I like 95% of this episode, and am very happy we didn't have the blood bath of last year.
Let's get the silly out of the way first- The flying fight scene was just bad, it was so obvious and they looked silly, it didn't work in S9 and it didn't work here.
While I enjoyed seeing DeanMichael, I could have done with a less overly dramatic music score, it took me out of the story a bit.
But overall I enjoyed it
I loved that The four Winchesters ( Sam, Dean, Cas and Jack) all fought the werewolves at the beginning, it was nice to see a hunt go so smooth, and the talk between Sam and Dean afterward was nice, I for one would like to see that, hey I would like to see an episode where they hang out in the bunker all day, do laundry clean and cook, watch movies, just normal stuff.
And the talk between Jack and Dean was important for Jack to hear that he was family and he mattered, especially with what happened afterward. I feel bad for Jack when he was so hard on himself, he takes after his dads by taking on things that aren't his fault.
The scene in the gas station was both funny and scary, Jack losing it, and then Dean ever so casually shooting him, and Jack saying you shot me, well someone had to get his attention.
Michael appearing and then the guys out by the car, even thought there is not a shot in hell that Cas could beat Michael, he started to go towards him and I loved that Sam put his arm on Cas and said NO. Dean using holy fire was smart.
I loved and felt for Jack finding out about Lucifer and what he had done, he was so upset, and I kind of wish that Jack could have killed him, but I thought it was impressive what he did to Michael without working too hard for it. unfortunately it led to Lucifer doing what he did to Jack.
When Sam Jack and Lucifer were in the church, I LOVED that even though Sam was never going to beat Lucifer, that he fought as hard as he could to save Jack, when he got up and started toward Lucifer I was hoping just for a minute he could at least get a shot in. Jared is so tall and can be physically imposing he kind of looked like a tank coming at Lucifer. that little exchange between Sam and Jack, Sam trying to get Jack to kill him and Jack trying to kill himself, that to me shows me he is a Winchester, the Winchesters do what they can to save family.
Dean and luficer's fight and the (hopefully final) death of Lucifer was great to see, I for one never want Lucifer to come back, Mark P. did a great job with the character but I am over Lucifer.
That one moment where Dean Sam, and Jack thought things were great and then to have the hopes dashed 30 seconds later,
I guess we will see what happens into next year.
Cas didn't do much other than support his family, but that one small moment of him sitting on the steps, with such sorrow in his face was heartbreaking and when Sam and Jack were in the church after DeanMichael left was sad too.
I would like to see Cas cry just once, he has been close to tears before but we have never seen him cry, and I have always felt that an angel crying over his human family would show how important the human family is versus the angel family.
Now for questions
Will Jack be powered up once again? I hope so, I think these guys need him to have some power, cause otherwise he is a sitting duck.
How long will DeanMichael last next season? I hope more than 3 episodes. I thought the actor who played Michael did a good job and I wish we would have gotten to see the character do a little more than be 2 dimensional for much of the season.
Is Lucifer really dead?
I am sure I will have more questions later. I will say that my enjoyment of the show picked up towards the last half of the season, and I am looking forward to next season.
btw- my daughter watched the last 2 episodes together and called me to talk about SPN, she liked it and thought it was like S5 SPN, I thought that was kind of interesting, she is not the fan I am, but she likes the show.
What did you think of it?
