I blame Castiel. It wasn't until HE showed up that the deadbeat/absent father stories started.

I still miss Bobby and think Sera made a dumb move by killing him.

I think we will pick up where we left off with the Sam and Amelia thing. Maybe not immediately, but I do believe it will be a "live" conversation between them and not flashbacks.
The next new episode will be Episode 10. The one with Charlie is Episode 11 and the one with Grandpa Winchester is Episode 12.

I thought the LARPing and grandpa were in the same episode and was the next one we would see. Maybe I was half asleep when I read the write-up.

Thanks to Andreas for the info. Episode 8.18 of Supernatural will be called "The Apple Dumpling Gang" Sounds like a comedy.
Are we going to have a meta episode?
I guess I am not a "serious" fan because I like the silly episodes. The boys do comedy so well.

I like some of the silly episodes, but I don't like that title, i hope it is just a working title.
Reminds me too much of the movie, which I didn't like. I was never a fan of movies like that.

My post was misleading. I like the meta episodes for their subtle humor where we need to recognize the references. I absolutely hate slapstick so episodes that are pure comedy would irritate me.

Am I evil if I want Sam to punch Dean when they hook back up in the next episode? I think Dean deserves it after the trick with the text message.
The practical or logical side of me gets that Dean was trying to keep Sam safe and most likely didn't think through OR care about the emotional ramifications of what he was doing.
The emotional side of me is upset with Dean because to me, what he did, comes off like he cares more about keeping Benny safe than Sam. Yeah, Dean got Sam out of the way, but the way he did it is just not right.
What also burns me up about it is that Dean had this text message thing planned out, it wasn't just a spur of the moment idea that came to him. I wouldn't be quite as angry at Dean if it was spur of the moment, but since it wasn't, I am more angry at him.

The short answer is, yes, you're evil for wanting Sam to punch Dean.
After all the shit Sam has pulled over the course of 7+ seasons, he is in no way entitled to hit the brother who went to Hell for him......who sold his soul to bring Sam back to life again.

Did you notice they asked where Garth was? I wonder if he'll show up in this episode? Seeing Garth wouldn't be so bad. I can't believe I'm saying that!

SoCal, are you sick too? why would you say that about Garth? lol
Look carefully at the surroundings, it looks like they are on Garth's safe houseboat.

They must be on Garth's "witness protection boat". I can't remember if Garth has met the angel yet. Seeing Garth would be fun, but I can't believe you are saying it either. I should send JensenRick a link to your post.

I can see Waggy's point of view about Sam punching Dean.
I also thought Dean was protecting Sam, and I noticed Dean was never mad at Sam in the episode, but as Waggy said he had it planned, why would he be mad?
But it was still mean to do to Sam.

I think Dean was afraid Sam would try to kill Benny and would get himself killed. So he did what he always does....protects his brother any way he can. In this instance, knowing that Sam had girl he cared about, he used that situation to get Sam as far away from Benny as possible. I want to punch Dean for alerting Amelia to Sam's presence and bringing her back into the storyline.

The official description for episode 8.12 was released today...sounds very, very interesting!
SAM AND DEAN MEET THEIR GRANDFATHER — Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) are stunned when a man who claims to be Henry Winchester (guest star Gil McKinney), their grandfather, suddenly appears in their hotel room demanding to know where he can find John Winchester. Henry has time-traveled to stop a demon named Abbadon (guest star Alaina Huffman) and was looking for John’s help. Through Henry, Sam and Dean learn more about their father and the Winchester blood line. Serge Ladouceur directed the episode written by Adam Glass (#812).
Well, well, well! Me thinks Grandpappy Winchester may have some 'splaining to do!

Well, whatever Grandpa Winchester has to say about their bloodline shouldn't be all that surprising to Sam and Dean.
I mean, Michael did tell Dean, through John, in Song Remains the Same, that the bloodline does go back to Cain and Abel.

From: The Winchester Family Business--
I was sent the following list of working episode titles for upcoming "Supernatural" episodes. Remember, these are subject to change, but this is the line up for now:
8.10 - "Torn and Frayed" 8.11 - "LARP and The Real Girl" 8.12 - "As Time Goes By" 8.13 - "Everybody Hates Hilter" (likely the Ben Edlund one from a previous EW spoiler) 8.14 - "Trial and Error" 8.15 - "Man's Best Friend with Benefits" 8.16 - "Remember the Titans" 8.17 - "Goodbye Strangers" 8.18 - "The Apple Dumpling Gang"
Thanks to Ron for the tip!

Thanks for posting these. Have to admit I'm a little depressed that the Trial Episode isn't until Epi. 14. From what I've heard, Sam and Dean are supposed to have a heart-to-heart conversation in a trial episode. Now it sounds like we'll have to wait another 5 epsiodes--assuming it is the Trial and Error episode--before they'll actually stop and listen to each other. I want them to take Garth's advice and listen to each other now, not 5 episodes from now! Oh well, maybe with all this waiting, it'll make the heart-to-heart even better.

SoCal, you have been busy. Thanks for all the updates.
The only thing I want to say is the show should not retcon John W. as growing up knowing about the supernatural because that would not make sense to me.

I was thinking the same thing. It would make the episode where both boys go back in time and meet young John and Mary somewhat pointless, in that, John didn't seem to know anything about "monsters being real" in that episode. If his father knows about monsters.......well, what's the deal-e-o?
