“A house divided” moved the plot along and brought all the elements of the arc together. The Machine has some blind spots so Reese, Shaw and Root, plus Root’s hacker friends, needed to be the eyes and ears to help.
We saw the backstory on why Collier (head of Vigilance) has a vendetta against the government and the technology that the government uses. Vigilance currently has the upper hand and our team needs to rescue a lot of people.
