empty house to take care of while the other parent enjoyed the company of way too many kids.
It was a good system they were married for some 32 years until her death they both loved and respected each other with many things in common not just husband and wife as they were best friends.
My house was filled with loved, laugher and way too many dishes to wash.
