I heard it would be sort of like "Once Upon a Time". Now it's looking more like "Grimm". I'm not as certain I want to watch as I was.

Hope introduced a lot of characters, but it was not obvious to me which fairy tales were referenced, except one. There was a very mature student who had a wolf tattooed on her thigh. Her grandmother offered her a bright red rain cape which was obviously a reference to Red Riding Hood. Other than that, I was unable to make connections. No monsters showed up nor do I expect to see any.

I rescued episode 3 by transferring it to the other TiVo.
Now I just have to find a way to watch the first two. I technically have time with "This Is Us" no longer on my schedule.

Not this week. Even if I can access the episodes, I missed a TV episode that I will have to watch online when I get time. There might be a rerun, but better to do it while it's free. Uh-oh. I didn't have time earlier this week but I HOPE it's still free.

I did watch the episode so now I have to find out if I can see the episodes of this show I missed. Which included four and five (I rescued three) at the start of the evening yesterday but when I checked again six was gone.

No monsters showed up nor do I expect to see any. This was a big disappointment, with one exception. Full episodes are still free on the CW site, which is good, but now that I have seen it, it's not living up to any promises I can remember. The girl with the wolf tattoo and the grandmother, who almost wore a red raincoat, was quite interesting. I can always enjoy a teen who was taken away from her friends and is rebelling. I'll be back for her, if no one else. Three little pigs, check. And a very violent jewelry store robbery which killed one man I didn't know and may have killed someone we got to know. Th pigs can hide in the crowd of protesters. I'm actually curious what will happen with the gay man whose friend accidentally killed that man in the apartment. I have lost three more episodes. I wasn't paying close enough attention Saturday and lost two. I did remember to delete a movie I had recorded that I had seen. I have made a point of recording all movies in case they do something that wasn't listed that I haven't seen. And I lost another episode and don't know why.

I haven't lost any more episodes this week but I did notice "Star Trek: Discovery" didn't have the right number of episodes. And that's bad because it's not free. But one of these days I may have another reason to get a free trial to Paramount+ and that will be the time to watch it. I saved everything else that isn't this series but hopefully with fewer TV series to watch in the summer I won't lose any more episodes of anything.

Chapter 2: Loss
SEASON 1, EPISODE 2 • NEW 8/4/2020, 9:00 PM ON CW • TV-14 • STEREO • CC
Jordan helps the police pinpoint one of the masked robbers from the jewelry heist; Kayla tries to keep her distance from Nick but finds it hard to stay away; Hannah helps Gabe cover his tracks. The last mention? Oh, well, I can comment, I guess. First, The CW site doesn't work like the NBC site. I ended up watching the first episode of the second season, not the second episode of the first season. I was frustrated that the events of the previous episode weren't even mentioned. After a few minutes I checked and found out what had happened. I had the episode I had started watching on my TiVo. So I finished watching the episode later. This storyline will be interesting. "Country" singer Ashley Rose was badly burned and doesn't know if she will be able to perform again. Plus she doesn't look as good as she did, but she's still quite good looking if she wears the Phantom of the Opera mask. And no, I don't know what story that represents. But she's depressed in some scenes and angry enough to break things in others. A woman who was jogging was attacked by a stalker. Not true. She was a friend of this person. But I think she does have a stalker. Once I found the correct episode to watch online, it was clearly a continuation of the first one. The girl from Oakland (I saw a movie about a girl in Oakland over the weekend) is trying to make friends but she's breaking all sorts of rules. And her new best friend is just about as bad. We know she's representing Red Riding Hood. And I even heard "what ... you have". And one of the Little Pigs was found my the cops when his pants and shoes were recognized and footage that was studied revealed them. He has an alibi because someone lied but the victim's husband has turned into a stalker. Also, he identified the man's voice in a lineup. The Little Pig is a bartender where the man who was there when someone else died works. And that man is being told to lie. The man was alive when he left! More on the World's Funniest Animals thread.

