Things are going to get much, much worse.

One thing about it--Joss Whedon always has women who can kick butt in his projects. I love it when I see shows with women who can kick butt... I'm sure you know that already. I'll be looking for more of Joss Whedon's projects...

And Inara is tough too! No helpless women in Mal's life.

Holy crap, I've seen this movie before! I thought it was a horror movie so I turned it off with the intention of never watching this!

By the way, Joss Whedon, who just directed the billion dollar plus grossing "The Avengers"? This was his motion picture debut as a director.

I remembered the scene with the skeletons all the way through to the hologram explanation of how the Reavers (which now I know what they are called) from the time Jayne found the vehicle to right about where I'm at now. Where we see a Reaver attacking the girl making the report. And I told myself I would never see this movie, too scary... that was about 5 years ago?
How did I not recognize anyone!?

Whoa... wait a sec. Moon, did you ever notice, at 01:23:12 at the screen just to the left of the guy, right at his shoulder level. That's the animated Lois Lane from the old animated cartoons, the Fleischer ones if I remember correctly.

I bet Joss had a lot of fun picking out all of those videos to put in the scene.

I am at the end. I enjoyed this immensely. Too bad about Wash. Zoe will never find another Wash.
See how magnificent River is? If the series had continued, it would have been very exciting. Action, adventure, mayhem, monsters, spaceships, romance - I enjoyed it all.
What did you think of the spaceship battles? I think they have Star Trek beat when it comes to battles.

The part where we finally see Simon and Kaylee kissing, River poking her head to see what they're doing made me laugh. I absolutely loved the ending with River and Mal. You know, I kinda picture myself kinda like River. I may be small, but I can really kick some serious butt. Not to mention... I used to take ballet and I still dance sometimes...

I agree. Never thought I'd love anything more than Star Trek, but for me, Firefly's got it beat hands down.
If you played the credits all the way through, there's a guitar version of the Firefly theme right at the end.

I played the credits all the way through. Very nice. Made me think of a western theme. I think Whedon likes westerns.
I went back to Mr. Universe's final scene to see the cartoon characters. I did not realize he was betraying the Serenity crew. But he did help in the final analysis, I guess.

Like Chloe, I first saw this movie long before I became aware of Firefly. Didn't remember much about it except River's big fight scene, and I had no idea who the characters were.
The second time I saw it, after watching the series it just devastated me seeing Shepard Book and Wash die. I was depressed about that for days and days. But I thought the movie was great.
BTW, I've heard several things from Joss about the deaths. First was that he felt like you had to feel that the stakes were high for it to work dramatically--that anyone could die. The second thing I heard he'd said was that Ron Glass and Alan Tudyk were the only two actors who couldn't commit to a sequel at the time, so it was a way of dealing with that. I doubt either one of those actors would hesitate for a second to commit now.
Finally, and I don't know if he was kidding or not, but Joss said that if he ever gets to do another Firefly feature his first scene would be Shepard Book and Wash talking to each other.

All of that information is good to know. I could not imagine why he killed off Wash since he and Zoe made a great team and Wash added comic relief with his sometimes snarky comments. Serenity was so intense at times that we needed some laughter. No one spilled the beans about Book dying. I thought he survived when you told me about his continuing story. Did you intend to surprise me? Well, I thought Simon was going to save him, so I was shocked that he died.
I would like to see a sequel with Book and Wash talking.
Edit: If they talked, Wash would tell us what "I am a leaf on the wind." means. Mal asked, What does that even mean?! And Book would tell us about his former life, which he refused to reveal to Mal.

I did not realize he was betraying the Serenity crew. But he did help in the final analysis, I guess. Mr. Universe lured them back, but only at The Operative's threat to his life, which he promptly took anyway. And Mal knew that he was heading into a trap.

Thank you. There was so much going on at the same time and my mind was focused on Mal's statement that "they won't see this coming." I was wondering what he was up to. Nice maneuver, dangerous, but exciting. That reminds me Wash has to be the universe's best pilot ever! River's mind might top him in the long run though.
