In Greece, women who work in public services are actually away form work for 22 months!!! (and being payed). In the army it's 14 months and become 17 for the third kid (plus one month for every kid after the third if I'm not mistaken). Men can get 5 working days, but if they work in public services or serve in the army and their wives are working in private section, they can get all the maternity vacation their wife would get if she was working in public section.

6 months at full pay? ? Geez, how do businesses stay solvent paying full salaries for people who aren't at work? Anyway...back to the original subject. While I'm glad to hear Jared won't miss filming any episodes, I hope he's not going to miss out on the precious first hours/days of his/Gen's brand new baby. Work is great, but a new life in the world is more important.

I suppose because it is the law, so all the businesses they are competing with have to do it too. No one complains really. It is accepted as the norm. I was shocked to see how little time US women get for maternity leave.

I remember when I was substitute teaching, at one school subs didn't get a lunch break. You had to grab something on the fly.

Glad to hear that Jared is not missing any episodes which I did not think was going to happen. He definitely deserves his time at home with his newborn son and Gen. Hard to believe Jared will be a daddy now within a month. So happy for him. I remember how exciting this last month was before I had my daughter. He will soon learn the joy of being a parent and he will make a great father.
@ohleessa When I had my daughter had 6 weeks for uncomplicated delivery and 8 weeks for c-section. If you had the time you could take up to a total of 12 weeks. I had a c-section and the time so was lucky to get 12 weeks off work. It flew by though. I know my husband was entitled to time off as well. I can't remember how long he could have taken but I do believe it was a few weeks. He did not opt to do that but could have.
lemongrover glad you found your way here. I read the earlier posts about the Jared bashing on the other sites. I personally avoid those sites. I don't have time to hear all that negativity. I have heard nothing but wonderful stories about Jared and how he is with the fans. For those who don't care for him, whatever you are entitled to your opinion but I would have to agree there are way more fans that love Jared then those few who don't. Supernatural is the show we love because of Jared and Jensen.
