I am not happy at all that they slammed Castiel again! It gets a 3.

Yikes, I think I will be in the minority here, but I really liked it. It might be because of the little touches I saw throughout the episode that I thought were funny, and I did like where TFW became one again. So I think I will just kind of give an all over review about the things that I liked and then the things that worry me for the future. Things I thought were funny- Metatron trying on a trench coat and looking at himself in the mirror, Tyrus calling Metatron a nerd (funny when you know Curtis Armstrong's past roles) Dean's comment about women after what Cas said when they first got to Cas's HQ. Things I thought were scary-Dean, pretty much the whole episode Dean was one scary guy, from the way he acted when they got to Cas's HQ, to his interrogations with Flagstaff and Tessa, to his initial, immediate distrust of Cas about the bomber situation. His interactions with almost everyone through out the entire episode save for about 5 minutes were scary, tense, and like waiting for a powder keg to blow up. The only time he was himself was at the beginning with Sam and then the few minutes with Cas at the end before Gadreel walked in. Jensen does BA like no one's business. Things I thought were sad- Dean's behavior, how is Dean going to be able to come to terms with what he has done, both his past and future actions that are coming in the next episode? As someone who keeps everything in, and blames himself for all the bad around him and who feels worthless, how does he build himself up? how does he get out of this hole again? Cas losing his angelic family, It was bad at first when the Winchesters didn't trust him at the beginning about the bombers, but then when he had to choose between his human and angelic family and the angelic family cut him loose? I felt so bad for Cas, but at the same time I was glad to see TFW re born, I just think we need some new members, three guys aren't much, and the 4th guy tries to join and is not given a warm welcome, that doesn't bode well. Cas has always tried so hard to do his Father's work, to watch humanity and to do God's will and has sacrificed himself time and time again and then when he was trying again to help his angelic family and they turn their back on him. His stolen grace is waning, is that why Josiah didn't see an angel when he looked at him? Poor Josiah, when he said he just wanted to go home, he sounded so lost. I just don't know how this is going to end up for Cas. Things I worry about - Dean and Sam's relationship, Dean is being a bully and doesn't care about anything Sam says, nor Cas for that matter. I am worried Dean may go too far and do something that Sam won't ever forgive. It was bad enough with the angel possession, but if Dean goes further, where might it end up? I just don't have a good feeling about this last episode and more important, what the last scene will be, I suspect that it will be one that we will debate all summer till the show comes back on. I also don't trust Gadreel thought I am starting to think he may be trying for some kind of redemption and you can see that he is starting to hate Metatron. Metatron can go away I am over the character and his pettiness. Anti, I am sorry you are upset about Cas

I can't help it...I really love Castiel and I want so badly for people to appreciate him. I think the episode deserves a 4, but I subtracted a point because they were mean to Cas. I thought it was funny when Metatron told Gadreel to give him a second and Gadreel literally gave him "a second" before entering the room. I never thought about Tessa being an angel and her being willing to commit suicide was difficult for me to accept. Now that I am thinking about it, Dean did not do a good job of convincing anyone that he did not kill Tessa so he and Castiel were in the same boat in that regard. I agree Dean does scary very well. I look forward to him going to the dark side because I know he will be magnificently bad. Am I the only one who did not expect him to cut Gadreel? After I got over the shock, I thought about the way Gadreel tricked Dean, then refused to leave Sam's body, and killed Kevin. Then Gadreel was downright arrogant and snarky with Dean after he did all of that. So, yeah, he had it coming. Is Gadreel going to die? Could Cas suck up Gadreel's grace? Btw, I thought the angel in the red shirt was the traitor, but it was Josiah. Metatron did not even care that Josiah was burned by the holy oil trap. The only good thing Metatron has done was to give Castiel knowledge of pop culture. TFW would be better if Dean had not set himself up as a dictator. Castiel might have to spank him before this is over.

I also thought the angel all in red was the traitor, he didn't have much to do, but boy did he give Dean a look when Dean asked if they were asking or telling and he said telling! I want people to appreciate Cas to, I get that some people don't like him and never will, but I think he plays an important part in SPN and he is needed, when you think about it, it has been good for Sam to have a confidante with Dean acting as he has. I wish Sam had a few more people he could talk to. I hate that the show has killed off so many good characters, the SPN world is so small and they need everyone they can get to help. Based on previews for next episode it doesn't look good for GaDREEL but I don't know if his grace would be any better for Cas or not, though if he could get Cas's grace back it would help me think of him with a greater appreciation. Now for the wild card in the preview for next week we see Dean summon Crowley now if this player is on the field, what can he do to help, or will he only be there to manipulate?

After I got over the shock, I thought about the way Gadreel tricked Dean, then refused to leave Sam's body, and killed Kevin. Then Gadreel was downright arrogant and snarky with Dean after he did all of that. So, yeah, he had it coming. As soon as I saw Dean reach out with his LEFT hand to shake hands with Gadreel, I knew it was all over. You shouldn't trust someone who won't shake with their right hand, especially in this circumstance. (Using your right hand shows you are unarmed--of course, I'm a lefty, so I can be as sneaky as Dean and still come off trustworthy. ) On another note, I just wanted to share that I've been saving up my DVR'd SN episodes and finally watched them (yay!); it was nice to then return here and read everyone's insights into the episodes, though the board does seem to be getting a little less traffic than it used to. I had actually watched the season premiere when it first aired, but I rewatched it and then got through Alex Annie Alexis Ann before needing to get some sleep. I considered saving the last three to watch before the finale on Tuesday, as that seemed a good place in the storytelling to take a break, but I couldn't make it and polished them off after I got back up. I quite enjoyed this season as a result of being able to watch them one after another, the ongoing Sam and Dean drama partially notwithstanding; I wonder if my impression would be different if I'd had to sit with each episode for a week or make it through the hiatuses. I was a little worried last fall wondering where it was going to go, and it did get a rocky start--just like last season--but I'm looking forward to Tuesday and can't wait to see what next season holds. I don't know if I'll do the same next season or not--it was hard to avoid the promos shown during other CW shows and not be spoiled!

I watched this when it aired tonight. During the first viewing, I was focused on what was going to happen to all of the characters. While watching this time, I could relax and enjoy the various plot twists.
I was always rooting for Gadreel to be a hero and I enjoyed his incredulous and dour expression regarding Metatron's trench-coat. I was so disappointed at what happened to Gadreel, but I can watch my Battlestar Gallactica DVDs to make me feel better.
Dean and Sam both looked very worried when Castiel had to decide whether or not to kill Dean. Then, later in the car, when Castiel asked did the boys think the three of them would be enough, Dean replied they always had been. I really liked that part.

I don't ever remember seeing this episode... Guess i'm gonna have to dig around the house and find my tape before the new season starts.