I'm watching both seasons at once. I'm on episode four of the first season. The man whose wife was killed has turned into a stalker and confronted the girlfriend who is the alibi for the one suspect. He took a pig mask to the police and was told that is inadmissible evidence. He even bribed a DJ at the dance club to play "Crazy" by Patsy Cline. Now anyone who knows what music was like in a dance club in 2018 can guess how people would react to that. As for me, I liked it. The sister was beat up and is escaping with her brother to North Carolina, only he was driving and they ended up in Virginia where people in a really nice house are glad to see them. As for Kayla, her grandmother is covering for her. The teacher is continuing to fool around with her but Ethan is blackmailing them. He claimed to want to be friends but when he walked Kayla home he attacked her and Granny had to throw him out. More red in scenes involving Kayla.
I'm on episode two of season two. I saw the name Natalie Alyn Lind in the credits, but there's no way that could be the little girl who played Dolly Parton. She's so much older. And still rebellious. She escaped and went to a neighbor's barn to spend time with horses. And the bodyguard followed her. She finally agreed to go on the radio but she was not willing to have anyone see her. When asked a question about the man who rescued her, she got really upset and her mother isn't being as hard on her because she can now see how much the girl is hurting. So far the only story I see here is "Phantom of the Opera". Her brother has another story.
The brother was getting married but it's looking unlikely that she will go through with it. However, he kidnapped a cat and when the owner advertised for it, he cut his hand and claimed the cat did it, then gave her an injection and is holding her prisoner. She hasn't waked up.
A girl has returned to her home after a decade away because her rich father died. She can't stand her stepmother and her two stepbrothers who always say the same thing at the same time. At least she has a godmother. This looks like "Cinderella".
Overall, these are quite interesting stories that make me want to see more.

I'm still doing two episodes at a time, one from season one and one from season two.
From season one, the girl who was burned serving her country and her brother are getting their revenge on the mother who left them. The girl told her whole story at a party to people who didn't know her. At least they get to stay in a nice house. As for what story this is, I don't know.
And the "wolf" is still stalking the pigs, and fantasizing his wife is trying to stop him.
It's bad enough to be a teacher fooling around with your student, which he's still doing. But to go after the man who is blackmailing you because of it has to be even worse. Oh, sure, it was an accident. And there sure was a lot of red. Kayla, meanwhile, embarrasses her father at work. The father has been the best thing for the hotel where he is apparently a chef or something. And he seems to like his boss.
In season two, Ashley (who is the older sister of Dolly, as it turns out, though they did mention Dolly) continues to struggle but she's having a nice day mostly with her bodyguard. And she met and thanked the man who saved her. The stalker is always around.
The boyfriend of someone connected with Ashley is holding a girl prisoner. At least the cat is there. The girl is reacting predictably but she calmed down. But when she misbehaves what the man does to her is terrifying.
Ashley's brother is dating the Cinderella character, who got essentially nothing from her father and she's not happy. Her stepbrothers' lame attempt to help was rejected.

I continue to watch two episodes a week.
Kayla said, "What big eyes you have" as her teacher boyfriend got his picture drawn.
The man going after the pigs may have gotten the girlfriend of one killed.
The rich brother and sister couldn't hide any longer as the cops showed up and told their mother what would happen if she lied. Or were they cops?
In the season two episode, Ashley's stalker got himself killed after quite an adventure for Ashely and her best friend, and Ashley is falling for her bodyguard.
We now know why the one guy is keeping the girl locked in his basement. His twin sister died when they were kids and she's a substitute.
The Cinderella character likes pumpkin pie. She nearly got into her father's safe without consequences, but after getting caught, she's in trouble.

