I have looked at the critics’ ratings for some movies and shows that I enjoyed and wondered what the numbers represent. Let’s take a look at the ratings for Jason Bourne’s 3rd movie by Rotten Tomatoes. Splat Tomato 57% Fresh Popcorn 62% I did not know if that meant 57% of critics hated the show or liked the show. If they liked the show, why did it get a splat? The RT site gave a clear explanation so now I know how to interpret their ratings and want to share it with you. Numbers indicate "like", never "dislike". Critics | Audience | 60% or more = fresh tomato
| 3.5 rating or higher = full popcorn bucket
| 59% or lower = rotten tomato
| 3.4 rating or less = tipped popcorn bucket
| 75%/80% = certified fresh
| +% = no ratings yet; shows % of users who “want to see it”
|
So, even though I love Jason Bourne's trilogy, less than 60% of critics felt that way about the 3rd one. That does not mean they hated it, just not enough of them gave a positive review.

"Lady in the Water" is a 2006 drama/fantasy. I enjoyed it very much and gave it 4 out of 5 stars.
RT score? splat tomato at 24%. Ouch!
