Uh-oh. William let it slip that he and Rebecca met. Beth wants to tell Randall.
Meanwhile, William and Beth both got high which was funny. William's having a hard time right now and that's understandable.
And William recites poetry really well.
I never get tempted to eat what Toby ate last night. I don't deprive myself. Not really. I eat just enough sugary treats, but never that many. Also, ranch chips serve no purpose. If ranch isn't good for you and it doesn't taste good either, what's the point? Toby seems to lose weight more easily than Kate. And is Kate wearing the same clothes each time? With so little weight loss, what if the clothes have made the difference?
Rebecca's song was amazing! So was her band. I wish they had let us hear more.
I guess Kevin and Randall have never gotten along. Randall had to admit he never watched that show. Well, now he is.
That was Seth Meyers.

I couldn't find the post that mentioned the pilgrim hat but I was pleased Kevin took the step that he did with Miguel.
William had his Emmy moment! Or did he? I looked and I don't think he was even nominated. But he will be.
I'm surprised they took William along on the hike. And he was about to help with the food but he wasn't feeling good. I did enjoy hearing about his tradition.
Kevin's girlfriend came around. I'm not sure what she was expecting.
I'm very confused. Randall got upset with Rebecca for not telling him about William for all those years--LAST season. How is it that he knows already? I thought he wouldn't say anything but he did. That just ruined everything. Beth had a secret to keep but maybe Rebecca and Randall wouldn't get their chance to talk about it. And then Beth would get over it.
And with the kids, we learned where some of their traditions came from. I enjoyed that. Rebecca was so worried about what it would be like with her parents, but that didn't turn out to be a problem. They had many other problems. And it turned out to be a great experience. I was surprised Rebecca took off certain clothes with the children around.
Some people did have cell phones back then. But then it would have never worked out that way. You would think it would be easier to get a tow truck. Also, how is it that the gas station had that sign right there showing how far away it was?
Kevin became more likable after he admitted why he was always so mean to Randall and later let Miguel wear the Pilgrim hat.
I am laughing at your spoiler because I feel the same way.
They never showed what happened to either Jack or Miguel's first wife.
The cliffhanger shocked me.
Edit: Oh, here it is.

I'm starting to not like this show.
I still don't understand why Randall found out what Rebecca did this past season instead of the first season. When he accidentally got high on mushrooms, I thought that would be the solution and it bothers me to see him and Rebecca not getting along.
I did like the scenes with Rebecca and younger William. It's understandable Rebecca got scared. It's also a shame. Jack doesn't know why there's such a problem with searching for Randall's father.
Meanwhile, Randall gets to spend time with other Black kids and Black adults.
Kevin and his friends were interesting until I found out what his girlfriend was really like. I knew what she was like but thought I misjudged her.
I thought Kate decided to get back together with Toby. I know they will eventually solve their problems. Knowing the future is going to help.

William is gay? I'm amazed one of his grandkids was the one who figured it out.
The episode started out as a feel-good episode and then things started happening. However they did it, I was glad to see the doctor.
Then things just started getting worse.
Then it was a feel-good episode again. I was glad to see Toby. Did they have to do what they did with him? At least I know he survives.

1.11 The Right Thing to Do 1-10-17
Kate wrestles with her feelings following Toby's heart attack; Randall has to get used to his father's relationship with Jesse; Jack and Rebecca must find a home that can accommodate their growing family when they find out they're having triplets.
Well, at least it's a summary. We went on a roller coaster with Toby but I already know he will be all right. Eventually. Whatever happened last week may have been intended to scare us. I enjoyed watching Jack and Rebecca find out they were having triplets and trying to figure out what to do. Once I saw Jack at work, I knew that was the house. It's a shame Jack and his father still don't get along, as of that scene, but Rebecca was having her own struggle with her mother. I wonder why people act like there is a choice when someone gets pregnant. Okay, I guess adoption is an option, but there's another unspeakable alternative that is suggested. Kevin has a dilemma but it looks like the best thing is to stay with his new girl. She seems capable of handling her role. It was a disappointment when the man in charge was so happy Kevin's other girlfriend came back. But it looks like things will work out. Things are getting worse for William but meanwhile, Randall has to deal with this other new reality.

