Foolish for Ashe to jump into bed with the lawyer. And it was not wise for the lawyer to make promises so publicly to solve the murders.

The episode really held my attention after I fast forwarded through the scene where Ashe and Preston were still in bed. I thought that would have stopped at the end of the previous episode.
Sheriff Pratt bleeds blue, but he really wanted Lt. Breeland to take the fall for the Sheriff's Dept. exploits. Breeland felt his actions protected Pratt and the department; therefore, he felt betrayed.
Ashe hates Breeland for interfering with her child custody hearing and did everything she could to prevent Breeland from escaping punishment. When we saw Breeland destroy the police report about Ashe, it made me wonder if he ever really reported her. Now I do not think so, and the judge's ruling was probably made without his input.
Arlen's press conference was the smart way to go and he presented a plausible spin to what happened. His remarks caused the release of Pastor Janae.
I wonder who shot the officer. My knee-jerk reaction was that it was Ashe, but that would be too obvious.
They still need to decide what to do about Beck. That will be difficult to deal with since there seems to be major fallout from the shooting of the officer.

I wondered what Breeland was doing. I thought maybe he was reporting her and then he decided not to. Pratt got my respect in this episode. I didn't like Ashe and Preston ending up in bed. I saw what I missed last week online and I have to do the same with this week's episode. I stopped recording so I wouldn't lose anything and then I couldn't watch live. Then I realized that even though I deleted what I recorded, it was still in the trash and I fished it out. Breeland was talking to his daughter in the stadium at the time of the gap. I was hoping Breeland would get the deal, but I guess not. I have something interesting to report about the scene that came after the replacements for Ashe and Preston offered Breeland the deal. I had to get creative when the name of the store appeared for a fraction of a second. My TiVo can be advanced a frame at a time, something I discovered because fast-forwarding doesn't work if I freeze video. I have to go back to normal speed to do that. And that's how I saw the store's name. It was a name that I have seen many times which made me think I could just drive there. No, I can't. When I found it with an online search, and a map showing its location, I discovered it is on Highway 3, which starts in Mooresville, an affluent suburb of Charlotte, and ends in the town where Beck shot Jesse, based on the trash can that was near where it happened, and where the bus went from The Houses on the way to the nice school. Mooresville is on the way to the mountains, and I go that way next month, but it's too much trouble to go there a different way. Highway 3 was named for NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt, who was No. 3. North Carolina had a Highway 3, but it was very short and had no meaning in the community where it was. So the number of the road that was there was swapped with Highway 3. Here is a photo of the store: www.google.com/maps/uv?hl=en&pb=!1s0x885400749485dd33:0xfd486fef67e4fe2b!2m19!2m2!1i80!2i80!3m1!2i20!16m13!1b1!2m2!1m1!1e1!2m2!1m1!1e3!2m2!1m1!1e5!2m2!1m1!1e4!3m1!7e115!4s/maps/place/coddle%2Bcreek%2Bstore/@35.5584831,-80.7858624,3a,75y,238.09h,90t/data%3D*213m4*211e1*213m2*211sAu7-XmMzId9qVgowM4mOLQ*212e0*214m2*213m1*211s0x885400749485dd33:0xfd486fef67e4fe2b!5scoddle+creek+store+-+Google+Search&imagekey=!1e2!2sAu7-XmMzId9qVgowM4mOLQ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiRofGpkfrTAhUmM8AKHRpJB-oQpx8IcDAK Knowing where the store was, I looked in the Mooresville paper online to see what it said about this series. It was most definitely where the riots were. They had a story about that mural and said one of the shooting locations was a diner, and that there would be pyrotechnics used. I don't know how to make that link work but it can be copied and pasted.

I remember the mural was very prominent.

Not exactly the same situation, but on "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" Terry was harassed by a cop because he didn't look like he belonged in that neighborhood. If he had had his badge, that wouldn't have happened. But the cop said he wouldn't have done it because Terry was a cop. Terry said that didn't matter. The point is he's a black man getting harassed because he doesn't belong in that neighborhood. Two of the other cops were baby-sitting his 6-year-old twin daughters and they wanted to know why the cop did that and if they should worry about themselves. The cops talked about what happened to the father but didn't bring up the idea that the same thing could happen to the girls.
Terry and Holt, both black, are the highest-ranking cops at the Nine-Nine. None of the other day-shift detectives are black but some are Latino. Some uniforms might be black.

Although Officer Beck was indicted for murder and Arlen Cox was not indicted, there were some positive results.
Sheriff Pratt admitted to lesser chargers like falsifying training records, but he had not yet admitted to the murder charge.
Preston served Cox with a list of civil rights violations at his prisons. When we saw Cox shoot Joey, it did not look premeditated.
Sarah Ellis, the Governor’s former aide, will help organize the residents of The Houses to register to vote and become proactive in making positive changes.
Deputy Brooks is a good guy and spoke to Pastor Janae’s group about improving their relationship with the sheriff’s department.
This was a good series, but it was not picked up for a second season.

Getting back to "Brooklyn Nine-Nine", when they finally showed in full what Beck did to Jess, this is almost exactly what happened to Terry, but with the race roles reversed. And Terry was walking. (Edit: and of course Terry didn't get shot.)
Seeing what actually happened, Beck deserves some sort of punishment. I couldn't tell what happened, but he shouldn't have been that careless with his gun even if it was a Barney Fife moment. And Barney always had one bullet. There were several in this case. I can't read because after "Dirty Dancing" I was only able to watch until they took Beck away. To stay up any later would have made me feel lousy, or more lousy than I did, this morning.

I was also glad to see Brooks doing what he did. Pratt lost my respect again because he may not be quite as guilty, but he is guilty of certain actions. Cox looked shocked that the gun went off, but I don't see how shooting Joey that way could have been accidental. Nothing about what Beck did looked justified, but I thought maybe the trash truck startled him. This was a good series, but it was not picked up for a second season. This was never going to be anything but a limited series.

Ashe was on "Family Guy". Cleveland Brown got his own show and his family was in that. But when the show got cancelled he returned to his old show. The family members show up from time to time but they don't always talk. Ashe is his wife.
This week I walked past the court house. I only do that once a year when I walk to the veterans' cemetery. I could do it more often but it takes so much longer to walk that way when walking where I normally walk.

On the way to the mountains, I'm going to take a detour and not get on the bypass. It should be easy to find the street where the riots were.

I'm not sure I saw where the riots were. I need to drive back through and try again. I might have been on the wrong street. I felt weird asking anyone though I'm sure they take pride in knowing their town was on network TV, even if it was for that.

I drove through the town again but I'm still not certain I saw where the riots took place. I didn't see any one obvious landmark, and I'm not sure which mural was the right one. There were several billboards on the sides of brick buildings.

I went back to the college I graduated from. When I asked if anyone knew if scenes were filmed there, the woman said she was in the show and it was Davidson College.
