I am not even going to make a Dean and Cas one
I am making a Cas and Sam thread because their relationship is overlooked by the fans, that even Jared is thinking Cas and Sam hate each other. I don't know why he would say that when there are scenes that contradict what Jared said. I think part of the reason why he said it is because the Sam and Cas friendship is overlooked quit a lot by the fans, so Jared probably thinks the fans don't see anything in Sam and Cas, so might as well say that they hate each other. Back to the topic at hand, what is your favorite scene between them? Mine's will probably be the first time they meet. Sam just looks so innocent at that moment finally seeing an Angel, and the sad thing is the it's not what Sam has been expected to see. It was a sweet scene.

No, Jared didn't say the two characters hate eachother, but in a round about way that they don't love eachother. The opposite of love is indifferent, not hate. Considering that Cas destroyed the only protection between Sam and Hell and refused to "fix" him out of spite towards Dean and now Sam is rendered mentally ill because of Cas, it's little wonder that things are just a bit iffy between them. Sam forgave Cas but it doesn't automatically mean everything is forgotten/clean slate. That's not how forgiveness work. It was for Sam's benefit to forgive, not for Cas' benefit.

Sam was to innocent...almost childlike in believe that angel can make it better.
Now we have seen that angels are a kind of demons with wings, not better than demons. So Sam had to much hope first and then his hope was shattered....
Sam did respect that Dean had a bond with that being. -That's all about them!
Castiel broke Sam's only safety net with one finger touching his forehead, for nothing else than to distract Dean, there would have been many other options. But Castiel wasn't a great thinker...especially when it comes to Sam!

But Castiel wasn't a great thinker...especially when it comes to Sam! Haha, so true. On YT Cas is called the "dumbest angel in the garrison" and in the scene when Cas broke Sam's wall, the comments were ranging from "Cas you moron just teleport the brothers to Russia and leave Sam alone!" to "Dean is gonna have Cas' head on a pike!" to "I'm Kentucky frying Cas' wings!" Even Cas' plans to prevent the ApocalypseII got major beatdowns on YT with commentators pointing out that neither Sam nor Dean will consent to be vessels and Raphael was in retreat ever since Balthazar handed all celestial weapons to Cas. So yeah, Cas is most definitely NOT a great thinker, or even a mediocre one.

see i never bought that scene/line where sam said cas was like family and he would die for him...simply because i never saw any bonding scenes btw sam and cas...it's always dean and cas who are allowed to have these scenes...maybe if the writers had explored a friendship with sam and cas i wouldn't dislike him so much...
and in all honesty, anyone who destroyed my mental state and ignored me and my pain, i wouldn't call a friend..but this is just my opinion...
but i did enjoy the scene where soulless sam told cas off...it was just so BA and OOC from sam (cuz sam seems to be forgiving and holds his emotions in most of the time)

DeanandSam: Did the comments run you off? Back on topic. One of my favorite scenes is the one referred to above. But I like it because I see the humor in the scene and Sam was badass. CASTIEL: I’m mid-battle, Sam. SAM: I could give a rat’s ass about your little pissing match with Raphael. CASTIEL: Listen to me, Sam – SAM: No, you listen! I don’t care what you’re dealing with up in Heaven. You owe me. CASTIEL: You may not care, but believe me – SAM: I’m sorry, do you think we’re here to talk this out? CASTIEL: Sam, I can’t just – SAM: If you don’t help us, I will hunt you down and kill you. CASTIEL: Will you, boy? How? SAM: I don’t know yet. But I will look until I find out, and I don’t sleep. CASTIEL: You need help, Sam. SAM: I need your help.

I loved scene where Sam summoned Castiel by pretending he had knowledge of the location of the lost ark of the covenant. And Cas was so clueless about it.