Rebecca was in a super bad mood. Carrying the extra weight of triplets can do that, I am sure. Jack really was the best husband in the world. The doctor's grief was sad, but he did finally have dinner with the lady he talked to in the supermarket. The fireman was really nice and I am glad he and his wife decided to give their marriage a chance to work. This was one of the best episodes yet. Jack is the perfect husband. Rebecca went through quite a range of emotions. She even though Jack would leave her for someone hot. She was hot, above the neck. And on her way back to being hot everywhere else. The liquor store man was so nice. I knew how everything was going to turn out so the doctor's situation didn't bother me as much as it could have. I also liked seeing the entire story of the fireman.

I am so glad the show won an award and this was another excellent episode. The birthday parties were a lot of work for Jack and Rebecca and they tried very hard to make all of their children happy. The party highlighted the differences in the children's personalities. Kevin was the popular one. Kate had friends but they preferred Kevin over her. Kevin was selfish and did nothing to make his sister feel included. Randall accepted life as it was without complaint. I can see that in their adult interactions also. I felt a little sorry for Randall because he was stressed about making a successful presentation, but I think making his father happy made him happy also. Kevin had difficulty staying in a relationship because he still loved his one true love, Sophie. Kevin is not the brightest bulb in the chandelier. His overtures of love included punctuation. Shaking my head. I think they are getting close to telling us what happened to Jack. I really enjoyed the episode. I didn't like Kate's storyline or Kevin's, but it was interesting to see how Kevin and Sophie became a couple. I wasn't expecting Kevin to choose neither when Toby insisted he choose one of the girls. I did like seeing Toby with Kevin and I kind of felt sorry for the Asian woman at the restaurant. William's big day with Randall was one of the best things about the episode, but I felt bad for Randall because this other man is going to get what Randall wants and Randall has nothing to offer that will prevent that if he doesn't do everything possible. William is enjoying life now instead of being sick, even if he knows it will soon be over, and that was great. I loved how Rebecca was so frustrated about the kids, first coming in their room and essentially dictating the terms of their parties, and then later. Jack is the perfect father once again. Kate really needed him. Once again, Kate isn't treated right by her friends but at least they showed up. Randall didn't even have that. And once again his being Black might be a factor. All those girls dressed like Madonna! And I couldn't believe the boys were able to dress like that movie too. I was pleased when a Madonna song was chosen that it was one of my favorites instead of one of the bad ones. It was played so softly I almost couldn't hear it. Finally, Jack's funeral. It makes a big difference when I already know.

Sophie is being played by the woman who played Jessie on the walking dead. At first I didn't recognize her. Now I can't support Kevin and Sophie the actress was very rude to rick and michonne fans. And said some pretty immature stuff on twitter rants about my fav twd couple Everytime I looked at Sophie, I thought of Jessie and it does make it hard to root for them. I will say it again. Jack is the best husband in the world. They were having a perfect moment and then Rebecca sprung the news about the tour. By the end of the current episode, I wondered if each of their lives was going to be disrupted. Did Randall inherit a bad gene from William? Did Kate enter cabin #13 to be with that rude guy? Will Kevin's relationship with Sophie cause friction and mess up the play? Fortunately, I don't know Sophie except for when she appeared in some later episodes. I'm mostly enjoying Kevin and Sophie. I do wonder how he paid for his and her meal when they both rushed out and then got stuck on the subway. It was nice to see Marla Gibbs and, once again, being The Manny has its advantages. I'm hoping Rebecca won't go on tour because Jack can't handle those kids with the job he has. I realized this for the first time. Jack had a beard early, then just a mustache, then a beard again. And this beard reminds me of my first math professor in college, who also taught my first computer science class. I had to take computer science for an accounting degree and then I got the idea to get a degree in computer science too. I never had any success in either one. I'm worried about Randall. Beth was right to insist he be at that tournament but Randall's boss doesn't seem to be telling him the whole truth. It looks more like he's being pushed aside for the other man. It was nice to see William teaching Tess to play chess and to see him at the tournament, though I was concerned at how William looked toward the end. Maybe that was just to provide a scary clip. Kate's storyline doesn't interest me at all but I was glad Toby showed up. He did provide some funny moments. I didn't get a good look at where that picture of Randall and Rebecca together was but it must have been Randall's office.

