The explosive power of people's secrets and lies will once again take center stage in season two of ABC's hit drama Secrets and Lies, focusing on a brand-new case and a new suspect.
Eric Warner (Michael Ealy) is at the top of his game. Smart, well-educated and hardworking, he is the heir apparent to his family private equity firm in Charlotte, North Carolina. Newly married to "the one" and walking on air, Eric is attending a party to honor his dad passing over the reins to him, when suddenly tragedy strikes. Eric's smart and beautiful wife, Kate Warner (Jordana Brewster), is found dead, and life as he knows it is over. Overseeing the case is the unflappable and formidable Detective Andrea Cornell (Juliette Lewis). She immediately puts the grieving husband in her crosshairs, but as always, secrets seep out about this seemingly perfect family and turn their world upside down. As Eric battles to prove his innocence and save the family's company, he discovers that his beloved Kate and the rest of his family are not who they appeared to be.

I am enjoying this drama very much.
Det. Cornell is a humorless dogged investigator who is quick to judgment and pursues whoever she thinks is guilty without regard to the damage she does. She believes Eric Warner pushed his wife off of a roof during an office party. He insists he loved his wife and did not harm her.
We quickly learned his wife kept some important secrets from him and the detective is using that information as a motive for him to kill his wife. His wife is not the only one who had secrets they want to keep hidden. Eric has some and so does his best friend. More of their secrets will be revealed as we follow the story.

This is a great drama. One of the things that is unique is the star of the show is unlikable. She was unlikable last season and she remains so. She is the lead detective investigating the murder and she will go to any length to get a conviction.
The husband of the murder victim, Eric, is investigating the people who were in his wife's life. He has begun to realize that he did not know his wife as well as he thought. He learned she had a baby years before he met her and she never mentioned it. Her assistant had not returned to work following the tragedy. An investigation revealed Liam had lied about everything on his application, including his name. Erics' wife knew that and hired him anyway, and that put the investment firm in jeopardy. She also hired an outsider to install tracking software and did not tell anyone.
The wife is not the only one with secrets. It seems everyone has secrets and I am waiting to see what we learn about the others in Eric's life.

Everybody lies. Eric’s father has cancer and denied it to Eric and Amanda. Patrick committed fraud and now the entire family and their company is in danger. Eric has been warning Patrick about his wife for years and now Melanie’s activities might land all of them in jail.
Cornell and her ex are struggling with dealing with their daughter’s addiction issues. Maybe that is why Cornell is so humorless and harsh with everyone.
If I had to guess, I would bet on Patrick’s wife, Melanie, to either be the killer or hired someone to kill Kate.

I recommend this 10 episode drama to anyone who loves a good suspense story and a gorgeous cast. I enjoyed the intrigue and excitement that surrounded the mystery of who pushed Eric's wife off of the roof. She was liked by everyone and no one apparently had a motive for killing her. Every episode revealed more secrets and shocking lies. But it also had its good moments of love, forgiveness and redemption.

Jordana Brewster was on the cover of a local newspaper TV section, but for this show. But she's on "Lethal Weapon" every week. How?

She is seen during flashbacks, which could have been filmed ahead of time. I guess I would have known that if I had read the article. I thought I did. I'll check again tomorrow, since I go to that library where I read those papers.
