Are we really at the last episode of the season? We got gipped out of one episode this season....that stupid "spin-off" episode should not have been counted as a Supernatural episode since the boys were hardly in it at all. Oh well, I hope this episode lives up to the hype.

OMFG. OMFG. I'm not even sure how I feel right now except that I'm all worked up and excited over what just happened. All I can say is that I had a feeling once we learned about Cain's situation, and then once Crowley showed up over Dean I KNEW it was gonna happen. WHY CAN'T IT BE THE FALL ALREADY?!

I enjoyed every minute of this finale
...♪♪♪Carry On My Wayward Son♪♪♪
...Sam's tears
...Dean going to the dark side
...Triumphant Castiel
...Gadreel redeemed
...Metatron's fall
Will Dean leave without saying goodbye to his brother? I can't wait for the fall.

Will Dean leave without saying goodbye to his brother? I can't wait for the fall. At first I was thinking he might try to hide it from Sam for a while, but after a second watch and paying close attention to Crowley's words, now I'm wondering like you if he'll take off with Crowley. This summer's gonna kill me.

Apologies to anyone who might be feeling angst this summer, but I for one am TOTALLY STOKED!! LOVED the ending more than I can say. How long have I been waiting for this particular scenario? Since S03E10, that's how long. Wow. Awesome. Happiness radiating from every cell in my body. Wasn't Heaven's Jail cool? That was set I saw but couldn't talk about. It's probably torn down by now, but it was a super-real creation. Looked larger than what I remember, maybe they did some enhancement in post, or perspective was different from use of camera focus & angles. Paint & plaster, but looked quite authentic, even up close with my nose almost touching the walls, feeling the texture. With the major lights off in the massive soundstage, the Jail was all quiet & shadowy...very spooky! Same with the MoL bunker. Eerie with the dark & shadows.

I think the angel storyline is brilliant. And now that Dean is a demon, things are gonna get REALLY interesting.

It will be interesting to see how Sam and Castiel react when they find out Dean is a demon. I guess Crowley and Dean will be BFF now. I enjoyed Crowley's soliloquy.
Crowley: Your brother, bless his soul is summoning me as I speak. Make a deal. Bring you back. It's exactly what I was talking about wasn't it? It's all become so... expected. You have to believe me, when I suggested you take on the Mark of Cain I didn't know this was going to happen. Not really. I mean I might not have told you the entire truth. But I never lied, I never lied Dean. That's important. It's fundamental. But, there is one story about Cain that I might have forgotten to tell you. Apparently he too was willing to accept death rather than becoming the killer the Mark wanted him to be. So he took his own life with the Blade. He died. Except as rumor has it, the Mark never quite let go. You can understand why I never spoke of this. Why set hearts aflutter with mere speculation? It wasn't until you summoned me, no it wasn't truly 'til you left the cheeseburger uneaten... and I began to let myself believe, maybe miracles do come true. Listen to me Dean Winchester, what your feeling right now is not death, it's life. A new kind of life. Open your eyes Dean, see what I see, feel what I feel. Let's go take a howl at that moon.

Remember the episode from season 3 when Dean sees himself in a locked room and his double tells him he's going to become a demon? "Dream a Little Dream of Me" That was Dean's worst nightmare...becoming something he would naturally hunt. Will he become a member of the hunted? My mind is reeling. I wonder how it will all play out. I can hardly wait until they start filming again in July.
Your thoughts?

I will have to watch another time or two before I can make a choice on this one, I have so many thoughts in my head, I need to get them together before I post anything.
Anicat- Thanks for not spoiling about Heaven's jail, I loved the way it looked, Heaven has been shown to be bright and sunny, and then we see tiny little jail cells with absolutely nothing in them, quite the contrast.

I wonder how it will all play out. I can hardly wait until they start filming again in July. Your thoughts? When I saw Dean's eyes, I immediately thought of the scene you are talking about because it made a memorable impression on me. There are two things leading me to believe that Dean will become one of the hunted. Crowley's words, "and I began to let myself believe, maybe miracles do come true", convince me that he will embrace Dean as his #1. Crowley is seductive and has found ways in the past to make the boys work with (for) him and now he will be Dean's King. It will probably be a rocky relationship though. Secondly, Dean missed the way he felt in Purgatory because there was no guilt and no issue of right and wrong. Dean has retained his own corrupted spirit without needing to steal a vessel's body so he has done nothing wrong yet. My question is whether Sam will hunt him or defend him. I am ready to watch it a second time...it was soooo good.

I thought becoming a Demon took Years and Years. oh boy That's what Ruby told Dean, but we all found out what a liar she was so I'm thinking that was just another lie.

I thought becoming a Demon took Years and Years. oh boy That's the usual way. Cain and Dean were transformed into demons by the Mark, so they're not the same as other demons. I'm so excited by this storyline but also apprehensive as to what the writers will do--there's a ton of potential, but they have a habit of setting up interesting ideas only to take them in less fruitful directions or fizzle out altogether. I did write down everything Cain did/could do to see if any of that will be true for Dean. We'll just have to wait and see what happens. (I'll be avoiding any spoilers over the summer.) But I've been so obsessed these past few days, it's all I can think about. AAGH! Get here quickly, Fall!

