I went to Walgreens last night to get the Covid booster shot and the clerks did not know how to input the data. I wasted an hour until 9 PM. I went back today and the pharmacist who was there explained how to do it and I received the booster.
Unrelated to my ordeal, an idgit was screaming before the pharmacist touched her. She was a nuisance.

My computer froze at least one day this week.
Virus scan did fine when I finally remembered.
No Roy at 4 and I haven't checked the 8:00 newscast. I just wonder if I didn't wait long enough.
No evidence of a mouse. I thought I had found it but it was old evidence in what I was using as bait.

The morning Roy was fine, but the afternoon one had problems and I should look for a video.
Computer froze once yesterday and I had to unplug the modem this morning, which was followed by the websites refusing to connect. I don't know how it finally got better but I didn't have to do anything else.

I've had to unplug the modem several times and even after that got a "refused to connect" message. I don't know if the improvements helped.
I saw both Roys with no problem.
I don't remember whether the computer froze this week but the virus scan did fine. It was at 82 percent when I was about to go to bed and had a six-digit number, but for some reason I checked one more time and it was through.

I turned on the radio station I listen to today and couldn't hear anything. I tried several things but saw no evidence anything was wrong. The speaker wasn't unplugged but it would have said something on the computer screen. When I looked to see if the speakers were unplugged from the power supply. I did notice the green light wasn't on. I don't even know what I did but I heard music.
New email problem. Twice I saw only new emails in the inbox in the account that comes with my Internet service. I went to the email again and finally the other folders came up.
I changed the time on my clock radio a day early and overslept on Saturday. However, it came on twelve hours before that so I had done it wrong. I had a hard time finding which buttons to push to begin with and never did find the alarm time, but it's hard to get down on the floor. If I changed that by an hour it would be easier. On top of that, both mornings since, I've done everything at the same time. I was counting on a later sunrise to make it possible for me to get things done earlier.
With COVID-19, I haven't had to give up seeing the cute girl with the drug problem this time of year. However, someone needed to cut a tree limb the last couple of times I saw her. The billboard itself isn't blocked by the limb. Just the girl. The message is still readable. But they don't light it at night.
More importantly, because of limitations on how much time I could spend on the computer at libraries, and because of the one library giving me the ability to see actual newspapers from home, I don't have to drive after dark.
No evidence of a mouse other than a smell like something died. While that smell is unpleasant, I don't notice it after a while and it does mean something good.

I saw both Roys with no problem.
Virus scan went as planned.
Computer froze just minutes before I needed to quit and before I had done a lot of what I needed to do. I went ahead and restarted but had to do a lot of stuff today that I should have done yesterday.

I just wasted drain cleaner. The sink was draining fine--eventually. But it wasn't a case of the water just sitting there for a long time. I just knew if I waited it might happen at a bad time. I have to not use the sink for 30 minutes or so and the one time I can be sure is when I'm cleaning up on Saturday. Back when the sink was stopped up really bad, that was a good time because there would be a mess to clean up once the dirty water was gone.
Computer froze twice over the weekend. It has also been coming on at night and I think one time it stayed on.
That mouse smell has not gone away. I just don't notice it most of the time.

Computer didn't exactly freeze last night because I could move the mouse and right click for options. But selecting the options didn't do anything. I was trying to share my Christmas tree with my cousin and the share box just quit doing anything, and that meant nothing else worked. And it was just as I was about to quit for the night. This delayed the few activities I had left to today.
Virus scan did fine.
I saw both Roys but moving my old computer chair out of the way for the tree knocked over the TiVo which messed up the antenna. The TV and antenna were knocked over after that. I don't know whether the antenna will work now. I had it set up perfectly and may have to figure out the exact combination once again.
I forgot to mention I ran out of the soap I don't like. then I thought I had found more but the package with the same color was 3 soaps and the Dollar Tree packages have two. Dollar Tree is the only store where that color was the other kind of soap.

Computer froze three times yesterday. This is ridiculous.
I hope I straightened out the wire coming from the antenna so I can not only watch Roy but record other shows. For a brief time the signal seemed fine.
And I've broken another electric shaver. I decided to remove the fidget spinner to clean it better and I couldn't get it back in place. And when I tried the top broke off. That never happened with the other one. Until now. I tried putting everything in the old one. I was able to put the top back on but now there's no fidget spinner. The parts that do the cutting sometimes jump around without the fidget spinner to hold them in place.

