Q. Are there rules here?
A.(From Maxine) Yes there are.
lounge.cwtv.com/faq.php?faq=n...ine_fa q_item
We allow a wide array of discussions and topics. The titles of your threads were not appropriate for this site though and the conversation itself was questionable. This site is for chilren as young as 13. Please keep that in mind.
==============================================
Advice from Maxine:
Let's make this an open warning. If you can't be civil to other members leave them alone. If any of you are caught making up new names to harass or embarrass any member you will be permanently banned.
Thanks.

This allows the computer network that you are trying to access to know quite abit about you, including but not limited to, your country and city that you are accessing the site from ,as well as your internet provider name, and your account name ( Example : Doe@aol.com) . That allows the Moderators to know who is accessing their site, even though that "someone" is using a alternate hotmail (or eqivalent account), their IP address doesn't for the most part change . That is the basics of how it works. It is a little more complicated than that, but I think most will get the idea.
This gives the Mods the ability to ban, and" Ban Hard " if they so desire.

This could apply to discussion of any of the CW shows, but I found this while reading this week's "Smallville" sticky thread:

A bannable offense.
I know you all understand and will cooperate with us in not posting remarks toward a member and keep it on the show.
Thank You.

Just curious mods! Don't take this the wrong way.

The Guidelines are a warning, so are edited posts or threads. Common sense has to take effect at some point in time.
In the rare cases that the member really doesn't know, the banned member can PM one of the super mods directly and talk about options.

I think moderators are a bit extreme around here. Threads, replies keep on disapearing without any notices ! Would it be possible to just edit the thread and erase whatever was against the guidelines and just leave a not like " this thread or this reply has been edited because of...".
It is disapointing to write something, to come back to read what others had to say about it and just find out it's gone !
That is just my opinion !

I guess that is what happens when you are participating in a message board run by the network. If you could find a board run by people who weren't officially connected to the show, you'd stand a better chance of having links like that remain up and also being able to converse in a normal way (i.e. using minor profanity just like the characters on the show) without having yourself scolded like a five year old and kicked off the board!
Those links were interesting and stuff like that works to keep everyone actually interested in the show. I think CW is shooting itself in the foot by putting off the next new episode for weeks on end and then denying us any REAL info.

If the first post of a thread is removed, the rest of the posts disappear as well.
The mods don't go around removing posts for no reason. The CW set rules, and the mods have to enforce them.

Every member is deserving of a place where they can meet with others of like mind to celebrate their favorite. Every member is deserving of a place where they can meet with others of a like mind to trash a character.
Both sides need to leave each other alone in those 'protected' threads. To do otherwise is harassment.
So in other words no Haters in the Fans threads and no Fans in the Hater threads and keep the bashing out of the neutral threads.

It's really only a few people talking amongst themselves. Deny them any attention and see what happens.

IMHO, the CW Moderators should be doing... that Moderation thing. It's kind of like a forum moderator's job to do that, right? It isn't a forum moderators job to tell us, the forum members, how to respond to other forum members. I, for one, do not care for a moderator advising me to "shut up" like she tells her kids to just shut up and ignore other people in their real lives.
My father taught me to speak up for myself. In a very polite, assertive, and ladylike fashion. Not to just ignore other people, and "hope that the problem goes away on its own."
I fully support the actions of the forum moderators. I would hope that the forum moderators step up to the job they have undertaken.
Sincerely,
Bou

I hate feeling like I 'have' to ignore posts that are aimed to distraught me or take me for a loop.
I'll also want to say that there should be a rule where if you don't like a show, state your case in a logical and well put explanation other than a few words of just constant bashing. This goes for characters as well. I feel that what sets people off on this forum is the words that are used against their hated show or character. It's sort of like if you bash an actress, it won't be tolerated.
Don't get me wrong, people have every right to dislike a show or character and have their opinion. But bashing isn't really an opinion. It just fuels other people and creates fights between members.
When someone bashes a show or character their creating a fight with those who love the show or character. Because those who love the show/character will reply back trying to defend their beloved show/character. Then it will come off as them trying to start a fight.
I know that it could go the other way around where someone posts how much they love a show/character then a poster who hates the show/character will post retaliating against the others post and creating a fight.
But honestly? If both haters and lovers of a show can actually give logical & insightful opinions, then there would be no fighting period. Instead, there would be discussions that are harmful.
So basically, hater and lovers can both go to the forums without actually fighting an arguing. Less bashing of any kind whether it be actor/show/character then this place would have more respectful people.
In order to give respect you have to feel that the person earns their respect. It just isn't given. If you don't agree with something, why should you sit back and leave it alone, when you can state your case on why you disagree.
I got banned because I disagreed with someones opinion, and it was said I was trying to start a fight when I wasn't. I was disagreeing, and got banned. Now I feel like I can't say much or I will get banned. I keep expecting to get banned every single time I log in. Not a good feeling when I come here more than I do other forums I am apart of.
