See the Weather thread.
And I'm back. Saw a typo I had to fix. Didn't want to lose this. There will be more. Edit: Okay, that's it.
No mouse sound last night but that's almost certainly what it was the previous night because no spider could push a box.
I hate hearing a certain type of grasshopper. It means I'm a month away from being able to go to the beach. Room rates have to go down and it has to be less crowded. Also, the weather has to be good. But years ago I heard that grasshopper when we were going to the beach.
Yesterday I was on the computer too long, but I'm glad I was. I got a message to restart the computer because of updates. Maybe that's why the computer was giving me so much difficulty yesterday.
And I had to unplug the computer today because of a Berkshire Hathaway newspaper. I actually had the computer freeze on the main page! I think that problem cleared up except the window disappeared. But I couldn't get off the page where I was reading an article fast enough.
And classes seem to have started at the college. Meaning I can't solve my problems with specific web sites by going over to the library. I just know there would be a lot of students needing to use the computer they expect me to use. Waiting is worse than what I dealt with today. All summer long, I could have been going over there and not having all these problems and now I can't.

See the Weather thread.
I've heard mouse sounds briefly and I think they may have been in my room. I saw a really large bug flying so that could have been it. I thought I got the bug when it flew in my ear but another bug got squashed instead. I saw the big bug somewhere else.
I haven't had to unplug the computer because it froze, but I have sometimes lost a window that quit working. Virus scan did fine today once I finally got it started, which was more difficult this morning. I also had a problem with a Berkshire Hathaway newspaper that cleared up on its own.
I had to use the electric razor that keeps coming unplugged. But I do look better now.
"Roy's Folks" didn't record Wednesday but I finally got a response about how to see the videos.
I nearly forgot to cancel Hulu but I did remember my first attempt to watch shows was a week before the first of three weeks, so that is four weeks. I could have had another free week. However, I looked for the date of the "Jeopardy!" episode I missed in this thread and never found it. I also don't know which "Speechless" episode.
A month's worth of newspapers were missing from a library I go to. It was closed for nearly a week to fix the air conditioning but that's hardly an excuse, unless the post office was holding on to their mail so it wouldn't get delivered all at once. I hope all those missing papers are there next time.
Even worse, I saw two weeks worth of papers that were there at the college I graduated from. I have to make up for all the time I didn't have to spend reading newspapers at some point, and this made me an hour late getting home last week. If only I had known, but anytime I get an opportunity I need to take it, because some might be missing later. I did get more computer time and that made it easier yesterday, and I got more done.

I had the computer freeze today because I was looking at just the web site for a Berkshire Hathaway newspaper, not an article in that newspaper. It's possible that what messed up the site was my trying to click on an article when the box telling me to subscribe was coming up, but that shouldn't be a problem. The box only comes up once. The site disappeared, and as I was sending a Yahoo email to myself, that site disappeared too. But I got a notification that I had received that email, so that worked out. I didn't have to unplug the computer. The only real problem I had all weekend was that the computer came unplugged but I saw it because the modem had five lights (because I had to unplug the computer to turn it off) earlier, and I saw four.
I saw the mouse. It jumped and escaped through the hole the plumber said he was fixing. It never came out into the room where I was and I never heard it at night after that. I think I heard noises on Friday night.

No mouse noises, or at least I think the noises could have been something else.
No computer problems so serious that the computer had to be turned off, and virus scan went well but there is a software update and I thought I told the computer to do that. Nothing happened.
I saw some of the "Roy's Folks" videos but I'm not clear on how many there are. I didn't even get a recording Wednesday. Sometimes if I do I can tell there was a story.
I can't find some of the shoes I need.
Wednesday I didn't wear a belt and the pants I thought didn't need one kept falling down and I was constantly trying to hold them up. I actually saw my underwear once.
I got a phone call in the middle of the night. No message was left. I could see that my oldest TiVo was recording.