Something struck me in Crowley's words...and reading them again reminds me of what has me wondering.
I could easily be reading a deeper layer, a key line that is significant, when there is nothing actually there.
But the emphasis Crowley made on the fact that he did not lie: "But I never lied, I never lied Dean. That's important. It's fundamental."
Isn't that interesting? Crowley, King of Hell - occasional ally and always clever...whatever could he mean by that?
This is an important monologue, in the final (and thus extra-weighty) scene in the season finale. All the words are deliberate. No throw-away bits.
Why would a demon King be so concerned that he had always been coming from a place of truth?
100& pure speculation here. Probably colored by another long-hoped for desire of mine. What in legend is a being that doesn't lie? Deceive, yes. Manipulate, coerce, twist things inside out & back again. But not lie. Fey. Faerie. The Fey don't lie.
Just a mysterious little puzzle I latched onto after that speech.
Curious.

ok, I needed some time to think about this episode and had to watch it about 5 times but I think I am ready now to talk about it. It was a very good episode, I know most of you loved it but I was initially not happy with the end, and after watching it more I think it is just because I am so sad about what has happened to Dean and I will get to that in a bit.
First off all the actors in this, were just fantastic, I don't think our guys get anywhere near the credit they deserve for their acting, Jared, Jensen, Mark and Misha, and I think Tahmoh and Curtis did an excellent job as well. I loved Sam in this, Jared just lives in the moment and his overwhelming concern for his brother was a welcome change to what we had been shown all season. I know deep down in his heart Sam loved Dean and still wanted to be brothers, but he had to go thru something awful and work thru those emotions before he was ready to "be Dean's brother". He was ready this episode, and it showed the whole way thru, and the last few scenes with Sam and Dean were simply heartbreaking and Jared's ability to go there and be in that moment and show us how much he loved Dean and was grief-stricken by what had happened was, well I don't have the words for how powerful that moment was for me. I don't think he was going to summon Crowley to make a deal, I think he felt that Crowley had started this and was the one to fix it.
I had been skeptical all season about Zeke/Gadreel and had not liked him, but the last two episodes showed a different side of him, and I felt he had earned his redemption. I liked how he made the initial contact and wanted to help the guys defeat Metatron, and even after Dean attacked him he still wanted to help. I loved how he and Cas made a good team and they both only wanted to save Heaven, and I was sad to see him go, I think he would have made a good friend for Cas, we see so few angels that think the best of Cas. Way back in 9.03 Gadreel saved Cas on his own, Dean didn't ask him to, he just did.
Cas healed Gadreel with barely a thought to his own depleting grace, and even though it took a little bit of a toll on him he never wavered in his desire to help the Winchesters or humanity. Thru Cas's entire time with the Winchester's he has mostly been about saving Sam and Dean and humanity and he has always wanted to do the right thing, even when he made mistakes he meant well. But then as Gadreel said, who hasn't made mistakes? Cas has sacrificed both for his angel family, and human family and I need to see him win one, I need to see him get his grace back, I can't bear the thought of dying Cas, Demon Dean and Grief stricken Sam.
I had read a couple of reviews where the poster had an interesting take on Crowley, they felt that Crowley wanted this to happen to Dean so that he could have someone to be a friend, a confidante, a" brother?" someone who he could share things with or blow off steam. Crowley has always seemed to treat other demons as employees and nothing else. But with Dean he could have someone he respects to talk to or do things with. ( I don't want to know what Crowley does for fun) Crowley has always been able to kill the Winchesters but he doesn't, not even when he had the chance and there have been plenty. But he has never dismissed them as being unworthy, and I think he has a kind of respect for them, he saved Sam and I think he sees something in Dean that he admires and wants for himself. At the end I saw no gloating in Crowley, he seemed sad about Dean and acted like he really cared about Dean.
I think Dean's realization that the Blade was turning him was hard to watch, and even though he mentioned about getting rid of the MOC he knew or felt that it was the only thing that could help kill Metatron. I felt that he and Sam came to an understanding and while they still needed to work thru some things were in a better place they had been in for a long time. I loved seeing them get to that place. I truly think Dean underestimated how strong Metatron was, but even then he never backed down, he kept fighting. It absolutely broke my heart when Metatron stabbed Dean because I was not expecting that to happen. All the scenes with Sam and Dean after that till the time Sam laid Dean in bed were hard to watch, before Dean died and he and Sam were walking and Sam was holding onto Dean's hand to make sure he kept pressure on the wound, and when he laid Dean in the bed after wiping the blood from his face and then the song that was playing, it broke my heart again. At the very end when Dean opened his eyes and we saw black eyes, well I have to say I don't care for that, I never wanted to see Dean go that far, I know Jensen will knock it out of the park and he will play the hell out of it, but am not happy about that. how can someone like Dean, with low self esteem, no self worth and who has always carried around so much pain, death and guilt, how will he reconcile that? How will he handle what he is feeling, he said he didn't want to turn into that, I just don't know how he can come to terms with that.
I do want to know how Crowley got in the bunker though, we saw Cas, Crowley and Gadreel all get in the bunker this year seemingly by themselves, how?
