You're not allowed to add anything. You have to work with the digits you have. Well if it was 64 = 26 you could go 64 = 2 6 and be a true statement, but I can't figure something with the 7 instead. You've got the right idea. Try again. Sorry I didn't get here last week. I was having significant computer problems.

Different 'state of being'? As in dressed versus naked? ETA: After lots of research into American history... (I'm Canadian, I don't need to know this stuff ) Tricky (intentional) wording in the riddle as there were two VP Johnsons sworn in after a President was assassinated. Lyndon Johnson was sworn-in in 1963 after JFK's assassination. If John was a teenager at this time (13-19 years of age) he would have been born between 1944 & 1950. The only states added/changed after this time were Hawaii & Alaska and they weren't states previously, so it's obviously not this Johnson being referred to. Andrew Johnson was sworn-in in 1865 after Lincoln's assassination. If John was a teenager at this time (13-19 years of age) he would have been born between 1846 & 1852. West Virginia was divided off from Virginia in 1863 (from what I can tell, all other states added after 1846 were 'Territories' before becoming states and therefore disqualified from the riddle answer). John must have been born in the section of Virginia that was later used to form the state of West Virginia. Correct. New one. The Bingo Apartments are exactly what they sound like. Five stories, with five apartments on each floor, all looking out on a walkway which runs from one end to the other. There are stairways on each end but no elevator. The super lives in the basement with the laundry room and equipment rooms. Every tenant is jealous of the apartment belonging to someone living next door or above or below. Those living on each end have only one person on the same floor to be jealous of. Those living on the top floor have no one directly above to be jealous of, and those living on the first floor have no one below (no one is jealous of the super) to be jealous of. Is it possible for each tenant to move to an apartment either next door or directly above or directly below?

A spoonerism is a pair of words that can have their initial sounds switched to form new words. The pairs need only sound the same, not necessarily be spelled the same (power saw & sour paw, horse cart & coarse heart). There may sometimes be one or two connecting words (kick the stone & stick the cone, king of the rats & ring of the cats). Given the following definitions, what are the spoonerisms?
1) a lashing device in Athens & a feeble grasp 2) the source of a leaky kettle & why a vaulter would need to wear oven mitts 3) a pile of writing instruments & a bundle of devices for painting letters 4) quicker male & principal air mover

^I think you just need the song titles, not the whole first line. You're good so far. For the other two:

Two of mine still haven't been done. Also, I corrected a typo in one.
A man has a wife and twin sons. The sons insist on receiving equal amounts of anything they are given.
The mother bakes a rectangular birthday cake, but it stays in too long and the edges are burned slightly. The father is a jerk who can't wait, and he doesn't like eating the burnt edges of the cake, so he cuts a perfectly rectangular piece out of the middle, though the sides of this rectangle are not parallel to the sides of the cake.
What are two ways the sons can get equal amounts of cake?

^ You overcomplicated the first one a bit. It works better as 'Greek Whip & weak grip'. Otherwise all correct.

What are two ways the sons can get equal amounts of cake? Cut the cake horizontally into 2 equally thick sections or weigh the cake to insure it's equally divided.

Your task is to discover words, names and phrases relating to the holiday season.
You are to delete a few letters in each unrelated phrase in order to show the holiday. The remaining letters will be in the right order.
For example:
EACH WRIST MASHED -- becomes: **CH *RIST MAS***
1. FROGS TRY THEM SO NO WORM CAN (delete 7 letters) 2. CLINT TILED RED HUMMER BODY (delete 7 letters) 3. SPRINT FACE OFF PREFACE (delete 7 letters) 4. THE CREEP WISHES A MENU (delete 7 letters) 5. NOW READ THIS (delete 5 letters) 6. GNATS LIVE IN STY (delete 6 letters) 7. SILLY DENT IN FLIGHT (delete 6 letters) 8. AMID STALE TOKENS (delete 6 letters)

This is one of my favorite threads so I certainly would not want to neglect it.

^ Just you.
Find the country in each of the following paragraphs:
1. Tom was a very sick boy and was bedridden for three weeks. He was given glandular fever by kissing a lot of girls.
2. Ale was the drink of choice for Andrew. He consumed 10 pints a day and doctors condemned him an alcoholic, which surprised Andrew. "Ale sooths my feelings and makes me feel relaxed, what's wrong with that? I am still a normal person!"
3. Baby intercoms are going to be replaced by LAN devices. They will give a better signal and are less likely to pick up background noise and are simply put near the baby, possibly in its cot. LAN devices have also been predicted to be used in other places around the house.
4. Sir Elan drove me to the coffee shop. He is such a gentleman, as I did not have to walk. Bravo I say!
