The guy who fertilizes the yard came by to aerate the yard Add one to what I should have said on the Vent Thread. Someone has fertilized and the whole neighborhood smells like someone didn't flush.

I think it's very cute that you've made friends with the squirrels. I haven't but one was squashed in the road.

Race Day was ok. Emily was doing a GREAT job driving. She was in 3rd place until the car broke after the 4th lap...took an hour and got it running again and Kevin drove for 1 lap before it completely shut down and wouldn't start again. She had a great time during those laps she did get to drive at least. So bummed that they didn't get to finish the race. I was hoping to go Ghost Town hunting while we were out there, but there weren't any out there to go see. We drove home Sunday morning and then I had a nice relaxing day at home with the family.

I wore two shoes that didn't match last week. I found this out when I took them off. My name is a color, and it seems that the shoe which is that color is the same color inside and out, something unique to that shoe. I found the mate to the other shoe I wore but don't know what happened to to the mate of the shoe which is the same color inside and out.

I recently, as in last couple of days, received friends requests on facebook, from people in my past, long in my past. Now...anyone who has ever seen my facebook, knows I don't actually post.
Anyway, I did not accept either of these requests. There's a reason some people are from the past.
I really, really need to color my hair. When I'm in these zoom meetings, the top of my head practically glows. Aliens could land spaceships. My hair is very white, no grey, white. Of course, I color it brown, but those roots insist on showing up quickly.
I have an exam on Monday. IATF 16949. I am certified, but it expires in June, so I have to get this taken. It's going to be online. The camera has to stay on you the entire time. I just hope I pass. These are tricky, with the "shall", "should", "must"...

Can Marc help you get your hair colored? x)
I'm assuming this is some sort of certification for work? How long is the test?
My kids are all in the midst of their end of year testing and aren't enjoying it. I feel like from now til the end of the year is pointless. They are taking tests regularly and not learning anything new and then once they are done with the testing there is only 2 weeks of school left. The last week of school is already pointless with parties and watching movies the whole week. They aren't going to learn anything new during that one week in between.
I think Emily has decided to stick with school because she just can't give up senior pictures, prom and graduation. Which me and Kevin just don't understand...that stuff wasn't important to us at all and I don't know why she wants to be so involved with it when all school does is make her miserable. I guess it's another thing to mark down to our generation just not understanding her generation.

Marc will do it for me. It's just getting it done.
It is for work. 2-3 hours. A lot of studying.
I suppose I don't remember thinking of high school photos, prom, etc. They just happened. I do remember the photos were a lot of effort. There were the gown and cap photos and then "natural" photos outdoors.
You said Emily is very social, and wants to be. She wants to have that yearbook and events to look back on. I hope things get easier for her.
End of year? Then I realized it is May. Wow. All of your kids will be out of high school soon.

I wasn't even in my senior yearbook because I had no desire to do senior pictures and if you didn't do them you weren't in the yearbook. I didn't care one bit. She's been trying to make friends and I think she's found people that will be friends with her but she's mentioned that they smoke and that "I" wouldn't like that so she just doesn't bother talking to them. Of course I'd rather that she makes friends with our similar values but I'm not really worried that she'd start smoking if she hung out with people who smoke. She's just in a weird place where she doesn't really fit in with the crowd that has the same values as we do but she also doesn't fit in with the kids who smoke and probably drink as well. She has no desire to smoke or drink but she also isn't as "goody two shoes" as the kids she'd like to be friends with. Does that make any sense? May 28th is the last day of school! Next year I'll have a 8, 10 and 12th grader. It really won't be long before they're all grown up and gone. I was looking at Tyler(15) the other day and realized he's no longer a little kid. He's definitely a young man and will probably be as tall as Kevin soon!

I wasn't even in my senior yearbook because I had no desire to do senior pictures and if you didn't do them you weren't in the yearbook. I didn't care one bit. I was but we were all required to wear the same thing. Tuxedos for the guys and gowns for the girls. The bow tie and jacket were provided for us so all we needed was a dress shirt. And for the girls it was just a top but they had to remove whatever they were wearing to put it on. My freshman year in college I had a yearbook photo taken wearing one of my nicest golf shirts. However, I left that college after one semester and went someplace closer. We didn't know in time where we would be living and we had made a $100 nonrefundable deposit, though it would have been cheaper to forfeit that since I went home a lot more often than I had planned to, and for other reasons. So I was in the yearbook, I guess, but no longer a student. Where I went the next year they objected to my wearing my nicest golf shirt. The truth is I was only 15 miles from home and could have gotten my parents to bring me a dress shirt. I didn't bother.