I liked seeing Kevin change from a young man who saw Randall was distraught and walked away to an adult who realized comforting his brother was more important than opening night. I was a little amused thinking about the audience’s reaction to the star being a no-show. Randall was trying to do too much and it took a toll on his health. I think he will be okay because the previews showed Randall and William taking a road trip. When Toby and Kate agreed to share secrets, I thought that was a bad idea. Now I am wondering why Jack’s death was too traumatic for Kate to talk about. I think Jack reacted the way any man would if he knew his wife was going on tour with an ex that she never told him about. I thought it was bitter sweet that Jack ate the Valentine’s Day burger alone. That was a nice scene between Miguel and Kevin. I knew it was too soon to reveal why Jack died. It makes sense now that I know more. I still like Toby but don't really care for adult Kate. On the other hand, I saw Chrissy during the Macy's Parade coverage over the weekend and was reminded I like HER. And now we know why that jerk works at that place, but really, I had had quite enough and I liked shopping for a shirt. I'm relieved to read Randall will be all right. All that would be too much for anyone. I worry about what all this will do to his career. Still, it was entertaining at least that William did what he did. It was hard to watch William have to go through all that, but we know this man is going to win awards. I was surprised Kevin didn't help young Randall but it was kind of irresponsible for him to leave his play. It was great that he came to Randall's rescue in the present day. It was fun watching Jack and Rebecca argue over whether he could handle the kids, but I was glad he finally confessed he didn't want her to go. I did like hearing Rebecca sing. It's just going to be too much. I know they'll stay together so it's not so bad to see them get in a real fight for a change. jack has always been too perfect. And I do agree it was nice seeing Kevin and Miguel together. How is it everything is so close by?

Two things I forgot. I couldn't believe what Katie Couric did. She never acts like that. It was just a dream.
The OB/GYN finally showed up on his new series which has already been cancelled. His "widow" wasn't happy and when he demanded the house she burned it down. He didn't care about his empire which is a cross between "700 Club", "PTL" and TBN. His near-death experience was enough to tell him he had lived his life wrong and he was going to make up for it. But he was going to hide until the right time.

Drinking coffee and watching This Is Us at 6 AM is a good start to the day. William and Randall's road trip is full of feeling. My goodness, when William tossed the maps out of the car window, I shook my head because I am more like Randall. I want maps, written directions and GPS. The visit to Jack's resting place was sweet. I am watching the club scene where William's cousin is singing the song William wrote. This is so nice. Back to the show. 6 P.M. for me. I couldn't believe Randall got actual maps when a car like that has GPS. But I like real maps too. I wouldn't be able to figure out GPS and trying to do something like that when driving? That was such a nice road trip and they both needed it. I don't quite understand how they were able to go to where Jack's ashes were spread. If they had already seen a billboard for the Peabody they must have been close to Memphis. I am really glad Randall changed his mind because he said "next trip" at first. How could he have thought there would be a next trip? This was one of the best episodes yet. Well, until things started happening. I really liked seeing William play with his band and how he wrote a song they could use. And William's mother. We needed to see more of her. I was afraid whoever that was wouldn't come back. When I saw Amtrak, I thought it shouldn't have been that late. But it wasn't long before William had to go back to where his mother was. And when he met Randall's mother on the bus, I knew what that meant. So It was closer to 1980 than I thought. I really wish he had gone back to be with the band but we don't know how many years that took. There were so many good moments in the episode. I liked seeing William's parents and what happened to them. When William and Randall met the cousins, I laughed when Randall was at the mike and was singing. He was so happy. The expression on the couple's faces when William pulled a brick from their wall was funny. But it was a profound moment for William. The hospital scene was emotional and I liked Randall using the breathing technique Jack taught him. It helped William to cope. On the trip back, Randall finally saw the ducks in the road. There is a road a mile from me where the ducks cross. The parent duck crosses and a slew of ducklings walk behind her in single file. There is a lot of traffic on that road and we always stop to let them cross. In all of these years, I have never seen an injured duck on that road. 'Here's your brick." I am so glad William got to do that, but not everyone is willing to let people do that. I worried about a car like that one in that neighborhood. Memphis is such a great looking city. I saw the Peabody sign and it's such a shame William didn't get to see the ducks. I've seen them elsewhere. Randall didn't seem like himself with the cousins but he needed that. When the one cousin was so mad at William I got worried but it was so nice he finally gave in and that William got one last chance to play with him. I just knew when William said goodbye to Tess that he might really be saying goodbye. I thought we had more time because the actor gets nominated for awards for the role in the second season. That had to be the scene I saw at the Emmys that told me I have to find a way to watch this show.