I went back to watching this week. I'm almost sorry it's almost over. I can't really say I'm enjoying both seasons but in a way I am.
There is a connection between Kayla and the pigs. Her father knows the man who is stalking the jewelry store robbers. And that man is being haunted by the man who committed suicide. The actual killer has now killed the second little pig as well as his wife who the stalker was holding hostage. The killer didn't care and tried to shoot the stalker but got the wife. The stalker got away.
And before all that the stalker kidnapped the wife and demanded the husband identify the killer.
Meanwhile, in the one story not related to the other two, the brother and sister got out of the wrecked car thinking the others were dead. Nope. One tried to grab one of them and then when he got out, started shooting at them. The sister shot back but ran out of bullets. They thought they had gotten to safety but the kind helpful woman was in league with the bad guys. Then there was a fight in the restroom.
Kayla is in her teacher's apartment after she and her best friend decided to investigate the man. Kayla's father also mentioned meeting the teacher, who admitted he wanted to meet Kayla's father. The teacher is back home and Kayla has to hide. For some reason, the teacher is using the name of his disabled brother.
And in season two, Ashley believed the person who tried to kill her was not the stalker. The cops won't investigate but Ashley convinced her bodyguard to do it and with help from the stalker's extensive footage of all thing Ashley they found someone near Ashley's car. The bodyguard found a way to identify him and found where he lives. When he and his father went to talk to him, they got shot at and the father got shot.
Simone wore glass slippers to a ball. It was her mother's best friend who made sure she had appropriate clothes to wear. At the end of the episode she has lost one of her slippers.
And the man holding the girl prisoner called her Anna. She demanded to know who Anna was. The man was followed and when his secret was discovered, the other man quickly regretted following him.

One more to go online from the first season, and then I still have episodes of other shows to watch online. See the All American thread.
In season one, the focus was on Kayla. At the end of the episode her stalker teacher was about to return home. It was revealed she had found her mother's painting. It was not a coincidence he ended up at Kayla's school. He was having an affair with Kayla's mother. Kayla at the time was being a typical teenager, somewhat rebellious but not nearly how she became. Kayla's mother dumped him and he did not take it well. He got abusive and then started following her in his car. he caused her to wreck and then killed her. Everyone though the wreck caused her death. Kayla escaped the apartment but now she's having to continue to tell the teacher to leave her alone. And in case we forgot who she represents, she has on these bright red pants. She also visited her father at work. She went to bed but got up and her father was there. I couldn't believe he didn't have a problem with what she was wearing. That t-shirt was so short we almost found out for sure if she had anything on under it.
There is a connection between Kayla and another of the plots. While I don't know what it represents, the brother and sister got separated and the woman who seemed helpful held the brother prisoner. Asked where the money was he said, "I don't know." Which is not an acceptable answer. She let him go and then had him tied up, called the sister, and used an iron on him. She agreed to get the money. He escaped and found himself in that same kitchen where Kayla was, asking for help. Once again, the person who seemed like she would help, Kayla's father's boss in this case, demands to know why he's running loose.
And let's not forget our other stalker. Guess who the detective is who is investigating the murders he is sort of responsible for. The detective handling the jewelry store case is no longer investigating those. Who is the last person you would expect to be the detective working on the murders?
In the second season, Ashley immediately goes to the hospital to be with Beau, even though she is told that's not a good idea. The man who bombed her car was on the loose, When he got caught he said he didn't know who hired him. Now he's dead. Ashley is singing now and her sister knows but has been told don't tell anyone.
By the way, the girl with the same last name was nominated for an Emmy. And she does look like Dolly Parton.
Simone was being held prisoner. By her stepbrother! And it turns out the stepbrothers don't get along as well as we have been led to believe. They are having arguments. One of them is trying to help Simone.
And the other girl being held prisoner has escaped, but when she couldn't find anyone to take her back to civilization she had flashbacks of her abusive boyfriend and showed up where she has been held prisoner and beat the guy up. Being held prisoner now is a detective who followed them. Ashley's sister was upset to learn her boyfriend had a sister who died, but if she only knew.