There were the gown and cap photos and then "natural" photos outdoors. We had traditional backgrounds. And I don't have a photo in a cap and gown except for college.

Anyway, I did not accept either of these requests. There's a reason some people are from the past. I rarely post. Some of the people who were so immature in high school are much better behaved. Two people I didn't know well--in fact, one I don't think I knew at all, but she married the other one--are quite immature now, as it turns out. If you aren't a Trump supporter, according to them you are evil. One person I went to church with as a teenager, who supports Biden (everyone I went to church with as a teenager who I am Facebook friends with does), said this guy wasn't acting like a Christian. Of course, the Trump supporters think they are the only ones who are right and say Christians MUST support Trump and the election was stolen. The minute Trump lost, he knew I wasn't on his side and had admitted the only reason he read what I said was to laugh at my posts. He's either given up Facebook or blocked me. His wife, seeing me respond in a way that questioned what we MUST believe, merely unfriended me and I can still read her posts.

I think it's very sad now days that people can't be friends with others who don't share their political beliefs. It seems to have just gotten worse and worse over the years. Tanmi...I'm not sure how good you are with "gory" things, but be careful of my facebook post from over the weekend. Kevin shot a nail through his finger while working on our friend's cabin. It's not bloody, but there is a picture of the nail straight through his finger. Looks almost fake though.

I DID she the photo!!! Maze, our old buddy, old pal, sent it to me on Messenger!! The photo!! UGH!!! I then went to facebook, where you had posted it!!! UGH!!! I saw it was a traumatic weekend with your fellas. I liked the posting, but it felt weird. It's not that I liked it, I just wanted you to know I was there. I took the exam I needed for work this morning. It's behind me, now let's hope I passed it. Otherwise, I may have significant time off!! For some reason, all of the herbs I planted in the spring and kept going in the kitchen window, are literally sacrificing themselves outside. I don't have a clue. No frost, plenty of sun, they are watered. Darn.

I hope you get the outcome you want with your exam...either passing or getting a significant amount of time off work. How sad about your herbs...I know you were looking forward to those. We are down to 2 weeks of school left! I'm very much looking forward to the summer but with all that we have going on, it is going to fly by in no time! This weekend is the cabin again and then next weekend is Moab which I'm looking forward to. I'm ready to spend a few days outside where it's beautiful every where you look.

I wore shoes that didn't match on Sunday. No one is going to see my shoes in the car but I did walk for exercise. However, no one would notice. I saw that one shoe wasn't "pristine" like the other. Not that church shoes will stay pristine. But when I looked more closely the shoelaces didn't look right. That means they're older. Even though it's harder to deal with laces that look right, I go ahead and put the laces through the last two holes correctly. I don't know why the last two holes don't have the laces going through them when the shoes are new. But I found the right shoe and put it on for the rest of the day.

I got a mosquito bite through my jeans last night! I was outside hanging out with Kevin and the boys while they worked on a small deck project. As soon as I saw a mosquito I went inside, but then this morning I discovered a bite right on my knee! I hate mosquitoes so much...they always eat me first and I must be allergic because their bites drive me nuts!

Merr, how are the men in your life doing? It was an eventful weekend.
Years ago I worked at Chrysler. A fun part of my job was traveling with the new platforms, testing them out. We were testing the HVAC systems, so we always traveled to warm climates. During a Florida trip, I'll never forget these two people who were part of the team. We had to leave them in the vehicles, if we got out to do tests, or take breaks, whatever. They were being eaten alive by mosquitoes. Faces down to feet. The only similarity between the two of them was that they both drank Mountain Dew, morning to night. It was their caffeine. None of the rest of us drank Mountain Dew. I'm sure that's not your problem, but the two of them were so sweet tasting, at least to the mosquitoes.
So...caught Rocky eating the thyme yesterday. I guess that explains my sad little herbs.