“One Night Only: The Best of Broadway“ episode I saw recently showed Ron Cephas Jones “William” on Broadway. I did not know he was a stage actor. I'm in the middle of watching that but I saw a Paley Center special about actors who appeared on "Law & Order" and its spinoffs. He played three roles on those shows. Beth and Toby also had three roles each. Jack was in one of the scenes with Toby, or at least I think he was. They said without "Law & Order" there would be no "This Is Us". "Modern Family" was another show with several actors who appeared on the shows. Some were not stars yet.

Watched the finale and I loved it although they still did not tell us how Jack died. When Kate said it was her fault, I thought Jack was going to die because he was drinking and driving on his way to Cleveland. I am glad that was not the case. After the big argument, Jack remained a truly loving husband, and we need a season 2 to see what happened after that. They did a good job of stringing us along about the blind date and how Jack and Rebecca met. Her decision to sing that night saved him from committing a life-changing crime. I am happy that Randall and Kevin are on a path to make their lives happier. I am not sure how Kate’s life is shaping up. They managed to make the memorial service enjoyable. The kids weren't grieving as much as the adults. Randall is really trying to make up with Rebecca. The mailman was even friends with William. I didn't realize Beth had gotten so close to him. Everyone liked William! Kate's problems didn't interest me but I did like seeing teenage Kate with her father. Jack is really trying to accept the situation. I wasn't expecting him to drive all the way to where Rebecca was performing. I was so glad he didn't cheat with the pretty girl. I was pleased at how well things went with Kevin. He tried to get that critic to come but he wouldn't. I don't know why "family emergency" wasn't enough but the critic probably would have thought that was just an excuse to keep from embarrassing himself. But apparently Ron Howard seeing it was enough. Kevin sure gets a lot of mileage out of being The Manny. We didn't get the full benefit, but Justin would have to be such a spectacular actor to pull it off. I sure am glad I know how Jack died. I would have thought Kate's comment meant it was about to happen as they showed Jack driving. They're going to make us wait.

Forgot one thing. Randall quit his job. Wonder what he'll do now? But it's not like they mistreated him. And with his father gone, he'll have more time once he gets over his grief to the extent he can come back.

Randall and Beth were presenters last night on the Golden Globes. The show didn't get nominated.
Sterling K said, "It's nice to be Black." I don't know whether that was a blooper or yet another reference to the lack of diversity in the journalists selecting the winners.

Justin and Chrissy were presenters last night on The CW. In a comedy category. Chrissy looked depressed so Justin tried to make her laugh by saying he played The Manny. She responded by saying their house burned down. Justin said this is why people don't laugh when they watch the show.
Also, Justin was nominated for supporting actor. In his clip he told Randall the worst thing to happen to him wasn't losing their father. it was Randall being brought home.
Sterling K was nominated for lead actor. In his clip he was talking to Kate about what it was like to be Black and not have the full experience of being Black.
And the show was nominated. In the clip, Kevin told Randall he would have gotten their father out, while Randall said he wasn't there and he ended up being a disappointment in their father's last memory of him.