Jayne Miller, local news reporter tweeted “ Wow. During one week test period of speed cameras on JFX in Baltimore, 151k drivers (42%) exceeded the speed limit by at least 12mph. Top speed recorded: 173mph!”
I know this has been happening for more than 20 years because that is how long I have avoided that expressway even though it is the most convenient route. The 173 mph seems exaggerated because the curves are dangerous.

I haven't checked to see if Roy recorded. Every time I watch what I have recorded, it takes until nearly midnight and I'm still not finished. Although I did a lot of fast-forwarding through performances of "music" on the parades it still wasn't enough. I had to quit and resume watching the next day. The Charlotte parade was at night so I couldn't see what I was supposed to see half the time. The hosts just talked and talked and the reporter talked to people in the crowd when there was nothing to see yet. Well, that's the time to run commercials. Yes, they already did that. So run more. And there was some break in the parade and the hosts talked and talked and the reporter interviewed more people in the crowd. So when one band played, what did they do? Go to commercial! There were a bunch of blue lights. What were these? Commercials! Fire trucks. It's always interesting to see how the fire trucks have changed over the years. We got to see one. Commercials! I haven't gotten a response yet but I'm hoping to find someone to complain too. Maybe there's footage of what we missed!
Listening to Christmas music on the radio is too much work. In the car I'm constantly having to push a button when there's something I don't like or commercials. Why are commercials so bad with Christmas music on the radio? Because all the big FM stations give us lots of commercial free Christmas music and once there is one commercial, there will be many, many more. If I'm in the car that might mean commercials for the whole time I'm in the car. So I have to hope another station has something good. One AM station has few commercials. On the computer, I'm also always jumping around and it's not simple to just start like it would be pushing buttons in the car. Oh, yeah, the "adult contemporary" stations have to do station IDs that remind us that's what they are. In other words, noise.
Virus scan did fine. I think. I turned on the computer this morning and found it at 95 percent. I must have misinterpreted what I read. And I just checked. It's stuck at 95 percent but at least there's a 6-digit number.
I will post on the Food Thread!

I got to see most of today's Roy. Since it was about the woman named Candy who makes gingerbread houses, maybe I've seen it. But it was very frustrating trying to stay in the position that made the signal work. Any movement and it just turned into a bunch of lines. Somehow, though, the 8:00 recording last week was perfect, without my being around. So far last Monday's Roy hasn't been posted but maybe that's because of Thanksgiving.
I quit the virus scan still at 95 percent. I could have asked for help but that just wastes my time.
Speaking of which I had to reset my password for Spectrum Cable. It was the only way to see "The Good Doctor". Explanation on the thread. But this works for other purposes. The saved password in my computer "does not match our records". But when I didn't see the link for resetting the password, i asked for help and the person on the other end of the chat couldn't seem to help me.
Mouse noises but so far no evidence. Maybe it's an insect or a spider or something.
I tried one radio station for Christmas that has too many commercials. Once there is one, it will be a long, long time. So I just quit listening until I think enough time has passed.

Virus scan did fine. I have not had to turn off the computer all week, but I'm not going to say how I know that.
Not lately, but twice I had to figure out how to get my speakers to work. I discovered the problem was the speaker when the green light wasn't on.

I saw most of yesterday's Roy. Not a rerun as far as I know. Movies on another station appear to be recording.
Twice my monitor has been unplugged. Today I happened to see a message on the screen as I was passing by, which I'm not supposed to id the computer is in sleep mode. Maybe I had just stepped on the cord and caused it to be unplugged. That time, after I plugged it back in, turning it on did not result in things being bigger. Because it was not already on. Solving that problem requires turning it on and off. It takes ten minutes to do anything and it many cases once the Internet finally comes up, I end up on the web site from my phone company that has celebrity news I don't care about, when it's supposed to be email. That means I can't get back what was there before.
Electric shaver is misbehaving but so far the parts that do the cutting stay in place. But I miss some areas and I look homeless.
At long last, I can't keep my mattress pad tucked in. And this one won't allow me to do it halfway like the other one. It's too much effort to try to tuck it in on both sides and the other side was out anyway.

