Coming to Fox next month.
The same town where the "Sleepy Hollow" pilot was filmed is the location for this series, though it actually takes place in a fictional town. And I expect to see some familiar scenes this time. I don't see the same buildings every time I go to the town but I could. I just don't go that way often either driving or walking. In fact, I only walk there once a year, but I could change that.

decoy.tvpassport.com/news/heavy-drama-fox-strikes-chord-new-series-shots-fired?subid=national-00001 and www.salisburypost.com/2017/03/21/day-life-shots-fired-extra/There was also an article in another local paper that I don't have a link to, but it's probably not that important. My main interest in this show is seeing local landmarks. I didn't see much of anything. However, where the white kid was shot, I saw a rolling trash can with the logo of the town where the scene was obviously filmed. How they explain that I don't know, but it would probably be meaningless in the TV series. It wasn't a neighborhood I knew. I do wonder how "The Houses" is described as being in the town, but the sheriff is providing law enforcement. In one scene I did recognize a couple of buildings in the Charlotte skyline. That was at night when the Panthers player was eating out with the investigator. What was really neat was that I already knew the local Fox station had a microphone in front of Helen Hunt as the N.C. governor. Then the station had a van at the murder scene. Finally, whenever someone would watch the local news, it was that station.

Premiere of “Shots Fired” was good. The DOJ representatives appear to be in danger. Mr. Terry was attacked by some men when he tried to visit a woman who had information. At first, I thought it might be people from the neighborhood, but it was probably police officers. I did not hear a reason for Mr. Terry being made the lead attorney on the case instead of continuing as interim.
Officer Wilds did the same foolish thing young people constantly do. He was videotaped bragging and saying something he should not have said. It will backfire on him.
Pastor James seems ambitious, but I guess she could still be spiritual minded. We shall see. There was an awkward pause when she brought forth the mother of the white boy who was shot by the cop.

I finally got what I was looking for. The female pastor spoke on the steps of the courthouse I have walked past many times. Not as much lately as years ago since I don't eat at this one restaurant nearly as often. When the cameras pointed the other way you could see the local bank headquarters. I think the bank won some award for renovating the building, which was a corporate headquarters for a company that shut down.
The Allstate Man is the attorney's father! And he made some comment about Cam, the Super Bowl quarterback.
And the actor playing the attorney is so good.
I have no desire to hear about the investigator's personal life.

One more thing. The governor said she was the state's first female governor. We have had a female governor. And she was treated pretty much like you'd expect from macho conservative legislators.

This show could become one of my favorites. It has kept me guessing about the motives of the characters and it is not easy to know who can be trusted. The attorney, Preston Terry, seems to be the most trustworthy. Ashe is serious about her job, but her temper and lack of morals might lead to complications.
Where is Cory? I saw him run and slide under a house to get away from the people who were chasing him. Now he is gone.
I am having trouble distinguishing whether it is the Sheriff or the Lieutenant who should not be trusted. I am also beginning to wonder if Officer Mack Wild's temper gets out of control. He did not wait for the white cop to touch him before he hauled off and hit him.
I was cheering for Pastor Janae, then we learned she had the black boy beat for selling drugs, people in the neighborhood are scared of her, and I saw the sneaky smirk on her face when she heard the Governor wanted to speak with her.
I studied the courthouse exterior and noticed the "V" used in place of the modern "U". Our main courthouses in the downtown area also have engraving like that.

That is a very good article about the show and also about the producers. I have an interest in knowing the motivation for making shows. p.s. I was very amused by the comment "before half hour comedies could be about nothing."

I have been thinking Beck looked familiar. I think I mentioned on the Vent Thread how much trouble I've been having watching episodes of "Nashville" now that it's on CMT, which is one of those channels I don't get. I'm paying $30 for little more than what I could get with an antenna. So yesterday it hit me now that Maddie is dating a black man. Dixon on "90210" was one of the first series regulars on a show I watched, not counting Tom and Helen Willis, who was in an interracial relationship. That's Dixon!
Nothing more this week that I recognized, though I really don't care about the investigator's personal life. I thought so was very hard on her daughter, being so nice at first and then making her cry.
I'm glad they're investigating the other shooting. Yes, both victims deserve justice.
I didn't recognize the college where they interviewed the fraternity brothers.
"Concord--a wealthy suburb." Hardly. Where Beck shot the guy, a rolling trash container said "Concord", meaning they filmed that scene in the real Concord. There are areas which have been annexed recently where people probably have money. Concord Mills (a huge outlet mall) and the area around the Charlotte Motor Speedway has lots of development. There are streets with nice houses in the older part of town. There are also mill houses. And then there's Logan, where most of the trouble is.