Kevin is still keeping his finger bandaged to keep the germs out and to help remind him to not use his finger. He has started to be able to bend it more than right after it happened, so things are looking good. Tyler unbandaged his and let a scab grow overnight...his arm still looks pretty bad, but he's not really in any pain. Owen popped his blood blister yesterday and wishes he had done it sooner.
I bought some "bug repellent" stickers to bring to Hawaii and try out. I can spray myself with bug spray constantly, but that is gross and isn't 100% effective anyway. I'll just put those stickers all over the place in the evenings along with long pants and sleeves and hope for the best. I should start trying them out while I'm here at home.
I wouldn't have thought that squirrels would like herbs, but I guess it does kind of make sense. I bet they've thoroughly enjoyed them at least!
I'm wearing shorts for the first time this year! It will be 82 today, but I'm mostly wearing them so that my pants don't rub my mosquito bite all day long. I really wish benadryl or something would help them, but they just non stop drive me nuts. But I bet you're all tired of hearing about me and mosquito bites. lol

Have you ever tried the wrist bands? Marc wears them when he mows once the mosquitoes started coming out regularly. I also use these sticks that look like incense burners, they release a smoke. To be honest, the only thing that works, is going into the house.
Wearing shorts. It's brave to start wearing shorts!! I'm sure you have great legs. I can't remember the last time I actually wore shorts. I do wear some that are knee length, I suppose.
I can't tell you how much I am over working. I don't manage the stress like I used to. I used to compartmentalize. I find I can't now. Life is very complicated and dealing with buttheads on a regular basis is starting to look like a waste of time and energy.
Yesterday, an enormous turkey walked through our front yard. I saw it through the dining room window. Alex was at the front door. I think it scared him. He watched it, without making a peep!!

I tried the wristbands in Hawaii last trip and still got bit. At some point our porch in Hawaii is going to be completely screened in so I can enjoy the evenings outside. I only wear shorts to my knees. Never been a big fan of short shorts, they aren't comfortable. I vote for retirement!! We have wild turkeys at our cabin sometimes, but they don't look like the turkeys you associate with Thanksgiving. I've been enjoying the 80 degree days but it's going to cool down to the 60s over the weekend. I've had the windows open as much as possible to let the fresh air in the house. There isn't enough days in the year where you can enjoy having the windows open all day long.

I'm enjoying the cool weather...it will probably be the last cool weather we have until fall. This is the last week of school and me and Kevin are spending it getting ready for our annual trip to Moab! We have quite a few more people coming this year than have in the past and we are camping instead of staying in a hotel so there is a lot more planning and prepping needing to get done. I've got to get the camper all ready and the food all planned and purchased. Kevin is working on making sure that all the toys are fixed and ready to go. Once we're about to leave I'm going to have to post a picture on facebook. We are bringing an extra machine this year and it's going to be crazy! We'll have one side by side in the bed of the truck, one inside the camper and one on a trailer behind the camper! I hope everyone had a good weekend.

re: mosquitoes.
Have you guys ever tried "Skin so Soft" followed by nail polish remover before you go-outside? It doesn't smell bad, and it truly keeps the critters away.
When I was in college down south I never met bigger bugs in my life. And that was a miracle cure my new friends taught me.
(do they even make "Skin So Soft" anymore?) LMAO

Is Skin So Soft from Avon? I heard some lotion from Avon was supposed to work, but I don't remember what it was called. How do you put nail polish remover all over? Just went over our summer schedule and what's expected of the kids so they don't spend all summer long inside on their phones/video games. It didn't go over well. They are all pouting while doing the few chores required of them each day. I'm trying to break some bad habits we all have and make some good ones, but they aren't big fans of it.

So, the annual summer torture of the kids begins... I went plant shopping on Saturday. Just for herbs and a few veggie plants. It was so weird, I rushed in and out. So many people were not wearing masks and it freaked me out. Fortunately, most of them were hanging out in the flowers. It's supposed to rain later. I hope it does. They can't seem to forecast rain. Snow, oh they can get that right...

I went and bought a potted tomato plant and some lemongrass yesterday. I want tomatoes so I'm trying having a potted plant on the deck this year to see how that works out. The lemongrass is to try and keep the mosquitos away. I want to buy some potted plants to put on the deck as well, but I know nothing about them. Will they last all summer or do flowers only bloom for a short time and then I'll have to replace them? I need to call and talk to my mom. Or go to the actual nursery instead of Walmart. Moab was DRY! I mean, all of Utah is a desert and it's dry here, but there was a noticeable difference when we were camping down there over the weekend. We just couldn't get enough water in us and my nose was always dry. This whole week is going to be in the low 90s with no rain in sight. If we had the money, I'd love to astro turf our whole yard so we could still have grass, but not have to use water to keep it alive. The drought here just keeps getting worse.