See the Sports Thread and the Food Thread.
Why it is just Saturdays I don't know, but while the light was on in the bathroom I don't use, as it always is after I clean it, the mouse came out where the pipe goes into the wall. I turned off the light and closed the door, which isn't really closed since it's a folding door. I found a trap where the last mouse got caught and put it where the mouse can go from the bathroom into the bedroom. I also found "evidence".
I couldn't see the recording on my oldest TiVo by looking at the newest one. I turned on the TV it was connected to and it wouldn't come on (though it is 19 years old, and even though it took a break for several years, that's pretty good). I had to disconnect it and lift it to move it in the other room. After I disconnected and moved the one TV that was still hooked up to a converter box, which doesn't work anyway. I moved that TV and put it where the other one was. The TiVo didn't work. Oh, wait, it has to be connected. And it still didn't work. I tried turning it to Channel 3 after it had been on AUX. Oh, there it is. AUX is for the yellow and white cables, but I don't know where they are. Channel 3 is for when it's hooked up like the other one was. That one didn't have AUX. I have a VHS tape stuck in that TV that doesn't work. If it won't turn on, it won't eject.
I found one of the shoes. They're falling apart but for now I wear them on Saturday if it's a holiday weekend. But the shoes I wear in the Fall if it's raining or might rain I haven't found.
The Berkshire Hathaway newspaper drove me nuts. I clicked on a back button to go from one to the other, but my mistake was not going to a completely different web site. I had to unplug the computer twice. The third time I turned it on the site just didn't come up at all, and another site wouldn't let me do anything but click. I tried something and that cleared up all the problems. I'm not sure why the search at the bottom of the screen worked and the one at the top didn't.

I definitely heard the mouse one night and got close to where it was. The sound I heard was the mouse, all right, but I never saw it. That's all I've seen this week. I shouldn't have opened the door, I guess.
I turned on my computer yesterday and the monitor was unplugged and the plug also came out of the back of the computer. The old one plugged in much more securely. No problems with the virus scan. I did have problems this week that did not require unplugging, but it was close several times. No problems with online newspapers this week. Also, every single one of the missing newspapers at the library came in, just counting those from August 25 or earlier. If I don't go to the beach next week I'm going back to that library and I'll see whether the rest are there.
"Roy's Folks" recorded on Wednesday.
I mentioned my refrigerator problem at the store where I bought it and was told to call the service number. I'm not paying to have it fixed. I didn't get a warranty. Besides, the problem cleared up on its own. And came back.

No mouse problems.
I threw out a shoe that was falling apart. I forgot that when I wore a red, white and blue shirt I should have worn the appropriate shoes too, but those are the ones that are in bad shape.
I plugged in the TV that had a VHS tape stuck. It came on and the tape ejected.
No Berkshire Hathaway problems but my computer has frustrated me a number of times.
I used the electric razor that keeps coming unplugged. That's a real challenge. Maybe I can find a new one the next time I have points. I wanted to use all my points so I got pants instead.
I know now why I couldn't find a "Jeopardy!" episode in this thread. The problem happened over a year ago and I was looking at this year's posts. If I can remember to look later, I will, but I don't have time now.
I know there was something else. Maybe I'll think of it today. Maybe I won't.

Whatever I heard one night while watching TV, it was very loud. It made ordinary mouse noises but twice it sounded like a drill. The closest thing I've heard to that sound was a woodpecker. No other sightings or noises.
I unplugged the rechargeable razor and it wouldn't work. If it's charged, shouldn't it work regardless of how long it has been unplugged?
No Berkshire Hathaway problems but I sure have had computer problems today. I started the virus scan and without waiting to see if it started, it did. But it wasn't through when I got on the computer. At least I don't think it caused problems. It sure got through fast considering it was at 75 percent or something like that. I lost an email to myself that I hadn't saved in over an hour. And that wasn't from needing to turn off the computer. It just wouldn't let me save it and then it just disappeared.
Also, there was a time when my computer was unplugged because the cord was loose from the back. I think the monitor was unplugged at the same time. It was unplugged a couple of times.
No Roy recorded on Wednesday but we were told to rescan and, while it wasn't one of the channels affected, that one and another one I've had trouble with are doing better. One of the channels that did move I can't pick up but they've gotten complaints and it may be their problems haven't yet been solved.