Another favorite Cas and Sam scene is a serious one where Cas expresses respect for Sam.
CASTIEL "Yes" to Lucifer. Then jump in the hole. It's an interesting plan.
BOBBY That's a word for it.
SAM So? Go ahead and tell me it's the worst plan you ever heard.
CASTIEL Of course. I am happy to say that if that's what you want to hear. But it's not what I think.
SAM Really?
CASTIEL You and Dean have a habit of exceeding my expectations. He resisted Michael. Maybe you could resist Lucifer but there are things that you would need to know.

The best of Soulless Sam! And he only called Cas for Dean. Never for himself. Sam never needed Cas. Even the first scene talked about, by the end of the epi. Sam lost the glamour and called all the angels Dicks.

DeanandSam: Did the comments run you off? Back on topic. Run me off? No, the comments didn't run me off. I do have school tommorow, so while I am online, it's to only distract me from the most important thing, which is schoolwork. Also took a shower. Do you want me to continue? I like hearing other people's thoughts and ideas about what they see in the characters. It's not always going to match your own thoughts, but that's what makes a conversation more interesting.

Okay, I am digging up those interviews again, because Jared is being misquoted here. Here are the pertinent parts re: Sam and Cass, from the two recent interviews. If someone knows of another interview where Jared says Sam hated Cas, that is news to me. In the Examiner interview- J P: right now we know Castiel comes back-- but not as the Castiel we knew and loved, but in a new form, as a new Castiel.
But Sam never really loved Castiel.
J.P.: And vice versa!
How does he like this new version?
J.P.: Fine. Sam never had anything against Castiel, really. He just felt Castiel should do the right thing that he could do, and that’s sort of, unfortunately, Castiel’s demise. In the spoilertv interview, Jared says- "Well, for Dean, it's a double edged sword. He's been really hurt by what Cas did. Sam and Castiel were never close; Cas always had a bone to pick with Sam because of the Ruby thing, which is understandable, the whole apocalypse thing.""Never really loved" or "were never close" is not the same as "hated." Point of fact, I repeat Jared saying- "Sam never had anything against Castiel, really." and also "Cas always had a bone to pick with Sam." because these statements absolutely line up with how I see their relationship. And this is coming from someone who used to ship Sassy, back when I thought angels were representatives of God's wish for human redemption. Sam did think of Castiel as a friend, keeping in mind that Sam has very limited experience in what having a friend is actually like. That being said, he did like Cas, and despite having been betrayed- forgave Cas. It's hard to say what Cas thought of Sam. I do think Jared is correct- that despite gaining a very slow and grudging respect for Sam, to point of calling him friend (and Cas has even less experience in what that means), I do see several times where Cas obviously holds Sam's demon blood against him. Most notably his very hypocritical and over the top rant against Sam in "the Children are our Future" (this is the moment the Sassy ship was dead to me) and still considering Sam an "abomination" (biblically meaning simply "unclean") even after they became "friends." That being said, despite the fact that Sam liked Cas, and Cas tolerated Sam- I do recall having a favorite Sam and Cas scene, and I remember it being in the episode "My Bloody Valentine," but I don't recall exactly what it was. I guess I'll have to watch that ep again. Oh the hardship.

He never came near to being anything positive in the show for me again. JMO

He never came near to being anything positive in the show for me again. JMO Couldn't have said it better myself. I think what angered me the most about Cas, was that he broke Sam's wall, yet Dean was totally forgiving. That was so OCC od Dean's character that we have come to know on the show. Dean used to be, "You mess with Sam or hurt him in anyway, you are dead too me" But in the end of Season 6 he left his comatose brother alone, and basically forgave Cas and on top if all that he considered him a brother and family. Such odd choice of words. I did not see any thing in the show that made me think that Cas was like a brother or like family to either Sam and Dean, so I don't know where the writers conjured that up from. I always viewd Cas as a friend, a protector. And Angel of God who risked everything to pull Dean out of hell and stayed on earth to continue protecting them. I liked that Cas, but the writers had to mess him up and make him in to something that not all fans would buy in too. I certainly didn't buy what they were trying to sell me.

Soulless!Sam was just so BA and Jared played that perfectly as well as Misha.
