And the bagels have the best sauce on them...I'm not sure what it is, but it's so good! I miss them so much. Emily is really considering getting her GED over the summer and starting college in the fall instead of her senior year. She says she no longer has any friends and people are just mean to her so she has no desire to go back to school. I don't mind one bit. We have a meeting with her school counselor this morning to talk about options. Wish us luck!

I'm sorry Emily is feeling this way. How did the meeting go?
All of these outside appointments this week have really put me behind with work. It doesn't help that people send me these half-assed emails that don't include enough information and leave me with multiple questions, I then need to ask about. They know what I need to handle issues, but they just want it off their laps.
I'm in a rotten mood today. At least the weather is co-operating. It's dreary and damp out.

The meeting went fine, but didn't really give us any options we didn't know about. They have an "off campus" option where she can take college level courses, but it would still just be with the same kids she doesn't get along with at school so she isn't interested in that. We're waiting to hear back from some dental colleges about whether a GED would look bad on getting into dental school. We also had a good discussion with her about the realities of homework and studying in college and how she has to put a lot of effort into it to get good grades. She's never had to put much effort (outside of school hours) to get good grades in high school and we wanted to her to understand the effort needed to actually become a dentist. She's going to take some time to decide on her options. Even if she changes her mind about being a dentist, I have no problem with her getting her GED and moving toward whatever is next in life for her. Though, she still has to decide if she's willing to give up prom and graduation. We mentioned we don't understand why she'd want to go to either when she hates it at school so much, but she definitely has a lot to think about. I'm sorry work is going so badly this week tanmi. Are you and Marc both still working from home? We are going to hit 80 degrees this weekend and I'm very excited! It will go right back down to the 60s and cloudy on Monday, but that is okay!!

Great discussions and very real "looks" at what would be involved if she makes these decisions. She sounds very smart and you both sound like you're guiding her very well. My older sister always wanted to be a "vet." Then? During a vacation one year when we were kids? We stopped at a farm animal hospital in Indiana where she could see the "behind the scenes".... that was the end of that. She now works in finance.

Emily LOVES animals so we've talked about being a vet, but she doesn't think she could handle the sad part of the job when the animals don't make it. She's been so set on being a dentist for so long that I'm not sure what else she would do if she decides that she doesn't think she wants to put in the effort to become one. She'd actually love to skip college, but none of us can think of a good job that she could have without going...

I have a good friend who's daughter is going to vet school, Michigan State. It's a very long road... She works on a mobile vet on weekends. She still has years of training ahead.
I hope Emily decides to stick with dentistry. Or, something that she can make that kind of money doing. It would be a great way to look back at this miserable high school situation.
I wish I made lots of money.
I had to run to the door to feed Rocky. He was scratching at the glass!!

Those squirrels have you trained well! Apparently vet school and dental school are 2 of the most competitive schools to get into. No one has called me back regarding my question about a GED being a negative towards getting into dental school or not. Emily's goal is definitely to make a lot of money.

I did. But unlike the other awards shows they didn't do enough clips to make me want to watch those movies, which I knew I wanted to do when watching the other shows. I got Reeboks, the first shoes other than Converse (or a cheap knockoff of Converse which didn't hold up well) in more than 30 years. The Converse shoes that I can wear in the rain wear out on the bottom and don't help when it's raining. So far, I haven't worn my newest Converses that I can wear in the rain enough for them to wear out. But the oldest ones are shot. Excellent point about the movie clips Kyle! AND?? Woah WOAH WOAH!!!! Congratulations on reaching for a new shoe brand! Next stop?? The WORLD! No, I'm not changing shoes brands. This is just for rain. For nice weather, I will continue to buy Chuck Taylors in new colors.

I remember when I was in high school there was a way we could take college courses. There was a college in the town. However, we were warned some of students who try this end up getting in trouble when they don't have a dependable way to get to class. It's not like there's a bus to take you to the high school (although a lot of people drove). There is a woman at my church who works for a dentist. She has one daughter who became a hygienist and if I'm not mistaken, she can practice on her own instead of working for a dentist. I hope Emily is better than the dentist I went to last week. That woman essentially said she didn't want me to be her patient because I wouldn't let them take X-rays. I did my best but there was this one time when I just couldn't handle it. That's out of seven or eight times something was put in my mouth. I was told those were complete X-rays, not the bitewing type where they just put something in my mouth once on each side. It wasn't just the X-rays, though. I wouldn't let her take my blood pressure because it hurt too much and I told her to take it off me, quick. I went back to my old dentist who doesn't have these problems with me. But I can't get an appointment for six months and because I tried to save money I haven't been there in a year. I'm going to try again because 18 months is a long time.