While at the beach, I put the batteries in the recharger and had the hardest time getting it to work. I had to unplug something that looked like a shell and made noise. I guess it was a fan. I was glad to make that thing stop working. It may be some outlets have to be turned on. The one in the bathroom was turned the wrong way and i couldn't plug the recharger in. When the batteries were ready I shaved and it felt like I had done nothing. So I decided to try cleaning it. No blades! I had picked up the old razor whose blades got lost when I tried to clean it. Why do I still have that thing? No wonder there were no batteries. I thought there was one.
One Berkshire Hathaway problem today which was solved by just waiting. Same experience with the virus scan as last week. There was an update which required restarting and I have done that.
I haven't checked for Roy but I wasn't home for either one. And the channel wasn't working last time I checked. The channel I needed to rescan does work.

Even before I got to any Berkshire Hathaway newspapers I had problems but when I got through I forgot to leave the site and there was nothing I could do but unplug it. And then the Myrtle Beach radio station kept sending me to a message that my computer was inadequately protected and I had to call a number to keep files from being deleted. This went away when I went to private browsing, which I use to cheat when reading newspapers. But my Wisconsin station kept repeating part of a song. The got fixed when I tried again. Then my Internet went out just as I turned the station back on for the second time. Rather than deal with the TiVo, I just listened on the computer and had no more problems.
I almost missed Roy. It was harder to hold the antenna just right. Today's story was about a 1961 replica Mayberry squad car. And no recording whatsoever while I was gone.

See thr Tanmi thread and the gas price thread and the Food Thread.
No problems with the virus scan except it was slow to start. I was told I needed software updates but that happened quickly with little effort. I got that screen with the annoying beep telling me by computer was compromised, which of course is a fake message telling me to call an 800 number which will really cause problems for my computer.
One day my computer froze before I even got to the Berkshire Hathaway newspapers. And today I lost an email I had been working on but did find out there were problems in time to save it. I also lost something else when it just disappeared for no reason.
eBay has sent me several emails using an email address I don't want to use for that but I can't figure out how to change it because when I sign in I have another email address, the one I want. I wasted too much time trying to get answers in the "community".
I discovered this morning … I'll just do that on the Cat Thread.
Forgot one. Roy didn't record. I got just enough to see there was a story on Wednesday but I wasn't home.

I need to do something about my mower. It's making too much noise. There was a picture of a turtle on the old one that I could use to fix it but nothing like that on this one. Anyway, the grass won't grow any more and I'll just start the mower once a week a mow a small area so the mower won't be so hard to start next year. I had to fill up the mower when it was hard to start but that gas will be there all winter. So will the gas in the can.
Forgot the food thread but I promise I'll go there today.
I had to unplug the computer just because I forgot to get off the Berkshire Hathaway newspaper's site. Also, I shouldn't have had so much going on at once.
I heard a noise in the wall that could have been a mouse, but I don't think I heard an actual mouse inside the house. There is a new way for one to get in since the hole made for my new furnace 20 years ago has an opening at the top after the wood covering it came loose.

