AA, from what I've read, the only markets affected are Los Angeles, New York and Dallas. At least those are the major markets affected. I wouldn't be surprised to see some smaller markets included in this as well.
These stupid cable companies have us by the neck. There's no competition....no other cable company to choose from. All I could do is get satellite TV, but I know they've had their arguments with the TV companies before, too.
Where do I get an antenna and some rabbit ears?

I know it is not funny, but I did have to laugh at the "antenna and rabbit ears".
When we had the extended outage, the electricity came back on, but the satellite was still not working.
I tried using the TV that was not hooked up to satellite/cable and there was only static. Then I remembered we needed to buy a special box, which I never bothered to do.
I wished I could use the antenna and rabbit ears.
I hope they get over their dispute soon.

Hello, I liked the rabbit ears and antenna comment. Young people today won't know what that is, nor do they know what it is like to only have 6 channels In my area I still have CBS, but I don't watch very much on that network anyway. From what I have heard about satellite it isn't very good, I still have cable and it is ok for now.

Anti, I forgot to address your comment, I don't watch Under the Dome, I watch very few network shows anymore, I either lose interest in a show, or I get mad when they cancel it, so I tens to watch a lot of reruns.
At least they haven't got rid of our show yet. ;D

I am happy they did not cancel our show and very happy they let us know very early that there would be a new season. They were so kind. I must watch very popular shows because I have not run into the issue of favorite shows being cancelled. SoCal, please let me know when you watch The Killing finale. I have never seen a series that kept surprising me the way that show has. It was shocking to me Of course, there is the chance that you are accustomed to their twists and turns because you saw the first two seasons. It is getting late here so I will check in tomorrow.

AA -- I missed the 2-hour "The Killing" finale last night. I had the tape ejected from my VCR and didn't notice until this morning when I went to re-wind as I got ready for work! I'll have to try to catch it online sometime during the week. Up until now, they've been running re-runs of the last week's episode on the following Sunday morning, but I remember last season the one episode they did NOT re-run was the finale. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Will let you know when and if I get to see it.

These stupid cable companies have us by the neck. Blame CBS. They're the ones who demanded a shitload of money from Time Warner...I can happily do without CBS.

I just hope they come to some agreement before the fall season begins. I don't watch much on CBS, but 2 of my favorite shows are "Person of Interest" and "Elementary," both CBS shows. Aren't they raking in enough money? I blame both of them.

I have fallen in love with Elementary and will work it into my schedule in the fall. So I need CBS.

As for Craig...well, I'll survive without him. I can see him on youtube in any case.

Agreed, Aeryn. I think CBS is going to find out just how easy they are to replace. If it was 30 years ago, and we still had only 13 channels and CBS, NBC and ABC were the only sources for entertainment, it might cause more of an outrage among viewers. But with so many other outlets.......well, I'll miss Elementary and Person of Interest, but I'm pretty sure they'll have reached an agreement before Sept-Oct. But they're both still jerks.

Before paid TV we didn't have to worry about this nonsense.

Before paid TV we didn't have to worry about this nonsense. I agree. I am still having difficulty understanding how one of our primary networks can be off the air. Does Time Warner own other stations that you are now unable to watch?

I believe there are some local CBS afilliates that are off the air, as well as some satellite options. It's all so stupid.

Hey everyone We need to get our work done in the next couple of weeks. The DVDs should be coming out soon. I did not preorder this time, but when someone knows the date they will be in stores, please let me know. I'll set the alarm so I can get up early. All I have been doing is going to the movies, window shopping and eating. I did visit the community center for mature adults but they did not have anything scheduled that I am interested in at the moment. They have 3 trips scheduled for casinos, but I am not in the mood to throw any money away. I wanted to go on the New York trip, but they are staying in a hotel in New Jersey and commuting to New York. I like to stay in New York so I can make plans on my own. Darn it! They told me to check back in two weeks.

You could make it easy on yourself and pre-order from Amazon. They always apply any discounts even when you pre-order. Plus, the dvd's usually always arrive in the mail the day they are released.

I am going to pre-order it in a couple of days, I was just waiting till it got a little closer. That way I can get it delivered on the day it comes out and hopefully not have to leave the house for a couple of days. I like days where I don't have to leave the house.

I placed the pre-order and I should have it on the 10th. I love watching all of the extras. I will watch the ones that have the commentary also. There have been a couple of those commentaries that were tedious, but they have experience in doing that now.
Under The Dome can also be pre-ordered for $49.99 or $79.99 (Blue Ray), but I am sure there are only 13 episodes and you have to wait until November. I am not interested.

Howdy I was having Supernatural withdrawal symptoms so I pulled out season 6. November, did you ever watch the anime episodes included with the discs? This is the first time I watched them. They did a pretty good job. They changed some stuff but they used Jensen's and Jared's voices and they used "Carry On My Wayward Son". It sounded really good; must have re-mastered it.

Howdy back I have to admit I have never watched the anime episodes, I have never cared for cartoons of anything like that. It just bores me, but if others enjoy stuff like that, I am happy for them. I finally ordered S8 SPN so now in a week or so I can watch my fave episodes over and over, I like to watch some of the action sequences in slow motion so I can actually see what they are doing. I have done that with some of the more action packed episodes and I can see how the fight scenes work better for me know.

I understand about the anime - it took me two years to watch them. Japanese cartoons are much more violent than ours. They gave Sam extra abilities. I am now going through the journal on the season 6 Blue Ray disc. I must be really missing Supernatural. When I get S8, the first thing I will do is check for the extras. Then watch some of the episodes with the comments turned on. I am not getting the Blue Ray this time because it limits me to one room - unless I invest in another Blue Ray player. I am getting excited.

I had two unexpected visitors this weekend. The first was my #1 grandson. He is on leave and had a friend drop him off at my house. It was a real pleasure to see him. We both like football so we enjoyed watching NFL together yesterday. The #2 grandson was dropped off without notice. The visits were unrelated, but it is always a pleasure to see him too. So I had two people whose ears I could talk off the entire weekend. I am all caught up on recorded shows and DVDs. I watched EVERYTHING on the Season 8 DVDs, including the episodes where the producers talk. I enjoyed everything, but the outtakes are not really funny. I am now watching some of the movies that have been on the Netflix list all year. Then the process will start over again. Oh...Breaking Bad will start a marathon of ALL of its episodes on Wednesday. I have them set to record. I never saw any of the episodes with Esposito and I would like to see those. The show ends with the episode that is airing on Sunday.

It is once again quiet at home since my grandson returned to duty. He said he might be able to return home for the Christmas holiday. That would be nice. No one in the family bought him gifts last year because we did not expect him to come home. He did not care. A utility guy came today to install one of those utility meters that sends information about our daily usage and can detect if someone is in the house, etc. A lot of people are fighting them because they do not want that type of meter. I do think it is intrusive but I also think it is inevitable. After all the crap I went through to get the group insurance plan last year, the corporation has now told all retired employees we have to switch to individual insurance plans...no more group plan. As SoCal would say...crap! Utter crap! I signed up for health and drug coverage yesterday. Now I need dental and vision coverage. The group plan took care of everything. I know we are all looking forward to Supernatural next week.

Poor AA...welcome to the brave new world of "Obama-care." I'm not surprised that corporations will find it financially better for them to let current and former employees get their own insurance.
Even though the "Great One" told us, "If you like your current plan, you can keep it."
Crap, utter crap.
