Alright, so since this place is also for music, I have to ask; who are your favorite bands!? It can be any kind, any type of music, whatever, it doesn't matter to me, but I'd love to know what type of bands and music are your favorites and why! I'd also like to clarify that isn't a thread for merely what you like to listen, but what bands/music are you absolute favorites.

We already have this, sort of. displacedcwloungefan.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=othertalk&action=display&thread=190However, you asked about bands. Most of the music I like is not credited to a band but to an individual. Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw had big bands. And for those of you who are young, that does refer to the size of the band but also to the style of music. Guy Lombardo and Lawrence Welk had orchestras, not bands, though the music was similar. Now most of you know Guy Lombardo because he gets played at New Year's Eve celebrations. Bert Kaempfert, Percy Faith and Mantovani also had orchestras. I'm not sure young people even understand the concept of music in an elevator, or even Muzak. Muzak has gone from being a brand of elevator music to being a hip company that denies it even continues to offer the style. There are country bands I like such as Alabama and Sawyer Brown, but only Buck Owens and the Buckaroos ranks among my favorites. No country bands that are currently popular would rank among my favorites.

Not singers and not what's on your iPod, because even with what's on my iPod, it's music I enjoy, sure, but every single song on there isn't my favorite or from my favorite band(s), just FYI.

Dokken because Don Dokken's voice is liquid gold and he's a kickass songwriter.
Europe because I can't get The Final Countdown out of my head
Metallica because I used to play the violin
The Eurythmics because Annie Lennox and David Stewart are the bomb.

I like Disco me hahahahaha I sort of like it. They played this song on "2 Broke Girls". The girls' neighbor loved the Bee Gees, who also performed this song, but they hated them.

I LOVE the Bee Gees too, but more their 60s stuff than the 70s stuff.
This is one of my favorite songs of theirs, and I also think it's one of the saddest songs ever made:

The perfect coda to that video is this one.
Maurice Gibb of the Bee Gess and Lulu were married from 1969 to 1973. They divorced due to his drinking, but remained friendly, and came together to perform this version of the song in 2002.
You can see everything in the song reflected in their eyes as they sing it.
He died Jamuary 12th, 2003.

avp everyone makes fun of me for liking the bee gees lol what can i say my dad got me liking them I know what you mean by everyone making fun of you because you like a certain band or singer... everyone does that for my favorite singer! While it's not a band, just a singer, my favorite singer is Hilary Duff! Yeah, yeah, make fun of me why don't you... but Hilary is literally my role model, all the way from the start of her Lizzie McGuire days. Yes, she is an actress too. Her music has helped me through probably the toughest times ever. One of my biggest dreams is to finally be able to meet her.

The Bee Gees is a great group too! I never said I didn't like them. My radio station which plays Andy Williams, Frank Sinatra, Perry Como and Nat King Cole plays them. But how "Night Fever" fits is beyond me. "Love Is In the Air" has that bad Las Vegas lounge singer quality. "Copacabana" is considered disco. So "Never Can Say Goodbye" isn't all that off the wall.

I used to think Lizzie McGuire was too cutesy, but I found her irresistible in the commercials and finally got hooked on her show. It's actually not bad.