Wasn't sure where this went, but this is a good place. On Facebook someone I went to high school with announced she was a great-grandmother. I feel old when my classmates say they are grandparents. This girl got pregnant before we graduated. In fact, she might have had to drop out but I don't remember.

City made their first pickup with the new recycling cans. The employees spilled about ten items in front of my house and left it there. I was working at the side of the house and saw the trash. I looked at them and they looked at me, but they did not say anything. I used my broom to sweep the items into a pile. When I took photos with my phone, they made a U-turn and insisted on picking up the items. smh

Virus scan did fine.
I went to Dollar Tree and they did not have the Vitamin C drops like I got before. They had Hall's, which meant there were fewer. On the other hand, their bottle of what has a name sort of like Liquid Plumber was full size. For a dollar? Will it work? So far the sink does drain.

My computer froze three times today, including after I turned it on early so it would be ready. And the clock was at least ten minutes slow because when I turned the computer back on, more than ten minutes had passed from the time it has said when I shut it down. I wondered why the monitor was still on because it's supposed to turn off after time has passed.
And the monitor came unplugged several times over the weekend, and I had to turn off the computer so things wouldn't be so big.
And I was getting messages saying I don't have virus protection so I asked McAfee for help. And they're having trouble giving it to me.
Over the weekend I had a nightmare trying to sign up for a certain web site to get help with my heating bill. I did finally get it done but it took a number of tries. I also had some difficulty explaining what I needed to someone at an 800 number. We'll see what happens.
I did succeed in recording a movie. The channel with Roy was like modern art yesterday.

Roy recorded just fine on Wednesday.
My mattress pad is once again not tucked in, after I succeeded in fixing it last week. It would be fine if I never got in bed.
Correction to my statement I recorded a movie. I have no idea what I recorded, but it didn't last beyond the time I started recording. Which makes no sense because a recording starts when it starts, though if there was 30 minutes of the same channel already recorded, that gets added. But the man who exposed himself to his girlfriend's teenage daughter did not air on Sunday. Those shows happen during the week.
My computer froze once this week and the monitor fell several times, and I had to plug the monitor back in but this didn't require turning the computer off to keep everything from being very large.
But there was no virus scan this week. I contacted tech support to find out why the McAfee logo was white. This led to a series of events which will lead to my hopefully buying a new computer like this one next week. I didn't realize the reason my phone bill was so high was that I was paying for premium tech support, but I sure took advantage of that this week. And there's nothing they can do. I have to take the computer to a repair shop to fix it. And it's six years old, plus I'd be without a computer for however long. It would almost be cheaper just to replace it now. After all, I got six years out of this one after getting seven years from the other one. I had to quit using that one when every update caused a blue screen which required doing a system restore. While a system restore might have worked here, I was told that wasn't possible because the last update was ten days earlier. Trying to do a Windows update resulted in an error message. Every possible fix or tool to repair the problem resulted in an error message. In other words, the problem I'm trying to fix can't be fixed because of the problem I'm trying to fix. The one time I did a download using Internet Explorer, the message was "Virus detected. File deleted." Windows updates are different, but with every other download, including the virus software which was uninstalled in hopes of solving the problem, gives me essentially the same message. There may still be virus protection on the computer, but it's not McAfee that's detecting a virus with every single download.

I eventually got the wire coming from the antenna to work but had to hold on to it, so I saw Roy. With some effort, I got the signal to stay consistent after I left.
For some reason a channel for which we were told to rescan is not working even after the rescan.
My computer froze once but the monitor didn't fall again.
No new computer because of supply chain issues but if I call on Thursday they can make sure I get the one I want, if they have it. The library won't be open but I can go back next Tuesday when it is. The cheapest computer the store had was more expensive than the one I have had for six years, but maybe this one will last. The one I am using now cost less than $300, while the new one will cost $500. But I want to continue to use one like what I've had. This one is smaller but I was assured it does everything like the other one. So far so good continuing to use the computer I am using now. It seems slower without virus protection.
I used "Mister Plumber" but nothing changed. I guess it waits until a sink is actually stopped up to do anything, but it concerns me that the sink starts filling and then eventually drains. Maybe it's draining faster at least.