I thought I had one more to go from the first season but it was obvious there was more happening. There was no way everything was going to wrap up.
The action is all in the hotel where Kayla's father works. that's where Hannah's brother is being held prisoner. Hannah has the money but there was a gunfight involving a man who was supposed to be dead whose head was stitched up like Frankenstein's monster.
Also, the stalker, who called himself Mr. Wolf, is staying at the hotel. The other homicide detective believes him because she has discovered a connection to the other pigs. I couldn't believe he was kidnapping the man's son.
Kayla was asked by her best friend to come to where Ethan was drunk. Ethan's body has finally been found. I felt so bad for Kayla. And guess who the homicide detective is! And her grandma has been attacked. I can only hope she's still alive but if she's stored inside luggage and the teacher is checking into her father's hotel, it doesn't look good.
Next week is the finale.
In the second season, it was revealed it was Simone's godmother who got her clothes to wear to the ball. And she is dead. One stepbrother is helping with the investigation and the other is not.
Ashley has revealed she can sing but is reluctant to perform. People online already compare her to Freddy Krueger. She is still beautiful if she keeps the mask on and stays covered up where the skin grafts are. And Beau assures her this is true. The tabloids have caught them together and wonder who she is.
Ashley's brother has a problem but I'm not sure whether it's a drinking problem like his father had. That's how the father died and the son was there. He blames himself because he should have taken the keys. And of course he too is connected with Simone because they were dating.
The tables have turned on the stalker. The girl he held prisoner now holds him prisoner and it turns out she's worse than he is. He forced him to break up with his girlfriend, who has volunteered to serve as Simone's lawyer and get her out of the jam she was in. If he didn't, she was going to be one of the victims. But he made her cry.

The first season didn't end the way I had hoped. Everyone good had a happy ending and everyone bad ... didn't. Way too much violence. Way too much death. Kayla finally looked in a bed hoping to see her grandmother ...
The hotel manager turned out to be Ugly Betty's nemesis. I knew she looked familiar and I finally looked up what the stories were. She's the witch in "Hansel and Gretel".
Kayla stayed around for the second season as the girl being held prisoner who has now turned the tables. She's stalking the ex of the man who she's holding prisoner. Pretending she needs a lawyer. And that lawyer has been contacted by the wife of her colleague who is missing.
I was amazed to learn that instead of "Phantom of the Opera" the Ashley storyline is actually "Beauty and the Beast" She's the Beast! She wants to tour now, and others are discouraging her. And we now know the identity of the person who is trying to kill her. Well, at least we have seen her face. I've only seen one person who looks like that, and I'm not sure I have it right.
Simone visited the lawyer who knows the truth about what her father left her. However ...
And Simone seems to be getting along better with her family, whether they like her or not.

One more episode left in the second season. Ashley thinks she's safe because someone was arrested, after Beau miraculously survives getting hit by a car. But the real perpetrator framed someone else.
One stepbrother is on Simone's side and the other is not. But the one who is helping Simone is worse than the other one. Meanwhile, they're all suspects in a murder.
I can't stand seeing Kayla as the disturbed one. And this time her victim is one of the two disturbed people from season one. Meanwhile, being a detective on this show seems to be a leading cause of death.

I finished the second season. The last one was not particularly pleasant. Simone seemed to work things out with her stepmother but the stepbrother who survived had to be dealt with.
Jordan got out of that alive and was reunited with his siblings. It was a struggle for his sister to get out of her situation, but she and her boyfriend both broke their thumbs to get out of handcuffs, and just in time, as the place was set on fire. Olivia was drowned ... right?
By pretending to have a broken arm with metal parts in it, Ashley's nemesis got into her concert. And some device went off and the power went out. Beau saw the suspicious person just in time and told security to get Ashley out of there. The villain very nearly accomplished the goal. Who was it? Ashley's father's illegitimate child who was ignored while the half-sister had everything.
