Just got book four, "A Dance With Dragons" at the library. Boy, I never would have guessed the direction George R. R. Martin has taken many of the characters in the previous books, particularly Lady Catelyn, Rob Stark, Arya Stark, and Tyrion Lannister. Wow! And the time for season 2 of the HBO series is getting closer.

I don't know what it meant, but the words "Game of Thrones" were used last night on "30 Rock". On that show, Alec Baldwin plays the head of programming for NBC (and has won Emmys). He introduced the latest development from NBC's parent company Kabletown--a new kind of Internet access which had a name from Game of Thrones. I don't remember what that name was but it started with X.

Ever get the impression that GRR puts a lot of himself into Tyrion?
I can't help but feel he's the "moral" compas and the voice of the author more than anyone else in the story.
I agree, some of the development has been pretty surprising, not all of them for the better though!
Am so rooting for Rob Stark. You may understand that I was left *semi spoiler ahead* in a silent scream and a rather impatient wait for the coming book! *spoiler end*

If that's the case, George R. R. Martin has a very sardonic sense of humor. Well, heck, we already know that's true. I called upon the seven to give me strength and was able to keep myself from reading the spoilers, since I'm only about halfway through with A Dance With Dragons, but will check them out when I'm finished and return the book to my local maester's repository.

Ooh, well I don't give any detailed spoilers, but good call still to wait I think. A southener if I ever saw one, calling upon the 7. Nay good sir, the old magic is stirring as the old gods awaken to cast down the blasphemous statue worshippers.

Todd on "Are You There, Chelsea?" on NBC wants to be an actor. He's jealous of Peter Dinklage who gets all the good roles.
Just to clarify, Todd is 3'9".

I can only venture into this forum with one eye open, because I have only seen two episodes of this wonderful show. Yep, TOTALLY hooked after two eps!

Last night on "Big Bang Theory" Sheldon wanted to buy a sword to add to his sword collection. Which consisted of just the one sword after he bought it.
I suppose fans of this show will understand its significance. But I don't.

The season 1 finale has now replaced "Swan Song" as my all-time favorite finale. Awesome! I am now watching the finale with the "commentary".

I keep hearing about this show everywhere! I watched the pilot awhile ago but the rape stuff disturbed me. I might give it another try... but is there a lot of those scenes?

I assume you mean with Danerys? No...Keep at it. You and Dany both will come to feel quite differently about her situation. I can't say that all the naked stuff is entirely romantic, but the story is well worth some of the tougher-to-take scenes.

I don't have a problem with the nudity or sex (love True Blood! ), but that bothered me..

Some of you may have seen me mention Mike Huckabee.
For those who haven't, he has radio commentaries three times a day on weekdays. They last about three minutes and, at least where I live, are in the time slots Paul Harvey used to have. his commentaries are similar to Harvey's.
I listen to two of the three commentaries each day. Just now one of the stories was about George W. Bush's head. It couldn't be seen, but that's what it was. The producers apologized anyway, saying they buy heads in bulk and didn't see what they had.

When I watched the commentaries on the DVD, they sounded more amused than apologetic. Maybe they received some criticism and felt it prudent to apologize.

I dreamed about Peter Dinklage last night. I don't know why since I've only seen him in "The Station Agent". One possible explanation is his love of trains in that movie, and Wednesday I was looking at a magazine which had photos he would have enjoyed.

Peter Dinklage was Simon in "Underdog". I didn't know anything about him back when I saw that movie.

I am re-watching Season 1. Then later this week, I will marathon season 2 and be ready for season 3 when it airs. I am fortunate that someone is downloading season 2 "On Demand" and will record season 3 episodes for me.

He wasn't in the credits but I know that was Peter Dinklage in "Mona Lisa". He was smiling really big as he and another little person caused trouble when the movie's star was making a mess of things running from someone trying to kill him.

In "Death at a Funeral", Peter Dinklage is not only the gay lover of the deceased who is trying to blackmail the family because he was left out of the will, but also the death of the movie's title.