I do not care about Ashe's personal life either. I think she snapped at the child because she is jealous that the girl had a good time with stepmom instead of calling her. Ashe does need to control her temper.
Deputy Beck also needs to control his temper. The cut on his hand seemed to have significance, and I wonder if it will be the basis for him being accused of something he did not do. Beck's white deputy friend is standing by him even though it is not a popular position to take.
The stuff they said about the fraternity hazing was disgusting.
I know they need to investigate, but it seems they could be more subtle when they talk to witnesses. The witnesses seem to be in danger.

Hour Four: Truth 4-12-17
Shots Fired still holds my interest. I was surprised that Breeland was accused of harassing a 72-year-old black man. That makes no sense to me.
I am not sure where the potential witnesses were taken to keep them safe.
Giving the new students Bulldog school shirts was a nice gesture. I thought students would be mean to them because of the way their parents feel.
I am so glad Preston did not enter Ashe’s room after they went dancing.

I also thought that was nice of the students to give them the shirts.
I'm glad the people in charge want to take on the second case.
I didn't recognize the college where the drug dealer was in the library, or the location where the rednecks in the pickup were pulled over. However, I did recognize two buildings shown when the bus was taking the kids to their new school. Hotel Concord is a historic building in the process of being renovated. The project also includes the Concord Telephone Company building. I did not, however, recognize the new school or any other locations shown from the bus.

I went to the library at the college I graduated from on Friday. I was walking toward the actual newspapers and realized something for the first time. That section of the library--not where the newspapers are, which is the oldest section and wasn't even part of the library when I was a student--wasn't built yet when I was a student and I realized it looked very familiar. I went up one floor and there were more books up there. That could very well have been where they filmed the scene where the drug dealer stashed pot in a book and tripped when he was chased. Yes, I saw what he tripped over. I forget what those are called. No one who worked there that day could give me an answer, but I think I'm right.

I never came close to imagining what the Sheriff and others were doing in that town. Those “auxiliary deputies” were using “The Houses” as a hunting ground. Now, it makes sense why police stopped a boy and an older white man shot him. That did not make sense at first. I think it was the deputy who transferred to another town who felt so guilty, he drove his vehicle into the water.

I was sleepy but managed to post the one comment. I am awake now and thinking about the horror of the revelation about the Sheriff. I doubt that the truth will be revealed to the town because that would definitely lead to riots. They need another way to clean up the Sheriff's department. I have a feeling that Officer Beck either knew specifically or at least suspected the men were murdering people. It was so easy for them to commit murder and blame it on drugs-related crimes.
Both Ashe and Preston have created problems for themselves, but they are dedicated to pursuing the investigation. The officers pulled Ashe over so she could be threatened and she played into their hands by not cooperating. Preston should not be having a sexual relationship with the Governor's aide. That is just plain stupid. I liked Ashe's question about did he settle on Hillary instead of waiting for his Michelle.

I couldn't believe that the auxiliary deputies were hunting people. That's just not right. I didn't understand the "safari" reference. I don't know whether the word always refers to hunting but I think of it is visiting areas where animals are, even if the only way people are "shooting" is with cameras.
Beck shouldn't have done what he did but it makes good TV, especially if you have good stuntmen. And you know they were because I didn't see their faces.
The cop was too hard on Ashe, but people are so casual about drinking. I didn't even think about her having drunk before she drove.
Ashe and Preston have no business getting in the relationships that they have. Yes, I guess that makes good TV too.
No familiar locations this week. The area with the mural where the black people were protesting looked sort of familiar but there are no railroad tracks in any location I've seen that looks like that.
However, the radio in the limo was on 1110. That is where one would expect to hear talk like that in Charlotte.
And the Charlotte skyline was in the background when the women were being interviewed on TV.
I want to know how far Raleigh is from Charlotte. In the real world, people wouldn't be going back and forth between the two cities the way people have on this show. It's like going from Smallville to Metropolis. By the time the series moved from The WB to The CW, it had gone from being a trip lasting several hours to one lasting a few minutes. The governor can't send her daughter to school in the same neighborhood as The Houses like people suggested. She doesn't live anywhere near there! What should have been said is that the daughter, who agreed she would do just that, should go to school in a neighborhood like that. There are parts of the real Raleigh that would be like that.