See the Food Thread.
I heard noises that would have to be a mouse on Wednesday night but nothing last night. I have been seeing large spiders and trying to step on them but they hide. This could not have been a spider.
All I did was a search for articles I saw in the real Berkshire Hathaway newspaper at the library. At least I saved the email to myself.
Another message telling me my virus protection is about to expire. When I go to the directions nothing is as they tell me it should be so there's no way to stop the messages. I'm not going to bother calling tech support.
Someone is calling and leaving a message that says to press one for English. I hear Spanish and then another English message but it hangs up when no one answered.
Roy didn't record but I found both stories that I have missed online.
On a related subject I saw a crawl saying NBC would be off Spectrum unless the problem was resolved by tonight. I didn't see the crawl during an NBC program but if it was resolved I would have seen something by fast-forwarding through the 11:00 newscast. On the other hand, if it wasn't resolved I would have seen something there too. I don't have time to get an antenna on Veterans Day and I don't know any other time I can get one. I did see an ad in the local paper so maybe I can call that person. Hopefully I won't need it next week. "Jeopardy!" is where I saw the crawl but that show isn't a problem since my cable system has another station with the show.

I have had so many computer problems but nothing that actually required turning off the computer. One time I came close.
The sound wouldn't come on so I clicked on the troubleshooter. There was a software fix which required restarting so I did that. Then I noticed it said the speaker was not plugged in. I had checked that but It was loose.
I lost an email to myself but it turned out I had saved it. The email disappeared as I was saving it before I got a message saying it had been saved. There was also a case where I kept clicking on a newspaper headline and got an ad instead, meaning one new tab and then another and then another. I seem to recall something freezing after that. No Berkshire Hathaway problems today, though.
No more crawls on my NBC station since I was here last. I was afraid to watch "Jeopardy!" until I confirmed shows were recording. I did watch another show I had recorded earlier and saw a crawl. Apparently the crawl was being shown once an hour and not on every show.
I did have a crawl about an Amber Alert during a movie. That wouldn't have been a problem but they just had to add audio, and gave a detailed description of everyone and everything. Then they informed us the child was found. Could they not have done that with a crawl? And once?

AVP, at least you're making me feel better about my mouse situation. I heard noises under the house but it could be the cat.
See the Food Thread.
What a day.
No crawls lately about losing my NBC affiliate so I hope that's over.
There was an EAS type Amber Alert which was annoying. Since my TV was being held hostage, I checked another one and found out, even though the signal was fine at that time, Roy did not record.
Berkshire Hathaway newspapers caused me no end of trouble today. First I forgot to get off of one of their web sites and an email I was sending myself just disappeared. At least I had saved it a few minutes before but I lost two articles from another newspaper and had to go back to it. Being a Berkshire Hathaway newspaper it caused the computer to freeze but that's okay because I remembered I had success with CTRL-ALT-DEL, which I should have thought of on all those other occasions. It took patience but the screen eventually came up and when I clicked "cancel" everything was fine. Until the Berkshire Hathaway newspaper froze again. I had saved the email, it turned out, but either I just wasn't patient enough or CTRL-ALT-DEL didn't work this time. The other time I got a blue screen immediately and saw the cursor doing stuff.
Oh, and that's after I got a message saying I needed to update software (after the scan was successful) and the update failed. I went to McAfee tech support and when I clicked to get rid of a bunch of extra tabs, I had lost the ability to chat. I restarted the chat after having to take a case number from an email and say I needed help with that. But this required signing in and I didn't know my password and asking for help didn't help. I started fresh and got a message telling me how to reset my password. When I saw the rules I knew why I didn't know my password. But I didn't need it as the chat had started. The person got hung up on my password problem rather than my other problems. I was told to update my software again and this time it worked but the computer froze and I couldn't tell the tech support person that. So I started another chat with someone else. I should have gotten that person to check my subscription but there haven't been any new messages. Later I got a phone call and a voice that sounded like it was from India left a message. I answered as soon as I got to the phone but he didn't comprehend what was happening and apologized for calling when he wasn't supposed to, or at least that's what it sounded like.
I lost a tube of toothpaste I bought last week when I got an unbelievable deal. I had to buy another. I had to go in my makeup bag to find the other sample from the dentist which I was counting on to be there the next time I packed to go somewhere.
I couldn't open my washer after I closed it to put stuff on top. I was afraid to break something. There's a red light that comes on when it won't open during a wash, and it was on. I ended up trying harder and found I had gotten a sock stuck where it wouldn't open.