The store didn't get the computer I wanted on the truck that came. I spent most of the afternoon on the phone with tech support, which is why I didn't make it here. I didn't appreciate the way they treated me when they said they didn't have the computer, so when they said I could order one, I didn't order it from them. I didn't know for sure which computer would be the right one so I called tech support. They were determined to fix my computer and at long last, someone took control of my computer, but all their efforts, including some changes I had to make myself, failed to solve the problem. When I was told to reinstall Windows, I said no. After spenfing all that money, I still have to buy a new computer. When that one gets here this week or next, the same people can help me move my information from the old computer to the new, but if I haven't committed to this service, I'd rather just drop it. It didn't benefit me except the guy looked at the computers that were available and chose one he thought I would like. I agreed, and he also helped me determine that my credit card had been rejected and the order had not gone through. The minute I hung up, my phone rang and it was my credit card company telling me about the purchase and asking me to confirm I had made it. I called again to complete the transaction and was on hold for at least an hour, with the same annoying song playing over and over, so I held the phone in a way I could hear a person talking, which unfortunately happened all too often as they told me to try the web site (if that worked I would have) and how important the call was. I was told the transaction had been completed, but I had the hardest time explaining my email address because the person could not understand the letters when I tried to spell it. Once that problem was solved, everything was fine.
In the process of trying to fix my computer the person removed AdBlock and I can't get it back. I'll have to download it on the new computer.
My computer froze yesterday but I had saved what I was working on and instead of getting sent to my email I was able to click on the blue button and go back.
There is a channel checked on my TiVo that is connected to an antenna but when I try to record it I get blocked. It might be the one I'm trying to record but already I've missed a lot of movies that likely won't be back and haven't been on any channel on my cable system.
So far so good on my mattress pad.

Continuing: Roy worked but only because I was holding the wire.
I came up with a way to get the channel I lost when something was done for ATSC 3.0. It worked. Why the same channel was listed twice in my channel list I don't know but it would only let me record one of them. By deleting that one from the list I was able to record the other. Too late for all the movies I lost. The channel where I normally watch movies has had very few Christmas movies and only a few of the ones that were on the other channel.
While I was getting my various rmeotes I stepped on the cord for my computer and it came unplugged. I had the worst time plugging it back in. Once I undecorate my tree later this week I can plug it in better and not have this happen again. But my old computer chair is in the way now. Also, I unplugged my monitor while trying.
I did find another place to listen to Christmas music today. One station I thought would still be playing it stopped at 1:00. Also, the format is way more complicated than I thought it would be and it won't be a station I can enjoy.

I had two home improvement jobs contracted during the past week. Both jobs were completed satisfactorily, but there were several issues with the workers. Both crews kept approaching me without wearing a mask, even the ones who were not physically performing the tasks. One of the team leaders was so unprofessional, I was compelled to mention it. Although he inappropriately complained to me about two ex-girlfriends and a current one before I could stop him, he resented me telling him to stop. He seemed to be on some type of uppers and was very hyper. I was glad the project was completed by a different worker.