My impression was that the officer pulled Ashe over intentionally so the Sheriff could talk to her. He did not give her a reason for pulling her over.
I thought suggesting the Governor should send her daughter to a school in The Houses was a cheap shot. The Governor was proposing sending children to better schools. The Houses' schools had poor track records and the neighborhoods are dangerous.

I have a correction. While I'm not planning to go there tomorrow, I should go there sometime. The building where one of the auxiliary deputies worked looked like a building where I went to ask for directions when I went to a library that I had not gone to in years. However, that doesn't mean it's the same building. I could ask next time I go there. Maybe someone there would know.

Ashe's difficulties are a waste of time. I might enjoy her efforts to keep her daughter in another series, but this just gets in the way here.
What happened on this show really did happen in Charlotte just after filmed was completed. I wondered how they would realistically show riots. I still don't know where they were when the riots took place. One thing I do know is that some buildings in one of the towns where filming was done will be torn down for a baseball stadium. But I don't think the decision had been made in time to use those buildings for the riots.
It's a shame the kid got taken away and even worse that they treated his mother the way they did. But he did damage a cop car.
I didn't recognize most of the buildings outside the window in that scene with the man financing the prison. I did see one of the Panthers colors in what looked like a stadium. I know their stadium has seats that color. There have been a lot of new buildings built in Charlotte. That has to be where they were.
The lawyer finally ended that inappropriate relationship. She didn't care for his looking at her computer.
And once again, the governor seems to be a lot closer to Charlotte than Raleigh really is. She doesn't seem to regret the decisions she made.
I didn't want to see Beck suspended but I guess that's what they had to do.

Pastor Janae included my city along with Ferguson when she talked about riots. I did not realize we were notorious. When the white boy threw the bottle at Pastor Janae, I was surprised he did not get beat up very badly by the crowd. I think it was very awkward for the boy's mother to approach Beck in the station and chastise him while the other officers watched.

You added details I meant to comment on and forgot about. The boy's mother should have never gone in there to confront Beck. I was expecting something worse. And by the way, I believe the officer was not the only one to attempt suicide. But he went through with it. I didn't know what the boy was throwing the bottle at. I actually thought he was supporting the cause until I saw the Confederate flag. Pastor Janae is getting the people too angry. Charlotte was, of course, compared with Ferguson a month after these events were filmed. And it's a much bigger city, as big as St. Louis used to be.

I couldn't believe they arrested the pastor.
I hope what happened in that new Beck video isn't as bad as what could have happened.
They really burned that restaurant, and other buildings around it seem to have burned. I don't know where it is, but you'd think I'd have read something. The problem is that it would be local coverage and I'd have to see the newspaper for whatever town that was.
Ashe's family problems are, once again, a waste of time.
That was nice of the sheriff to let that kid go.

A movie I saw over the weekend reminded me of the episode a couple of weeks ago. A Latino teen had two choices: join a gang or go into the military and become a legal resident, and give his family a chance to become legal residents as well. Either way, he was at risk.
But he didn't want his younger brother to join the gang. After pressure from his father, the older boy went into the military (and we were in Iraq at the time, so it was just as bad as being in the 'hood). The younger boy ended up joining the gang, but one night he and his father were just out walking and got stopped by cops. The boy ran and when the one cop started chasing him, the father resisted the cop who was with him. It was an accident, but the cop died, and every cop in the city was looking for the father. Now the mother fell over in this show, rather than the cop, but didn't get hurt. The boy got away, but his life was never going to be the same.

I'm relieved the pastor has only been accused but is not the murderer.
A reference was made to Jesse going to N.C. State. The real one is in Raleigh, where the governor is supposed to be. And once again, she is far from home.
I was relieved the cop found Joey's brother. He was just doing his job when he gave that man a ticket, but I realized later he didn't like that he had to do his job.
I missed part of the beginning for reasons explained on the Designated Survivor thread.
A big waste of time with Ashe's family problems. Though it was great that her child's father helped. And even worse, now she's jumping into bed with the lawyer who came with her?
