I am going to delete my account. I am happy for Jared that he is having a baby, but apparently he is going to take a break later on this season to be there for him (I understand completly) but this show is no longer the show I loved, and with this news, it only hightens my worries that Sam will be forgotten. As much as I enjoy Jensen's acting, and love him, I can't continue watching a show that doesn't reflect what it has been about since season one, and that is the brotherly bond. This season has been a huge disconnect between the Sam and Dean, but I still stuck through it, now with this news about Jared, I can't continue on watching it. It's too depressing and has become a show that is complete foreign to me.

i don't think jared will be gone long...he's just taking "a little time off (not a lot!)"..that is what @cadlymack said on her twitter...probably just a week or two..i'm sorry to see you go tho.. ..

It takes 8-10 days to film an episode so he might be absent just one episode. Almost every year we have one episode without Sam so there's nothing new there. Maybe in that episode Dean will team up with someone mentioned in one of the interviews that will be returning or maybe Frank. I won't watch it since I only watch the show to see the Sam and Dean bond which is been pretty much nonexistent since season 4. I keep hoping...

HUH, NOT WATCHING BECAUSE SAM ISNT GOING TO BE IN 1-2 EPIS? YOU ALL DO KNOW THAT THIS IS JARED'S DECISION AND NOT SOMETHING THE SHOW IS MAKING HIM DO,RIGHT? If they do this right, Sam could still be in the episode(s) almost as much as Dean is and Jared could still have the time off.

Since they know he's going to be taking time off, why not have Jared pre-tape scenes for that particular episode.

What I mean is, say they are going to shoot Ep. 20 and 21 around the time that Jared was going to take off. Why not have Jared film his non-brother scenes earlier. As for the brotherly scenes, I'm sure Jensen wouldn't mind doing a little extra to accomodate Jared.

You've already gone so wont see this, but I'm going to comment anyway. If this is how you feel then fine, but it seems a HUGE overreaction to me. You have an interview hinting at loads of great stuff for Sam, then he mentions he might have a few days off when his wife has a baby and you deleted your account and are giving up on the show? Way to support a character and actor you love. If we all did that then no actor or actress would ever be able to have a family as everyone would stop watching their shows if they had the nerve to ask for a few days off and their shows would be cancelled. If you want to stop, then stop, but Jareds paternity leave is, IMO, a poor and unfair thing to trigger it.

Sorry you feel disenchanted, but I felt I needed to comment on your reasoning here.

I'm stumped. I just don't get people who are so connected to one character that, if the show deviates from their preconceived notions of how the ebb and flow of multiple writers write the various episodes doesn't fit into their narrow view of how the show must move forward, will just quit and run.

I'm not happy with every episode. I'm sure the actors aren't. We've heard both of them say with seasons and episodes were their favorites and which weren't.

But if characters aren't allowed to change and grow, sometimes for the better or for the worse, then the show would simply become a caricature of itself. Hey! Episode 412 where the brothers hug and then kill a demon; episode 480 where the brothers kill a monster and then hug. Come on.

We've only seen 12 episodes. There are 11 left. Can we at least wait until the end of the season before cutting and running?

I guess I must be in the minority when I say that my enjoyment of the show depends on each particular episode and not how much of one brother or the other is in it or how many chick flick moments we get throughout the season. I don't judge the overall season until I've seen every episode. I take it one at a time.

I think we must be in the minority of fans of the show, who aren't really fans of the show, they're fans of a particular character on the show. I don't get that. Supernatural wouldn't be as good as it is if either character or actor weren't a part of it.

I don't get people who favor one character over the other.

Idk... I'm pretty disappointed with things right now, and the boys have hardly been together at all or the story has hardly revolved around the brothers and their relationship. This amongst other things is why I'm taking a break from the show, but I don't think it's really fair to say that those of us who are upset or disappointed have narrow views... in fact, suggesting we have "narrow views" feels somewhat offensive... IMO.

Part of me is excited about what Jared said and there is a part of me that is worried as well.
I hope and pray that there will be some more Sam and finally some focus on his issues which are huge and more interesting to me than Dean's old issues of whether he likes to hunt or not. Or him questioning why he's hunting and he's been doing that for the last 3 years now. Hopefully he'll figure it out already and maybe Sammy going over the edge will help him somehow.

As for Jared not being in an episode or taking time off. Who cares? He's having a baby. I actually think it's Gen having the baby and not Jared. I could see him taking time off when Gen's having the baby and for a couple of days, but why would he need to take weeks off, if there are only a couple more episodes to film this season. He'll have months to be with Gen and the baby. Maybe more than that if the show isn't renewed.
I don't know how long it takes to film an episode, but I bet they're done filming sometime in March. They'd have to be. I've done the math and I swear I never know what episode they're on from spoilers or interviews. But someone says it takes 8-10 days to film an episode. They've been filming for almost seven months now and sure they've had breaks inbetween that, but it's been about five and a half. They should be on 16 or 17 right now. By the beginning of March they should have 3 or 4 more episodes filmed.

I personally don't care if Jared misses an episode or if he's in one less because he needs time off. I just want good episodes with new and exciting things happening in them and not rehashed plots or something like Let It Bleed again. I only want maybe 1 or 2 episodes that totally focus on Sam's character. I don't think that's too much to ask for in a 23 episode season. Hopefully there will be at least one episode this season that is all about Sam and Sam only.

You are contradicting yourself. You are saying how we should be able to express our different views on Supernatural now. Before your were basically saying that those who are currently disappointed with the show or those that favor one character over another that their opinions don't matter, are worthless and are not true fans of Supernatural. I suppose offensive could be the wrong word, but pretty much what Emmy said is how I feel the way it came across. Maybe I'm just being oversensitive, but I certainly don't feel my opinion or PoV is any better than yours or anybody else's for that matter. Nobody has to agree with me. I don't honestly feel that because I feel a certain way about the show makes me narrow minded or my PoV narrow either. I guess maybe it just felt a little unfair to refer to those who are currently unhappy or unsatisfied with the way things are going for the show as having a "narrow" PoV or narrow minded or however you meant it lol.

Please understand that I'm not trying to argue, but just express that to me (and it would seem I'm not alone) is how it came across, if that makes any damn sense at all. deanandsam's leaving was a bit abrupt and surprising. For me, I think I'm just honestly burnt out and tired of drama and tired of the show presenting something that I'm just not interested in... because I don't feel this show is what I signed up for nearly 7 seasons ago... I guess if it makes me "narrow" then so be it. *shrugs* lol

I can understand your disappointment this year as I felt that way last year. I'm sure no one means to put their feelings on others. Some just feel differently.
