I think that's got to be Summer Glau's voice dubbed in with the girl who's playing River as a child. Sounds just like her.

I'm 9 1/2 minutes in... and I have it paused so I can comment. I have to agree with that, it does sound a lot like Summer. And she's a very extraordinary girl right from the start. That guy, was he the same guy that found River at the last episode? I take it this beginning part was how Simon got River out of that place, right?

I must be very susceptible to the drama in this movie because my heart is pounding before they run the title screen. I have paused it there. We now know definitely that River was being programmed to be a weapon, and that amazing ability to climb to the ceiling and cling there was awesome. I loved it! Wonderful and fitting end for the doctor. Throw yourself on your sword.  "Young miss" should seek other employment. |

If you're asking 'is that Dr. Matthias' who was mentioned in the River Tam Sessions that we're seeing onscreen, you're right, Chloe. It is.
And you can really tell that Summer is a ballerina in that scene, by the way she's able to use her body, Anti.

I don't know if it is the same actor but that probably is him. He seems cold and deadly enough to be the "bounty hunter" Jubal Early.

Yes! Thank you for his name. Maybe it was a different actor but it would make a lot of sense if it was the same character. I love the beginning scene with Mal and Wash. |

Yep, that's the actor who played Jubal Early, the bounty hunter, but here his character is called The Operative. I'm not certain that both are the same character, after doing a little research.

I took ballet, then I started interpretive dance, that's how I know I could be flexible enough to kick some butt, I would just have to do it with more force than if I was just dancing.  |
