I figured I'd start a broad thread for any hints about our chances of being renewed for next season.

I hope we go get a season 8, but at the same time you fear that your favorite show that you once loved will beginning to lose what made it special. Because more seasons usually mean that the characters start becoming more OCC, and I hate that.

Season 8 storyline: lucifer convinces Sam to cut his hair. Dean angsts about it. Bobby returns as a ghost. Sam has secret ghost communicating skills. Dean angsts about it. Cas comes back as a golden retriever. Sam plays fetch with him. Dean angsts about it.



Just kidding! .....I hope. Bring on season 8!

I hope tptb just say F you to all those certain fans and start making the show that they are famous for and that will help the Js get some great emmy worthy performances again. Let them act together. S6 had them together and not allowed to talk to each other, S7 has them apart but angst over each other hopefully S8 will have them together and allowed to talk to each other.

Come full circle...and hopefully JDM back.

Slight different view on that, benson. DEAN has been angsting this season - Sam has been sitting idly by, rubbing his hand from time to time. So yeah, they haven't really been talking much, or doing anything really for each other all season, minus the first two episodes.

Bobby's death just made the season that much more of a downer.

I'd be down for a JDM return - so long as the writers quit taking pot shots at his character every other episode.

Oh IA spoiler. They're hasn't been much action about their relationship for sure. Its more angsting about it to themselves or others. So we'll have S6 (minus the Castiel s/l) and S7 where they are alone and angsting about each other and we'll combine that and have them talk and solve problems, talk about the leviathens and Bobby and Dad and maybe the future or even the past...

We'll have them yell and fight and laugh and cry and move on and bring back the no chick flick moments and get back on track finally.

In essence we should just bring back S1-3

Agreed

This season had so much potential as well. Episode one and two were fantastic, than after the second episode it all started going down hill. So sad.

Season 6 had it's moment. I am just sad that this season was a season Jensen and Jared were really excited about because it was said it was going to be about two brothers back on the road and it really hasn't been like that at all. Not at all the same kind of atmosphere as season 1 and 2. I just hope they are enjoying filming even though us (Some) fans keep shitting on it. As long as they are enjoying it that's all that matters.

Funny they kept saying that didn't they, that they were back just the two of them, brothers alone, bonding etc...and we get nothing. I do wonder if they feel the difference in what they told us and what is being shown?

I think when you have a two brother show and you have one of those brothers outside praying or shoved in a closet purely to make it obvious that Dean has this angel friend saving him all the time...its time to reassess what this show is about.

You know you have a problem when Jared says that (in contradiction to what show tries to say) that Cas and Sam just ... tolerate each other and really don't care for each other. That speaks volumes (btw, I agree with you JP!) about the writing.

It really does spoiler. They are a more aware of things than we realise. I'm glad Sam has a problem with him, I wish they'd show now that Dean does also. Its time for the to boys to stick together and even if Castiel redeems himself, he knows that you don't mess with either one of them EVER! Because the team will always be Sam and Dean.

Same, benson. I mean, this 'woe-as-me' attitude that Dean has regarding Cas just makes me shake my head. The Dean of yester-year would have cleaned house with Castiel for hurting Sam the way he did - for his betrayal. To have Dean even contemplate forgiving him and going easy on him? Makes Dean very OOC for me.

I forgot about the trenchcoat scene ( I mean I just forgot what was said)..and I was watching it today and after all that this idiot made them do and did to them not to mention his swaying brother beside him he folds up his coat and says you stupid SOB or whatever like it wasn't him and he wasn't to blame....guh. its the writers and its just insane that DW would do this.

I'm confused. Why are we bashing cas in this thread now? He's only been in 2 episodes this season so the lack of awesome is NOT his fault. The focus is, as it's always been, on the brothers. Cas has been out of the picture and I'm still enjoying the season. It is a little lack luster but some fans were so sure that once cas was gone the show would get its thunder back. After reading some of these posts, I'm guessing it may not be the case.

Just saying! Not every complaint about the season can be blamed on Castiel when he's not around! Sam STILL has no substantial storyline. I'm just hoping the wait is worth it because the producers have really built up this Sammy meltdown. I hope I'm satisfied. bring it ON. The possibility is still there. The Sammy centric HCW was one of my fav episodes ever..and that's even with Cas's watery death.

Edited: It was Transformers! It was Tyrese who shouted " Bring It!" to bring down the bad bad robots.

I might be in the minority but I enjoyed season 6 alot, sure it turned out to be about the ridiculous angel again and Sam and Dean being his pawns but the mega saving grace was ol Cas wasn't on screen very much (I mind wiped Man Who Would Be King). Season 4 and 5 are nothing but bad memories now, though those season had alot of great stand alone non-angel episodes too.

I want season 8 too, badly, but a widdle itsy bitsy part of me don't because I think I'm abnormally too invested in this show.

Oh, I agree that S6 had some fantastic individual episodes, but the fact that it ended with the brothers being pawns of angels again really put a damper on things. In a way, S7 has been the same- some real highs (Hello Cruel World was one of the best eps in ages) and some real lows (that Spike and Cordy ep- first ep ever that I pretended just never happened) - but I'm still loving the ride.

Although I know what you mean about the tiny part that knows- I think WAY too much about this TV show.

Every show and it's seasons is going to have their stinker episodes. "Shut Up Dr. Phil" was lame but it wasn't diety-awful, to me anyway. The Winchesters were pawns since season 1, of ol yellow eyed and his merry band of demons and angels but at least Sam and Dean were still the focus of the show. Season 4 and 5 they became supporting players of the ridiculous angel storyline and even though they remained pawns in season 6, at least the focus returned to them.

I think for me, it's not so much blamed on Cas, but it's evident that the writers don't know where to go with this. I also thought if Cas wasn't around than the focus will be on the brothers equally, but they have been more apart this season than they were together. So off course I can't blame Cas for that, but the writers. I will blame Cas, however, if they keep him for a season 8
