Well, Casifer and Crowley are back after being absent from several episodes. Can the boys save Cas from Lucifer? How is Crowley involved?

Amara ruffled Sam's hair. She will pay for that.

I really enjoyed "Hell's Angel". They moved the arc forward a little bit and we know more about Amara. Uncle Crowley is getting his mojo back. It’s ironic that when Crowley makes a promise, I trust him to keep it even though he is devious and might tweak it a little, like he did to Bobby. He obtained another HOG “the horn of Joshua”. Amara and Rowena together – heart be still. The devious Rowena helped both sides. She made Amara stronger and she helped the guys trap Casifer. When Casifer popped into heaven, the angels were skeptical and apprehensive. Jofiel described the event as “So perfect. Castiel, one of Heaven’s most wanted, possessed by Heaven’s most hated.” When the angels brought up the issue of God casting Lucifer out of heaven and that Lucifer was described as “Evil”, “Evil Incarnate”, the reaction of the other angels kept making me laugh. They looked as if they expected those two angels to disintegrate at any moment. Amara’s “Hear me!” was impressive. It certainly gave Rowena a change of heart. The angels felt her wrath and Casifer used it as a reason the angels needed his help. As he described it, “He who hesitates, disintegrates.” I thought it was interesting to see Dean, instead of Sam, read the incantation to summon Casifer. I am glad there was at least a little fanfare and appropriate music when the arch angel appeared. They have become lax in showing the angels’ power. It seems that Crowley won the argument to get rid of Lucifer, but what was supposed to happen after the exorcism is unclear to me. Theories, please? Crowley made a surprise move to get Cas exorcised and took a beating for his efforts. After they failed to exorcise Cas, the warding failed and Lucifer was free. He was dishing out pain to Sam and Dean when Amara showed up. Casifer used the horn of Joshua and in spite of all that power, Amara did not even blink. She gave Dean a concerned look when he desperately said “Cas!” and then she freed Dean and Sam. She exited in a blaze of light, taking Casifer with her. Amara referred to Lucifer as God’s first son and his favorite. She is using him as bait to see if God will show up to save him from her. Query: I thought Michael was the first son. Is SPN trying to confuse me? Dean posed an excellent premise: "If the thing has to be used by God’s chosen, then maybe the angel who got the boot doesn’t qualify." Is Dean the chosen one? Sam? Castiel? Interesting tidbits:Cas was hanging out in “Dean’s kitchen” while Lucifer controlled the vessel. Dean to Crowley: Nice digs. The Crypt keeper out of town?Casifer: It’s not like he invented the Prius, which actually works.Dean: At times, I want to get slapped during sex by a girl wearing a Zorro mask. Doesn’t make it a good idea.Crowley: I would rather stick white hot skewers in my eyes than listen to you two bitches bicker.Off Topic Sometimes I wonder what ThoseWhoHateCas think about Misha playing Lucifer. But I am not a glutton for pain so I have not ventured out to snoop.

Another pretty exciting episode. Casifer was tremendous. The Castiel character can be so monotonous, but adding Lucifer to his vessel has made an interesting if dangerous mix. Well done, Misha. Good to see Dean was the summoner this time. I get so tired of Dean being the brawn and Sam being the brains. Dean is a smart hunter. Sam made some valid points. I especially liked the "heart plan instead of the smart plan" line. WTF is going on with Rowena? I can't believe they brought her back. And why does the sister of God need a witch to help her heal? ? And how is that partnership going to play out? I think Rowena's message to Crowley already shows that she knows she and Amara aren't going to be besties. So in that bit at the end it looked like Amara was burning out Lucifer from Castiel's vessel. Was that what was happening? And who is God's chosen? I don't think we'll get many answers next week and there aren't that many episodes left in the season. Since the show has already been renewed, I think we may be in for a TWD-like cliffhanger. What do you think?

Gee...a cliffhanger? It would not bother me though. Supernatural has had some exciting cliffhangers, like the one where the demon caused the Winchester's car to crash and we did not know who would survive, or the one where Dean was a hell hound's chew toy and went to hell. So, okay, a cliffhanger where Dean and Sam are fighting over which one of them is really God's chosen one and the world is disintegrating around them while they squabble. I give it a 10. I thought she was just hurting him to see if God would come to his aid. Do you think she wants to return Cas to his vessel to make Dean happy? She did seem concerned when Dean said "Cas!" Sam was willing to throw Cas in the pit, but in spite of any agreement they make, Dean is not willing to let Sam or Cas die. Rowena must be blackmailing the show runner for them to bring her back. And I agree it does seem weird that Amara would need Rowena's help to heal.

I don't know, Anti. You may be right, but the way we saw fire coming out of Cas's eyes and mouth reminded me of when Cas would kill angels and demons.

Hello I want to play too! I really did enjoy this episode, it was entertaining, and had some things I didn't expect in it I would have been more surprised to see Rowena if her name wasn't in the credits, but it was interesting to see her loyalties change from Lucifer, to Amara, and then to Crowley and the Winchesters. I think at this point she is just out for whomever is the biggest and baddest. You both mentioned the great lines from the episode so I won't rehash that, but I was surprised the see Crowley try and help Cas out, I wasn't expecting that. I read a comment on someone's tumlbr that they felt that Cas was depressed and that is why he didn't seem more engaged in what was happening, they mentioned that they had depression and that is how they felt and that the show had done an accurate representation of depression. It does make sense that after weeks/months of being a guest in your own vessel that Cas would feel worthless and not care about what was happening. He already felt useless and lonely and like he wasn't helping any, only making things worse. If Lucifer has been talking to him this whole time, he probably hasn't been giving him any good pep talks. Though now that Amara has Lucifer and is torturing him, maybe Cas will realize that he need to take an active role in what is going on. The last time Cas came "up" he stopped Lucifer from killing Sam, Lucifer must be doing a number on Cas to make him, not even take an interest in Sam and Dean dying. I too thought Amara was torturing Lucifer in order to get God's attention. I think if she kills Lucifer that won't entice God out, only make him hide more. I will not be happy if she kills Cas. I remember in Changing Channels that Gabriel said Michael was the older brother, but the bad writing team wrote this one, so you have to take it with a grain of salt. I think there are several candidates for God's chosen, Michael, Cas, Sam or Dean, maybe a dead character? it didn't say the chosen one was alive and death isn't a big boundary on SPN. To tie in both of your posts about Casifer and Misha's portrayal of Casifer- I think Misha is doing a great job of action as Lucifer, we all know and love Mark P's portrayal and no one can do it like he can, but Misha is doing very well and even went to Mark P's house to get some pointers, so He cares enough about his portrayal to make it as good as possible. There are plenty of non Cas/Misha fans who are not happy with how he is doing, they think he is over the top, and cartoony. He did seem to be that way at first but has toned it down and has done a much better job.

Hi I am glad we watched it early and all of us enjoyed it and I enjoyed reading both of your reviews. The thought of Amara killing Cas is chilling. I hope she stops before she weakens him too much. That is a good point about Cas being depressed. I assumed he was complacent to let Lucifer do what was necessary to get the job done, but that would not explain his lack of reaction to Dean calling him or to Lucifer hurting Sam and Dean. Well, Amara is shooting enough juice at him to rev him up. Thanks for the feedback about Cas haters and the bad writers. They should be ashamed that they cannot keep canon straight.
