This final season has been very good. Our favorite characters are still around, including Sameen Shaw and Elias. Yeah, neither one of them is dead although it seemed that they were.
Unless Finch changes the protocols for The Machine as Root keeps suggesting, she will not beat Samaritan. One change has been made, but it is not yet enough. We have seen a lot of action and problem solving. However, there is disagreement that is disillusioning some of the members.

One of the problems with The Machine is it does not tell the team whether the "number" is victim or perpetrator. The team has to always be careful that they are not helping the wrong person and that can be difficult. It's a wonder it has not gotten them killed already. Fusco has been really disgusted because Reese and Finch have not told him how they know the things they know but expect him to help them. He asked for another partner last week and still refused to help Reese in this episode. As the fates would have it, they would up working on the same case anyway and had to keep each other alive. That was exciting with hundreds of bullets fired and a high body count inside the police station. Elias has been a big help and uses his contacts to get answers that they need. I do not think Elias will survive to the end though. The episode started in the desert and I had to check to make sure I was watching POI, but that is where Shaw wound up after escaping captivity. She and Root ran into each other a week later and Root had to convince Shaw to not shoot herself. The team is together again and another episode comes on at 10 tonight.

During the intro voice over, we hear Harold's voice and then Greer's voice and they go back and forth with their alternate views.

5.11 Synecdoche (6-7-16)
Person of interest was really good. Fusco and John attended Root’s funeral but Shaw and Finch were not there. Both are grieving and bitter.
The POI was the President of the United States. Samaritan had to also know about the threat but did not alert the Secret Service; therefore, it was assumed that Samaritan considered the President to be irrelevant. Ouch!
In prior seasons, POI’s were introduced and we thought they would be recurring characters because of the way the episodes ended. They finally brought three of the back in this episode and that made the episode even more interesting for me. We learned that The Machine had recruited them and used them to save people. They were given Reese’s and Shaw’s names as their POI and arrived to rescue them.
Finch decided to do something drastic to destroy Samaritan and The Machine did not appear to approve. The Machine chose to use Root’s voice to communicate with Finch.

I like the way The Machine/Root converses with Finch now. It is conversational rather than just numbers. I believe that is the way The Machine always talked to Root. Finch has been stressed about his decision to create The Machine. The Machine revealed to Finch what his friends’ lives would have been like if he had not made that decision. The big question was whether or not Finch would activate the super virus that would kill both Samaritan and his machine. We came closer and closer to the answer as the episode progressed. Reese and Shaw saw the only one in their subway lair was Bear and started tracking Finch. The Machine gave them clues to where Finch was headed and helped in other ways. It is always exciting to see Reese and Shaw in action and they were entertaining. Finch’s confrontation with Greer was dramatic and I was surprised by Greer’s end game. There is only one episode left for this series and I think they will give us a conclusion that we will enjoy.