Animalpragmatism who used to post on The WB and here has a daughter who wants to be a vet. I've been keeping up with her on Facebook. She's a few years younger than Emiiy but seems to be as smart as her mom.

Maybe it's best you go back to your old dentist if you like them better.

Kyle, do you have issues with gagging? That's my issue. The last time they got x-rays of my teeth, they has to use nitrous oxide. Otherwise, like you mentioned, they just throw their hands up and walk away.
You're right, Merr, the squirrels do have us trained!! :-) But, what are you supposed to do? Rocky knows how to knock on the door!!
It's my kind of day here. Dreary. Rainy. I love it.
What I don't love? Our water heater went out yesterday!! Damnit!!
We watched Ford v. Ferrari over the weekend. It was a good movie. It was nice to see Christian Bale actually smiling!! Of course the camera shots of Dearborn added to it, since we know them so well.
I put my little, tiny, herbs into pots yesterday, and set them outside on the entry way. I hope they grow quickly, so I can transplant them into the planter.

I think it's very cute that you've made friends with the squirrels. I don't like rainy, dreary days...I need sunshine! Sounds like you're going to have new stuff all around your house pretty soon, which is a good thing and an annoying thing to have happen. We watched Rush the other day, which is pretty similar to Ford v Ferrari. I was surprised I liked them both...not really into race car driving all that much. How is your broken rib doing, tanmi?

I'm doing fine. It's a little difficult to bend down to floor to pick something up, but it will be better sooner than later.
How's Emily doing? I liked her cake!!
A guy is here about water heater. He just used the bathroom. I'm not sure how I feel about it. Now I will have to sanitize it. He probably doesn't know I'm so close by and could hear his every move. LOL.
The last time we needed a new water heater, we replaced it ourselves. I just don't think we're up to that right now.
Good news!! They fixed the water heater!! We didn't need a new one. Yay!!!

Kyle, do you have issues with gagging? That's my issue. The last time they got x-rays of my teeth, they has to use nitrous oxide. Otherwise, like you mentioned, they just throw their hands up and walk away. Yeah. My former dentist just accepted it, or at least his hygienists did. I was told it has something to do with a bone or something in my mouth. The man who took over his practice has a very nice personality and doesn't seem bothered by anything. I've never had my blood pressure taken at a dentist office? I've also never had them do so much to get x-rays either. Maybe it's best you go back to your old dentist if you like them better. I'm going to ask the insurance company if anyone else takes my insurance. This was a new benefit this year. Otherwise, and if I can't find a dentist who I can deal with, I have to go back to paying for every visit. X-rays aren't covered. Which is ironic, because they were when I had my wisdom teeth out. At the time I didn't have dental coverage.

It's Race Day this Saturday...so I've got to get ready for that along with regular work stuff. It's just getting the camper and food ready. Kevin makes sure that all the stuff for the actual race is ready.
The weather has been great this week so we've been working on fixing sprinklers and spraying the weeds that are popping up everywhere. I say we, but really mostly Kevin. I'm very good moral support though.

Maze!!! How did you break your ribs? I'm starting to think you're a clumsy fellow!! So I mentioned the hot-water heater and that fortunately they replaced a part and didn't have to change out the entire tank!! Well, incident two; The guy who fertilizes the yard came by to aerate the yard, well the internet/tv stopped working. Yep. He cut the line. Xfinity had to come out and run a new line. Merr, when do you leave for Race Day? Did you see that Sanditon is coming back, two seasons?

We'll leave tomorrow morning...haven't decided if we'll come back Saturday night or Sunday morning.
You've had some bad luck lately, but at least with that you didn't have to pay for it!
I did see that Sanditon has been renewed for 2 seasons!!! I'm so excited. I'm shocked that it is going to be 2 seasons and not just one. I've been thinking about it all morning with no one to get excited about the news with!