The right side of my mouth especially the jaw area is very sore at times, it eases up after I take some pain medicine but then comes back after a few hours. Ouch!
Fortunately since we caught those 7 mice, we haven't had anymore. We've left the traps set though just in case.

I bought a month's worth of groceries on Monday. I was tired so I ate some of the rotisserie chicken and it was delicious. Around 6 PM, I had a terrible headache and nausea. Every time I walked, it got worse. On Tuesday, we were informed that chicken at Giant and a couple of other markets had a recall on contaminated chicken. I am just going to toss it rather than return it. I continued to be sick Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I feel better today but not completely back to normal.

If it is, it's really fast and returned to where it started. It went in the bathroom and I closed the door. The next step is to find a way to close that hole where the pipe goes into the wall, which the plumber had said he would. All I did was go to the main page of the Berkshire Hathaway newspaper! And CTRL-ALT-DEL did nothing. And I'm sure I've had other computer problems but not that much today. I deleted a message on my answering machine because the person didn't start talking fast enough. I remember thinking it was important for some reason.

I can't confirm I heard a mouse but I heard something.
My new bathroom sink has been draining really slowly and last night after not being used for a while it still had water in it. Luckily, I still had some leftover drain cleaner and I'll get more next week.
An email disappeared but I had just saved it because my computer was misbehaving. Another site disappeared. In both cases I was warned by a rotating circle that just kept going around.
My Yahoo groups are going away, but one is exploring ways to keep active when Yahoo no longer has groups. In ten days we can't add new content.
I think CTRL-ALT-DEL worked this week. I've wasted a lot of time trying to answer a question about my computer not turning off. it's more trouble to solve the problem than it is to just unplug it. I don't think the people I'm asking know what they're talking about. There is a problem but I'm not going to try fixing it because the solutions are so drastic. As far as I know the problems don't need fixing.
No problems with the virus scan except I was told to update software. I haven't seen it happen but I'll restart when I finish here.

We were supposed to be attending a funeral yesterday but sadly our ride bailed on us so we didn't go.
Also my mouth is improving quite a bit, I did some research and I think it was canker sores. I still have one remaining but at least it's less tender.

Luckily, I still had some leftover drain cleaner and I'll get more next week. I suffered with slow drain issues for several years and it was time consuming and frustrating. I usually get good results from a plumber. There was one guy who quit the business and said he couldn't come to my house because he only worked for the local state prison. He actually used a plunger. I could do that. And did. If that didn't work, then I called someone.
Two sinks for me cost about half that. But the man promised to close the hole for the mouse, and that didn't happen. If I have to call again, I'll make sure to ask about fixing that.
I got through several Berkshire Hathaway articles before the next one stopped everything. Just before nothing could be one, I did manage to save my email.
I had to stand in front of the TV to watch "Roy's Folks" but today I didn't have to hold the antenna.
And the man interviewed talked about how early he had to get up. Which reminds me. I hate getting up so early. But two weeks from today, it won't be that early. I'll just have to drive home in the dark if I go somewhere.

I thought about doing this on the Cat Thread but I'll just do it here. Last night I occasionally heard noises. Then the mouse got up and ran to the bathroom and after some effort escaped through that hole.
"Roy's Folks" taped on Wednesday! I also remembered to watch and although I was late, the signal was good. Usually I leave before it's on.
My trash was picked up in the middle of the night. On the other hand, it's almost dark when I drive home. I do that only twice a week versus knowing it's almost time to get up seven days a week.
A Berkshire Hathaway newspaper froze my computer today. I was patient and CTRL-ALT-DELETE did the job.
And I see a typo above.
Virus scan successful, but when I made sure the software updated it started a scan which I couldn't stop. I don't know if that was responsible for any of my problems.