Computer came early. I selected the free shipping option and it still arrived Wednesday. And yet it wasn't as easy to set up as I had hoped. Nothing ever is.
Transferring information from the old computer had two complications. One is that I wasn't paying for two computers. I would have to pay more or not get help with the old one. I think that's what he said. The other problem was I would have to use a flash drive. I don't have one. So nothing could happen yesterday.
Even before I removed the old computer, all the various wires were so tangled up I had a hard time separating everything, and all this time the red light from the mouse is shining in my face. And of course the monitor falls several times and comes unplugged. The power cord isn't long enough and the extension cord I added hasn't helped that much. The old computer came unplugged so I wasn't able to keep it on for any transfer of information or anything else.
First problem with new computer: Which way is up? I don't even see an on button. It did come with a keyboard and mouse so I hooked those up. It wasn't clear where I would do it but once I turned the computer on both worked. I did see where to plug in the stereo speakers. So where is the cord to plug it in? Oh, here it is. But where does it plug into the computer? I don't see a hole like on the other one.
Wait, that's the cord from the old computer. So that's unplugged, so once the monitor is disconnected I can't do anything with the old computer. Now where do I plug in the monitor?
I checked inside the box and I hadn't found everything. The power cord was there and it's ONE cord that doesn't plug into anything! What a relief! And now I see what that is I tried to plug the other power cord into. It works! Now where is the on button? It must be one of those things on the front. Oh, there it is. Also, there's an owner's manual but the print is too small.
There's where I plug in the monitor. Why isn't it working? Stop talking! if I wanted your help I'd ask for it. I'll try unplugging it. Why can't I do that? Finally! Okay, again. Now it works! Now I have to go through the process of setting up. So many things to do.
I contacted McAfee because I was told to read terms and conditions and I found things I was glad I had seen. I have a month of free McAfee but the terms and conditions said contact them a month in advance to keep it from automatically renewing. I did. For this situation it wasn't necessary.
All sorts of things were new and lots of things had to be done. No longer do web sites come up automatically when I type a few letters, but as I find each one, that changes. I have to sign in to every site, but because I'm still using my Microsoft account, nearly all my saved usernames and passwords from the old computer are still there. For those that aren't, it's harder.

Also, I don't know how to put the computer to sleep at night. Or change the settings so I can do a virus scan (which surely isn't necessary after one day). The computer was not on all night and I had to turn it on this morning, sign in, and then get back what I was doing earlier.
More stuff happened.
So far so good on the mattress pad.
I lost Roy because I saw the perfect signal and figured I was set. Third commercial is for a Steve Harvey show. Steve is not on this channel. By the time I find the recording of what I am supposed to be watching, it's mostly not something I can watch. The good news is the subject was Rosie the Riveter. Is that the one who was just on? If so I'm fine.
Dick Clark's show is on the other channel and so is the Rose Parade.

And just like the last computer, this one is starting out with all sorts of problems. It was on all weekend. This morning all I did was step on the power cords. It turned off. The good news is this one doesn't take as long for me to be able to use it once it is turned on but the on button is so hard to push. Meanwhile, I don't know what happens if I tell it to sleep. Does that mean it will come on with everything I was doing before all ready to go? No one will tell me.
I already got a fake virus message. I tried to send it to McAfee (which was mentioned in the message) but I get a 400 error whenever I try to go to the McAfee web site, unless I got there from private browsing. I didn't want to waste time or have anyone take over my computer. If it's not fixed when the free month is over, I'll have the phone company deal with it when I switch to their virus protection from McAfee.
And I haven't been able to set up the mail on my computer so I can receive emails from anyone but Hotmail or Outlook. About Outlook: when I added more storage because my OneDrive is almost full, it wouldn't let me until I added a second email address. But I still have a red X telling me I can't add anything to OneDrive and no one will tell me what to do with the file that is too large to go there. I already added storage for free, but when I click on the warning, all the options require me to pay. I was able to watch the Rose Parade and it's possible I didn't miss anything. I stopped each recording when I was watching the other one in the other room. I only watched what one of the two networks had about each float or other entry. Some of the entries were only on one of the networks.

I misread what my computer said about a virus scan. I told McAfee to scan and it did it while I was sitting there. Not what I had in mind. Then I saw a scan was scheduled for Thursday at 4 A.M. And I just now realized that would have been the previous night, though my computer was on all weel. But the Thursday when the scan will happen is in two weeks.
As for my other computer problems, I did somehow solve the problems with receiving mail. I have not figured out how to get OneDrive working again.
I saw both Roys.
Evidence that I have a new mouse is increasing. Most of the bait I put out is gone. I heard something making noises under the chair next to the one I sit in when on the computer. Mice have gone under there a lot. Then I heard noises a different place.

I went to the supermarket yesterday for the first time since the pandemic. There were no available carts or hand baskets. Fortunately, I had a large reusable hardware store bag in the trunk. I used that to place the groceries in and no one challenged me for doing that. After walking back to the car to get the bag, then carrying the groceries around the store, and then waiting in line for an hour in warm clothing, I was beginning to feel very hot. The mask was making me feel even hotter. If I need something, I will go to a different location.
The main reason I went was to get a steak. A steak on Amazon Fresh was $45 for 16 oz. and they were not going to cook it for me.
