The season three premiere of Riverdale, which is titled “Labor Day“, will debut on Wednesday, October 10th, at 8/7c on The CW.
Betty and Jughead will continue playing detectives as they investigate macabre crimes in Riverdale.

I noticed an episode summary that says some of the actors were going to play one of their parents. Now that I will watch. I think it's the one from this week.

I won't give away too much, then. I forgot about "Jeopardy" so I started watching an hour before bedtime and then realized I hadn't watched "Jeopardy". So I quit watching after 30 minutes. Turns out that would have been the best idea.
Six Riverdale students who didn't know each other were sent to Saturday detention. Sounds like "The Breakfast Club". They called it "The Midnight Club" because with no supervision they got addicted to this game that caused problems, both back then and in the present. Strangely, all performed in Fred's rock band, but maybe that was just while they knew each other. Because of those problems, they quit the game and quit associating with each other. And yet each member of the group has a child of the same gender who is a friend to other children of members of the group. Each of the actors playing cast members played that person's parent of the same gender. Betty was Alice, who was a bad girl. Jughead was FP, and for the first time, he wore a crown that made him look like the comic book character, because of the game. Archie was Fred, and the makeup and hair people did an amazing job. Veronica was Hermione, who was quiet and conservative, but interested in the bad boy Hiram Lodge. Cheryl was Penelope, who was adopted but apparently was going to marry her brother. Josie was Sierra.
The music was better than what one would expect from a CW show, except for the noise made by Fred's band, but whoever chose it was 10 years off. I think this was supposed to be taking place in the 90s.

I just watched that episode. I enjoyed it more than the first three of this season. Jughead is my favorite and when he was playing the game as his father, they said he was a stud muffin. I am enjoying the mystery of the game. I bet the ring leader will be as shocking as when Betty's father turned out to be a serial killer.
I was tempted to stop watching this season because of the fight club at the detention center. It disturbs me when they force children to fight for the pleasure of the adults.

During dinner with the warden, Archie asked was Hiram Lodge always the one pulling the strings, and the warden responded in a weird way. It seems the warden might be a follower of the Gargoyle King or maybe the leader of the Farm.
I am making comments as I think of them; otherwise, I will not remember.

I enjoyed this exciting episode. They cleverly showed Jughead's group playing the game and the moves coincided with what was happening in the real world. It seemed as if he could tell exactly what was happening. At the end, it did seem like Jughead was willing to play the game all the way to the end even if it endangered his life.

"Manhunter" is exciting, but very dark. A lot of people were murdered.
Betty kept creating drama by continually confronting people. Betty finally got shut down. I think it was a long time coming because she was never subtle. Veronica, on the other hand, was smart and she accomplished her goals.
I was excited to hear the theme song "Paladin". It gave me a flashback to the TV series that I had not thought about in decades.

I really enjoyed seeing Archie and Jughead on the road. Archie was not using good judgment. Usually Jughead is the daring one, but he had to keep cautioning Archie to play it safe. The Gargoyle seems to be an epidemic.
Betty is still clever in spite of the evil Sisters trying to sizzle her mind with drugged candy. I guess not much time has passed because her friends do not seem to know Betty is missing.
Veronica is still angry with Hiram, but Hiram will not let anything bad happen to his little girl. But he has a vendetta against Archie even though Archie left Riverdale.

Awesome mid-season finale that resolved some issues and also left us with some burning questions. Inmates at the Sisters of Mercy created the game as a coping mechanism. The Sisters encouraged them because it seemed to be helping them. Hiram made generous donations to the Sisters and they tested his drugs on the inmate. The drugs caused the inmates to hallucinate and believe the Gargoyle King was real. I liked seeing Betty as the Gryphon Queen. That was clever.
I know the teenagers have done some outrageous things over the years, but I did not think Cheryl meant to physically torture her mother. Ouch! Cheryl enjoyed it, and I do not judge her because her mother also tortured her and participated in murder.
Where does all of this leave Archie? I was so touched when Archie’s dad let him take the dog with him when he headed to the border.
Governor Dooley and the Mayor finalized Hiram’s plan by issuing a quarantine that covered the entire city of Riverdale. Jug and FP were not allowed to enter and no one is allowed to exit.
Burning questions:
Is Penny sleeping with the fishes?
Where will the girls who escaped from the Sisters live?
Can Veronica outsmart her father?
Will Archie return and be the conquering hero?
How many chapters are in Jughead’s book?
Will JB/Jelly Bean ever get with Archie? Riverdale returns January 16, 2019. |

This show seems too spicy for teenagers and I do not know if teenagers watch it. Veronica's club seems like a place for adults. Josie sounded excellent like a real headliner rather than a high school student. Veronica also sang well, but not as well as Josie.
There are so many issues with the Serpents, but it seems Jughead has come up with a solution to some of those problems. I like JP and I am glad he has Jughead's back.
Betty's head and heart are in the right place when it comes to the displaced children, but there are too many people working against her.
Veronica and Reggie kissed. Gee, Archie has been gone for only a month.
Archie was attacked by a bear and hallucinated about recent events in which he had to fight his personal demons. He looked dead at the end of the episode.
